Are you quoting that because you agree with it?or pointing out how absurd it is?

Its a shame Christopher Hitchens passed away, as he was a master at these sorts of events.Of course in the end they are generally pointless endeavors. People who believe things without evidence are not generally swayed by logic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQorzOS-F6w

anyone watch this? how was it? entertaining?

Didn't see it but a few of my friends on FB who are fairly religious were pretty pissed off last night. Then again these are the same type of people who think that 90% of the world is going to Hell for not believing their exact religious doctrine (yep, even those tribesmen in the Amazon that have never even heard of Jesus and even little babies that are born with a sickness and only live for a few hours).

even Pat Robertson thinks that Ham guy is sillyhttp://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/02/05/pat-robertson-implores-creationist-ken-ham-to-shut-up-lets-not-make-a-joke-of-ourselves/

The surprising thing is that this is one of the more reasonable YEC organizations, with a list of discredited arguments for creationists to avoid: http://www.answersingenesis.org/get-answers/topic/arguments-we-dont-use

How wonderfully counterproductive. Now those idiots at the Holy Land Experience have another tacky biblical theme park to frequent.

So I finally watched most of this "debate" last night. Is is frightening that there are reasonably intelligent people like Ken Ham who actually refer to the bible as a scientific document and think the earth is 6,000 years old simply because the "begat" lineage in the bible could only add up to around 6,000 years, and that the stars and the rest of the universe was put here by god for his amusement, and they're only 6,000 years old too. Does he truly believe this? Or is it all a scam to get money? I just don't see how any reasonable person could believe this.

80-90% of our population is unreasonable in regards to religion, just at varying levels. I'm actually surprised there isn't more crazies at his level of commitment to idiocy.
9/2/2014 2:31:10 PM
Well, there are respected scientists who are religious. But they don't interpret Genesis and the rest of the Bible literally like this nutcase and his followers. I'd like to think this guys religous nuttiness is on the extreme edge.
9/2/2014 2:44:17 PM
I dare say the respected, intelligent, and logical scientists that are religious are possibly scarier than Ham. Not in what they do (there are brilliant ones that help our society), but in the fact that a mind of that level could still be influenced by ludicrous supernatural crap. It freaks me out.
