barbours are pieces of shit

I wish you could just charge predatory towers with grand theft auto if they take a car that they shouldn't have.
3/7/2008 4:38:50 PM
unfortunately, i doubt there's any prints on the mirror, I can easily remove the tag without touching the mirror with my finger prints. Plus i looked at an angle (no oily residue on the click surfaces) i suppose i can check out the parking permit... door handle wont work, it's been pouring all day.I wouldnt have to pay lawyers though, could just use student legal.I'll allow the apartment complex and towing company their chance before calling up the news. Don't know if i'll get my money back, but i wont just sit there and take the bullshit either.I'm also going to tape the tag to my window and take a photo. Then get it in writing from the apartment complex that will suffice as proper display of a parking permit. They'll probably tow again, and then I'll ram this shit up their asses big time.[Edited on March 7, 2008 at 4:47 PM. Reason : ]

^put a dab of glue on your tag where it touches the mirror so that you know there's no way it could have fallen, or put a hidden camera in the car to catch them in the act or something.
3/7/2008 4:54:58 PM
meh, i'll tape it. dont want to go through the mess of glue
3/7/2008 5:01:42 PM
I went through all of this once, sued them and won.Just put in bold a new thread saying park for free in whatever lot you were towed from.
3/7/2008 5:12:18 PM

i got towed from sumtersquare once when i lived there, and they didnt even have parking permitsim a bitch though and $130 or whatever is worth less than the time it would have taken to bitch about it
3/11/2008 1:32:38 PM
yeah, but if i do verify that it's an illegal tow, I'm going to spread the word. Then watch barbours lose thousdands tdub FTW[Edited on March 11, 2008 at 1:36 PM. Reason : ]

Call them again, leave a message saying that you are seeking legal advice against the tow company and possibly them since they are not being responsive as landowners. They will call you within 24 hours.
3/11/2008 1:55:26 PM
I would completely freak out.I mean raising your voice is not always the best solution, but like they say the squeaky wheel gets oiled first.

I salute you for actually doing something about this rather than paying the fee and forgetting about it.
3/11/2008 3:14:32 PM

Lawyer at student legal said that he's going to go after the apt complex. He said that it appears as though the onus is on the property to ensure that the signs posted are within the statutes. They effectively ask the towing company to tow, which suffices to say the towing company shouldn't have reason to believe that it's a request thats illegal, despite them being the providers of the signs (as illegal as they may be). He's drawing up a letter and all that requesting that they give me my 100 bucks back, or possibly face a law suit. Also, I've been trying to contact the manager since friday and keep getting pushed off.[Edited on March 12, 2008 at 11:34 AM. You also may want to write some letters to news outlets around here and get them published. The landlord does not want bad publicity because they're shady. I had a bad dealing with a landlord not too long ago and the way he treated us ended up with him not being able to lease anything for quite a while.
3/12/2008 12:56:44 PM
oh, i've got a few tricks up my sleeve
3/12/2008 3:04:17 PM
Verbal Assault on the Manager
3/12/2008 3:06:00 PM

3/12/2008 3:08:41 PM

3/12/2008 11:50:47 PM
this thread gives me a hard on.i hope you puck that towing company bad.
3/13/2008 12:05:11 AM
what exactly is illegal about the signs?
3/13/2008 1:40:34 AM
^ They have to be at least a certain size... 24"x24"?[Edited on March 13, 2008 at 1:47 AM. Reason : -]
3/13/2008 1:45:45 AM
Um....Good luck fighting that one. If the sign is 18"x18" does it not get the point across about towing?
3/13/2008 1:57:15 AM
yeah, the signage requirement is a law though
3/13/2008 2:17:16 AM
so my friend just got almost towed behind NYP because all two spots behind el rodeo were taken. she got there and it was on the truck, and the guy was a dick and told her it was $100. is that legit, or can they only charge $50?
3/13/2008 1:03:48 PM
^^^ if it's on the books, common sense doesn't matterand i'm with puck_it on this one.tow companies
3/13/2008 1:28:38 PM
^^ Law mandated $50 drop fee. They guy was probably going to just pocket the money that was extra.
3/13/2008 2:51:31 PM
what. a. dick.
3/13/2008 2:53:00 PM
I wonder what the guys job description is that watches what restaurant you go into back there.
3/13/2008 3:03:57 PM

3/17/2008 2:49:31 PM

3/25/2008 10:35:36 AM
if it makes you feel any better, i got booted while i was parked outside the place i work, while i was on the clock, because "we (the company that does the booting) noticed that you'd been parked there for a while."they tried to tell me there was an $80 removal fee, no ifs, ands, or buts once the boot was put on, but they changed their tune a little when i mentioned that my uncle is the new DA.
3/25/2008 10:53:41 AM
name dropping FTW
3/25/2008 10:57:10 AM
