search all the honda dealerships in this state. If I could get an 05 for a little more in the dead of summer. I know you can get an 04 for 20k when it is freezing outside. You can actually get a brand new one for around 29-31.[Edited on February 22, 2008 at 8:28 AM. Reason : .]

an unmolested, recent model s2000 is by far the best idea in this thread
2/22/2008 10:35:32 AM
I'm sure you could find an unmolested mkIV n/a Supra (although it's a bit heavier) for less (around $15k). Of course it'll probably have around 100k miles. I figure it's a bit more practical and the drivetrain is pretty solid. just my 2 cents. But I do agree with ^ and everyone else on the s2k over the mr2. [Edited on February 22, 2008 at 10:53 AM. ^damn i'll bet that's a nasty bitch. what are those cars, 2600-2800?God, off hand that doesn't sound too bad if he'd take 4k and it checks out in person. probably wouldn't go much if any higher though.[Edited on February 25, 2008 at 12:19 AM. Reason : .]

i'd never try to make an MR2 that powerful...it wouldn't be as fun to me as it would be with, say, 300-350 rwhp.if i wanted something that fast in a straight line, i'd get something like an SS454 Chevelle or something.
2/25/2008 12:43:38 AM
2/25/2008 1:45:56 AM
yeah, screw that. i didn't even know those things still brought anywhere near that price.no WAY i'd even think about a mid-90s NA supra for the same price as an S2000.
2/25/2008 2:10:39 AM
going single turbo is no more on an na than going single on a tt. makes sense if that's your ultimate goal.

Problem is that the car is in NY, so I'd have to fly down one way then drive it back.
2/25/2008 1:12:02 PM
dudei've driven from raleigh to baltimore to buy my turbo miatafrom NoVa to Baltimore to buy my supercharged S2000from Raleigh to somewhere 2 hours down east to buy a YZF-600from Pensacola (almost in Alabama) to Gainesville to buy my 330ciwent back to Gainesville a few months later to buy an Ultra 150 jet skiand drove from Pensacola to Atlanta to buy my Evobut there is no way in hell i'd go to NY to check out that MR2. They aren't THAT hard to find...sit back and wait for one to turn closer to you. I've walked away from WAY too many deals to go through that much trouble and expense for a car that old (the Miata was an exception--it was so far removed from stock that waiting for one closer to me wasn't as reasonable of an option...and it wasn't nearly as far, either).
2/25/2008 1:29:48 PM
pay someone $20 on some mr2 forum to go look at the car for you.what if you fly there and something is up.plus people on those forums have much more knowledge about those cars.
2/25/2008 1:30:44 PM
yeah, that would be much more reasonable.
2/25/2008 1:32:35 PM
2/25/2008 1:33:43 PM
i usually look for months before i buy a car. if you wait long enough, you'll find them.
2/25/2008 1:39:08 PM
^^just means it's got the nadm (north american domestic market) computer vs. the jdm (japanese domestic market) computer. i assume since it was worth mentioning there is probably some slight tuning differences between the two.
2/25/2008 5:26:58 PM
haha, getting lost in the, umm, seedier parts of Washington DC with like $5000 in cash sitting in a bag with my SIG P226 in the back of the Trooper...forgetting that getting caught with a firearm in DC is big trouble...then driving the Miata from Baltimore back to Raleigh with no license plate...I think the plan was for you to follow me closely the whole way so the lack of a plate wouldn't be as noticeable (uhh, yeah...that lasted for about 15 minutes).
2/25/2008 6:02:36 PM
I drove from Maryland to Raleigh with almost $20K in cash when I sold my corvette and a forged engine...Yeah I had my 9mm with me.
2/25/2008 6:05:54 PM
I mean aside from the issue of it being modded........that really is a hugely riced out POS car that I wouldn't be caught dead in with a paper bag over my head, so don't buy it
2/25/2008 6:40:06 PM
I assume you're referring to the OP.
2/25/2008 7:57:26 PM
i drove back from s. charlotte with my ram when i first got it and no plate.buddy stayed behind me.. and i kept the tail gate down.had one close call when a trooper saw me spinnin tires through some mud. oops. good thing he didnt care
2/25/2008 8:21:40 PM
Ok, I found a really hot car. And I'm not going to post it, and I hope no one else does, because I want to buy it. I'll post if I end up buying the car.
2/25/2008 10:00:28 PM
please post in mr2 forums.please post somewhere so you dont make a wrong move.
2/25/2008 10:25:04 PM
just buy a S2000 and call it a day.
2/25/2008 10:39:27 PM
^^ It's not an MR2, don't worry.
2/25/2008 10:59:48 PM
sounds like you don't want adviceyou want affirmation that what you're about to do is a good idea, whether it really is or not.
2/25/2008 11:00:53 PM
No, no. If I wanted affirmation, I would post the car. The problem is that I don't want anyone else buying it.Let's just say it's a decade old German performance sedan with a few aftermarket upgrades.[Edited on February 25, 2008 at 11:08 PM. Reason : ]
2/25/2008 11:07:19 PM
^I bet it's a M3. I might be the only one, but I like to buy my car un-modded, and then mod them later if I want to. Modded cars always tend to have problems later on.
2/25/2008 11:19:38 PM
yeah, but it costs a helluva lot more that way
2/25/2008 11:26:46 PM
sounds like a Sanderson Highschool Special right there

2/27/2008 9:02:20 AM
2/27/2008 9:07:44 AM
go with a Fiero. You'll be surprised.
2/27/2008 12:47:52 PM
i think a Fiero is a fabulous direction.
2/27/2008 1:24:58 PM
^^^ my gut reaction is to agree with you. i though the same thing....except that i'm almost sure you can make 700 hp on a Supra with a stock bottom end, and prob with a stock transmission.
