wow, so that makes them a 119-128th ranked team overall]

there is no transitive property in footballand how many times have we beaten FSU and then laid a dump sometime during that seasonASU is not immune to those types of games either
2/9/2008 8:50:53 PM
its easy to get up for one or two big games when you have cupcake shit teams for the rest of your schedule. If App. State played in the SEC half their roster would be dead by mid season[Edited on February 9, 2008 at 8:52 PM. Reason : d]
2/9/2008 8:51:50 PM
how does that qualify as transitive property?they are in an inferior division of college football, plain and simple
2/9/2008 8:52:08 PM
other than the big 6 conferences, they could probably finish in the top 3 of all FBS conferences. Hell, at certain positions, they have better athletes than we do playing in Carter Finley
2/9/2008 8:57:30 PM
so you dont like the transitive property, but you like to play the 'what if' game by speculating where App might finish if they manned up and played real college football]
2/9/2008 8:59:34 PM
well duh, top 3 of the 7th best conference or worst isnt exactly saying much...
2/9/2008 9:00:12 PM
hey dont get me wrong, i want app to do well because i think it helps football in the state of north carolina in general...app is like State's little sister
2/9/2008 9:01:30 PM
transitive propertythey lose to Wofford, a top 10 FCS team, so therefore they automatically suckusing that logic, they should have been #5 in the AP poll after beating Michigan
2/9/2008 9:02:01 PM
Jaybee3rd best in some conferences, obviously depending on the year, is usually better than half the ACClets face it, ASU could "compete" in most conferences, nobody is saying they would win every gameand just like ASU got up for Michigan, don't you think teams like Wofford and Georgia Southern(the 2 teams ASU lost to this year) will get up for the 2 time defending champions at the time[Edited on February 9, 2008 at 9:04 PM. Reason : .]
2/9/2008 9:03:06 PM
I disagree, maybe the old ACC, but not now
2/9/2008 9:03:59 PM
maybe they shouldve been in the top 5...after week 1...then after week 2 their SOS would immediately drop them outthey lose to wofford, a top 10 d1-aa (~FCS~) school, so they automatically dont have any leverage when arguing how they should be ranked/praised/etc
2/9/2008 9:05:33 PM
I would take ASU over Duke, UNC, GT, Maryland(recently)
2/9/2008 9:06:15 PM
if GT and App. State played 10 times, GT would win more than 5 of them
2/9/2008 9:07:04 PM
Duke beat a Big 10 team at their house this year just like App didiirc they shut them out]
2/9/2008 9:09:15 PM
ASU would win atleast 4, possibly 5 or 6GT is a middle of the pack ACC team. If they could compete with them, they could win many conferences, for example:CUSA, MAC, Sunbelt
2/9/2008 9:10:45 PM
again with the what if gameswhat if App stepped up out of JV into real college football so we can see what they'd actually do
2/9/2008 9:11:59 PM
We have established that the Big 10 sucks, they are the slowest conference in AmericaHell, I've seen DII GVSU and even they were faster than most Big 10 teams
2/9/2008 9:12:09 PM
they beat a top 20 Michigan team and you are still calling them JVThey are the 3 time defending national championsYes, FCS is a step down, but in ASU's case, is a minimal step from alot of FBS teams
2/9/2008 9:14:04 PM
they'll be a JV team as long as they play in D1-AA regardless of who they beatand the top 20, top 5 rating of michigan just shows how pathetic polls are in college football...Michigan was ranked 5th without playing a single snapand D1-AA is more than "a step down"]
2/9/2008 9:15:29 PM
they can beat half the teams that currently play FBS football, thats not a huge step
2/9/2008 9:17:34 PM
"they can beat half the teams that currently play FBS football"step up and play them...all i see so far is you claiming WHAT IF scenarios over and over again with zero substancethey could go Independent like Notre Dame...that way at least they'd schedule mostly 1-A teams and we could see what they could actually do...cause before Michigan...NC State, Kansas and LSU all whooped them[Edited on February 9, 2008 at 9:26 PM. Reason : .][Edited on February 9, 2008 at 9:27 PM. Reason : ,]
2/9/2008 9:19:34 PM
you keep going back and forth, either wofford is a top 10 team or they are a bad team that got up for app state and won. also, stop talking about their 1-aa ( (fuck this fcs shit, lets call it like it is) championships, there are only a small handful of teams in 1-aa that can compete against teams in 1-a. therefore, their 'ships are meaningless when you are discussing how they would play against 1-a teams. the 1-aa NC is basically a competition b/w 2-4 teams and a bunch of scrubs. we were mediocre at best last year and we spanked wofford. we were even worse the year before when we spanked app st. maybe app st could compete at 1-a level after a few years of recruiting, but their first year they would finish in the bottom half of almost every conference.also, you clearly have not idea how polls work. if it had been a 1-a team that beat michigan that week, would you have said that team should be ranked #5 the next week?? hell no, you would say michigan should drop severely and the other team should be receiving votes or in the 15-25 range at best.
2/9/2008 9:27:52 PM
maybe App and UNCC can create a new football conference
2/9/2008 9:29:46 PM
This shit is just to hypothetical to argue, it isn't even worth doing. All ASU can do is play the schedule they are given, take a crack at a 1a team here and there, and keep trying to win the championship they are allowed to win. the differences in recruiting, budget, and the stigma of being 1AA instead of 1A automaticaly mean that the 1AA teams are not going to compete at a 1A level consistantly. Why try to compare teams that are not on the same competetive level, that is like comparing JV and Varisity high school teams.
