I wound up starting around 10 last night. I found that a quart of oil had slowly leaked all over the carpet behind the driver's seat in my new truck and I was cleaning that up till around 9pm.I'm going with the advice of others and I'll be drinking water most of the day, I had an orange for breakfast, I'll have an apple with green tea for lunch, and then some more fruit this evening.

I fasted for three days on Green Vibrance superfood, natural juices, water, and fruits one time. I didn't have any specific reason or goals other than to see what the juice/water/fruit fasting was all about. I actually felt really good after the first day.

I highly recommend against any massive shock or routine change to jump start a healthier lifestyle. I think culturally we're inclined to believe that BIG changes require BIG actions but you're a lot more likely to slip back into old habits if you try to do something thats obscenely hard to maintain.I recommend that you give up any drink that has sugar or salt in it: namely soda and sweet tea. By give up, I mean permanently. Getting calories from liquids is amazingly stupid and you'll reduce your sugar intake by a lot. If you can do that, then go ahead and cut down on the amount of sweets in general that you eat. Obvious stuff like candy, chocolates, ice creams etc. Once you've reduced your sugar intake, then begin to cut down on the amount of fatty foods you ingest daily. Nachos, philly cheesesteak sandwitches, chinese take out etc. All of these foods are effectively poisoning you. Replace them with healthier fare. If you eat out constantly, go for soups and salads (without dressing). If you can maintain these changes, and you should if stick to them for a month a piece, then you can start doing more fantastic stuff.

religious practices, glycogen depletion, and surgery preparation are the only legitimate reasons I can think of for why a person should fast. Even the glycogen depletion reason is a little iffy, because you can glycogen deplete while still eating certain foods.

I've started to only eat a bowl of cheerios for my meals lately. I've been on a really strict diet lately and then one night my dad told me that I was gaining weight since I've been on it. Very dicouraging on my part. So now (except yesterday) I've been trying to only eat cheerios for my meals. I've also picked back up on my workout routine. Cardio every day, and weight training tuesday thursday and saturday

this is a horrible idea. never fast like that unless you seriously know what you are doing.my best friend hadn't been taking care of herself for quite some time, and eventually got sick of how she felt and looked. she saw a doctor about it, who proceeded to put her on a 6 week detox, starting with a week of eating only a special shake. she's only 4 weeks into it and has already lost weight and been feeling much better in the general health sense. long story short- dont fast for a day because you think it'll help you get "back on track"... if anything, its just going to hurt you. if you really want to get on track- go see a specialist (or at the very least a primary physician) about it. (an important thing to remember: just fasting or detoxing alone isn't going to help- you need to change your eating habits, which is much more difficult than most people think. it's pretty much a lifestyle change- and you have to be very motivated to actually do it successfully)

I just watched an episode of The Truth About Food where they tested a week-long detox diet, and they found it did nothing. The participants did water/fresh juice days the first and last day and nothing but fruits and vegetables for the rest of the week. They compared the detox group with a group of women eating normally, then tested things like liver function and levels of toxins in the body, and nothing changed. But the detox ones did lose some weight, if that means anything.

my parents do a "liver cleansing diet" once in a while, and they say it makes them feel better. I'm wanting to do it as a way of getting back to eating semi-healthy instead of all the fast food and eating out that I've done the past few months. Also, I've never done a real diet before where I've followed a regimen... I'd like to try it once.

processed honey is more appealing to me than raw honey. the texture is smoother and more consistent.the thought of ordering raw milk makes me . I've drank milk 5 minutes removed from a cow before, but the thought of ordering something like that and having it shipped to me creeps me out.

^^it tastes hot and thick. you can tell it still have all the constituents of butter in it from the creamy texture. It's not a bad taste, but I'd rather drink pasteurized milk that's been chilled and had more of the milk fat removed.

^ if it is commerical whole milk, none of the fat has been removed, just been homogenized (stirred at a high speed to break fat globules into smaller pieces so that they stay mixed in, and not come to the top).i still wouldn't mind having raw homogenized milk. it is the pasteurization that i have an objection to. sure, it kills harmful bacteria, but it kills magnitudes of order more good bacteria, and destroys many enzymes. not to mention, radically alters the taste.

good bacteria isn't going to do you any good when you get milk contaminated with stuff like e. coli, salmonella, rabies, and staph. also, the enzymes in milk are bovine enzymes. Your body has no use for them since human enzymes are different. This is the same reason why the peptides used in the dairy industry such as growth hormone and IGF-1 for increasing milk production have no effect on the humans that drink the milk.when you consider just how nasty a dairy operation is, you'll understand why pasteurization is so important. You wouldn't eat uncooked beef, yet dairy products are exposed to the same risk of infection from sick cows and fecal matter contamination.
