Didn't see ncsu campus represented:Is speed pretty consistent between buildings on campus? This is from Jordan.

well if anybody is considering Clearwire, after having them for almost a year, I would advice against it. It has gone to shit recently, and I'm getting RR hooked up on Tuesday. Here's results I've taken recently (I have a supposed 1.5Mbps/256kbps account)2/27/083/10/084/6/08[Edited on April 6, 2008 at 6:59 PM. Reason : .]

DSL at work was 512K/128K yesterday and 6meg/768K today. I can't figure out why, nor do I want to.

some of yall have rediculous speeds, but i doubt your internet is much faster than the average personsi surf on campus all the time and the speed difference is mild

4/8/2008 9:36:29 PM
so i'm considering switching from TWC (RR + HD/DVR) to Satellite and DSL or clearwire. My RR connection is 5 Mbps but I have no idea how frequently I take advantage of that. I wonder if I'd be content with a 1.5 or 768. I don't use bittorrent but I do watch video online pretty frequently. is there a good way to measure over time how much bandwidth I'm actually using?]
4/29/2008 1:57:10 PM
google seems to have a bunch of bandwidth monitors. If you dont want to downlod something though, perfmon should work.
4/29/2008 3:08:35 PM
there's too many google results and i'd like to avoid littering my pc with apps trying to find a good one. i'm not much of a network guy so i was hoping somebody on here would make a recommendation. perfmon is along the right idea, but i don't see running it for a week straight working well. i'd like to get about a week's worth of continuous monitoring to get a good sample of my average usage patterns.
4/29/2008 3:44:00 PM
with perfmon you would go into Counter Logs, create a new log and then set the start/end dates. Perfmon doesn't need to be open for it to collect data, so you can turn it on and it will log in the background.

^^^ the 2ms response time makes it seem like the test was run from the same building where the speedtest server is located. There can't possibly be more than 4 or 5 hops between the two.[Edited on June 19, 2009 at 9:38 PM. Reason : ]

Standard RR residential, 7 Mbps service. People complain a lot about TWC but I've always gotten very solid internet service from them. I've been getting crazy speed bursts from them lately too, as seen by this test and the fact that I just downloaded something at 1.7 megabytes per second.
