I had so much fun at that concert. I missed the National (SOMEHOW I forgot my ticket and then when I went back to get it I accidentally grabbed my Rush ticket, but luckily I was able to get a new ticket printed at the box office), but Modest Mouse did a pretty good job and REM fucking rocked.

gonna have to chime in and say REM was the best of the night. and i was a huge modest mouse fan when i was going to State. REM was just on point, played a varied set and you have to hand it them for their obvious passion for the music still after 26 years as a band. plus, it didn't hurt that me and my sister scored some WORKING badges and were able to slip into the VIP section. incredible night.

REM was on fire last night. I have been seeing those guys since the Green World Tour and that show as good as they ever did back then. Harbourcoat, 1,000,000, Sitting Still, Find The River, Auctioneer, etc. Even the new songs fit into the set really well. Just an all around great show.

Only down side was the sheer volume of douchebags in my section who couldn't stop having their inane conversations with each other while screaming. Very distracting. Also, smokers should really just be shot on site.

(as for my previous comments about The National... I will be listening to these guys further. I am not going to say they suck as a band, just that they didn't do it for me last night. However, I am more than willing to give them a chance.)

^^
maybe you can start slipping them into the 96Rock rotation.

and the station will slowly begin to improve.

we play REM. In fact, we played REM for a solid hour (by request) after the show last night.

I should have specified "The National."

Although I do support the R.E.M. playage ... Chronic Town FTW!

dc/md show was pretty good...much better temperatures than raleigh...the place was PACKED

some dude in front of us kept yelling JOHN MCCAIN and HYPOCRITE at stipe every time stipe got on his soapbox... i didn't really care except for the fact whenever he started flailing around, i couldn't see

and the people next to us kept making out during the most non-romantic songs

security accused me and Officer Cat of smoking under the pavilion...even though it was fairly obvious it was the pda couple next to us... i.e. WHY WOULD ALL OF THE CIGARETTES BE CLEARLY UNDER THEIR TRAMPLED FEET THAT YOU JUST SHOWN YOUR FLASHLIGHT ON

btw found this gem from an old raleigh show
