how much should I expect to pay for the SIG P226?

You usually see them for $750 with night sights.

You can find certified pre-owned guns for $550-650. IMO you might as well buy a new one cause you don't save enough. Also I've seen a few CPO guns on different forums with finish problems.

Sigs aren't cheap.
They make things like the M&P very tempting.

Mine is usually in my pocket.

I dont like the look of a visible holster, and have yet to find a hidden one that is truly comfortable.

well quite frankly if or how I carry concealed is none of your, or TWWs business.




Right now, the consensus seems to be drifting towards appendix carry (strong-side, in front of the hip, IWB) as the ideal place to carry. Ankle rarely, if ever, makes sense. The great thing about a pocket holster is the fact that you can have your hand on your gun without looking like you're going for your gun.

I bought a cosmetically ratty one (but functionally awesome) for $275 from Lawmens several years ago (then ended up selling it for $350)

but yeah, prob $450-500 for a factory refurbished one, and $650-850 for a new one, although i honestly haven't priced them lately.

but ohhh, what a pistol.

That's a damn hell of a deal, especially considering police trade in guns typically have low round counts.

I got a police trade in 228 from stone a long time ago and wouldn't sell it for twice what he paid.

Not that I'm aware of. There's a waiting period to get the permit itself, but once you have it, you can go right out and buy one.

yeah maybe that's what i was referring to.

We had a good gun discussion at lunch today. one of my suppliers came and took us out and we were discussing gun control and shooting and the like and he said at the range he shoots at there were these two women that came in every saturday morning for years and shot together. Apparantly they were best friends but one of them started having an affair with the others' husband. So one saturday morning they came in and were shooting and the one looked over at the other and said "I can't believe you would do this to me" and put the gun in her own mouth and shot herself.

I don't think its official, but it seems to depend on the county. There's certainly no state waiting period. I could walk into the Watauga Co's sheriff office and walk out with a purchase permit 10 minutes later. When I was visiting a shop outsides of Taylorsville (Alexander Co, I think) the guy at the counter told a customer that there was a waiting period on the permit. I've always heard the larger counties like Orange and Wake make people unnecessarily wait for purchase and carry permits.

theres no point in buying a gun to shoot at paper

you shoot at paper to practice so you can shoot people.

that said, you can get into the old 9mm vs .45 argument.

9mm has higher capacity and ammo costs half that of .45

springfield xd .45 is awesome for the price.

buddy of mine mentioned selling his kimber custom II the other day. ~700 bucks.

I posted this question in the other gun thread in the classifieds, but....


Anyone have any experience with Taurus? I shot their 24/7 and really dug it. I cant afford a Sig and I wasnt too fond of the Glock.

I may have the chance to pick up an XD but Ive never shot one so we'll have to see.

I like the XD. It's not a bad gun at all. I'd most certainly pick it over the taurus, but that's just personal preference.

That freaked me out a bit too. Some people simly enjoy, for lack of a better term, the zen of shooting. I have multiple reasons for owning firearms, and the sheer enjoyment of plinking is one of them.

just got the glock 26 and it is actually a pretty sweet gun. fairly inexpensive for the quality, reliable, durable and accurate given its a subcompact. some people dont like the trigger system, but ive had no trouble at all with it. as for the whole anti .22 thing - if youre shooting on your open land, at least it will hit something (with reasonable thickness) and not go through it like centerfire ball ammo will. so think of that too.

In addition to my 22/45, I've got a 9x19mm, 45acp, 380acp, 357mag, and 480ruger.

The 22/45 is my newest gun and it's the most fun out of all of them to shoot.
If I could have only one range gun then that would be it.
Paying for the ammo doesn't hurt either.
Looking back, it should have been my first gun.

Don't hate the 22.

1: the Springfield XD series is great, no matter what size or caliber you get it in
2: 9mm Winchester white box is less than $16 per hundred at walmart
3: go to PDHSC off of tryon, they have fewer guns to rent, however they have less duplicates than Davi's, all gun rentals are $5+range fee for the day, plus their prices for buying a gun kicked the ass of all the stuff i priced at Davi's. They do a flat markup over their cost, thus were well under MSRP on the XD-9 4 inch I bought.

yeah their markup is ~$150. When I purchased my pistol, it was $~100 less than msrp. Kinda bad if you ask me. I probably should have shopped around more and paid no tax.
