I am trying ONE MORE TIME to watch this god forsaken show everyone says is great. I've seen the first 5 episodes..And randomly 2 episodes a long time ago. Is this show actually good or are people just retarded? Literally, NOTHING happens in episode 4 and 5. It's just excruciating to sit through one episode each day. I can't imagine how people binge watch season 1
2/2/2017 9:57:18 PM
I watched like 2.5 seasons of it. Meh.

Season one is the weakest of the series. 3-5 is some of the best tv ever made.

I think most shows start off well and even peak at season 1 or 2, and then it is a decline from there as they try to stretch out the show, run out of ideas, lose/gain different actors, etc. I think one of the things that makes this show so appealing is that it just keeps getting better and better as the seasons progress. And whether or not you like the ending, they didn't drag it on forever either. Doesn't mean you have to like it, but I also think if you don't get to season 3 or 4 it is hard to judge and probably worth the time to get there for most.

I recently rewatched the whole series on Netflix again. Still tied with The Wire as my favorite series ever. To those who didn't like it, or who said "meh", I'd be curious to know what shows you do like?

I don't get why people say that. I thought the first season was great. Obviously not on the level of the last few, but shit happens.

the first season had a lot of great moments.

Yea id give season one like a 5/10.Good acting, well produced, etc. Seems to be setting up a potential good storyline... But anyone acting like season one is some masterpiece is just evaluating it with the benefit of knowing what comes next because overall season one is boring. He's conflicted. He wants the money for his family he's not just a lowlife. We get it. There are ways to advance t g e storyline while something, anything at all happens

Sure, they could do without as many breakfast-eating time-fillers early on, but the show as a whole is one of the greatest in recent memory. It's worth watching the whole series, imo.

I just re-watched the series again with my girlfriend who had never seen it. Watching it again just confirms how great it was.

The first season did an amazing job of being realistic and down to earth. It reminded me of that office space scene where they got desperate and looked up the definition for money laundering because they had no experience in actual crime. In the beginning of Breaking Bad, everything was the same with Walter and Jessie and it was a fairly realistic depiction of what would happen if a white collard nerd tried to take all of his degrees into the criminal world to make some money. He was a trained synthetic chemist with access to a science lab and an RV. Given those amount of resources and the training that he had from his education, making meth would have been incredibly straight forward. But, the cool part was how they failed at everything else and Jessie eventually became more useful as a laboratory assistant than he was as dealer, which softened Walter up a bit because Jessie was such a failure in the class room. There were very strong themes dealing with what it actually meant to be an educator, and how good intentions can quickly turn into criminal intentions. As the series progressed, things did become more unrealistic to an extent as they developed Walter's character into a seemingly invincible super hero who's greatest weakness was also his greatest strength.[Edited on February 8, 2017 at 3:34 PM.
