don't have to file taxes this year, but i'd be putting it up to pay for gas if i did
1/24/2008 1:09:04 PM
since income tax is progressive, why not make the rebate progressivegive the ones who contribute more income tax a bigger rebate.and fuck that 75K cap, why should I subsidize the rest of America and get no refund?Oh I know, it's because 300 dollars is a lot more to a poor person. Fuck you Marxist pigs.[Edited on January 24, 2008 at 1:14 PM. Reason : ]

because that's not fair to the poor people!

1/24/2008 1:15:09 PM
yeah...because everyone has as much good fortune as you do...everyone who makes under $75,000 a year is worthless
1/24/2008 1:16:10 PM
good, im glad i can provide extra income for those not making at least 75Kyea mecan i deduct 300 off my taxes for a charitable contribution this year?[Edited on January 24, 2008 at 1:17 PM. Reason : ]

teachers who only make $35,000 a year are totally worthless...
1/24/2008 1:17:47 PM
I'm a teacher. i've come to terms with the fact that i'm worthless.
1/24/2008 1:19:12 PM
no one has been forced to do their job since 1865if you don't like what you make, go get an education/better jobbut don't tax the successful
1/24/2008 1:19:45 PM
didn't say they were worthless. show me where i did.if you pay more in taxes because you make more, then you should get more back with whatever rebate they give out. a guy making 300,000 a year and paying over $100k in taxes versus someone who makes $10k paying about $1k in taxes. The guy who makes 300k gets nothing and the other gets $300? that's messed up right therei'm not saying i don't appreciate or respect the people who don't make as much money, but everyone should be treated equally.]
1/24/2008 1:21:17 PM
I think a lot of people forget that if it wasn't for people that make incomes less than $75,000 they would never be making over $75,000. So to really believe that those people don't deserve a little break is spitting in their faces^it wasn't really directed at you, more directed at the whole belief that people with lower incomes don't deserve a little break every now and then.[Edited on January 24, 2008 at 1:23 PM. ^^ the guy making 300K gets nothing^ the people making <75K often realize they would be at home on welfare if not for those of us making >75K, so don't fuck with the leadership[Edited on January 24, 2008 at 1:24 PM. Reason : ]

^^^^Are you one of those people that donate to charity just so you can get a tax deduction? I bet you ask the santa ringing the bell for a receipt[Edited on January 24, 2008 at 1:28 PM. Reason : ]

I mean I still don't see how $300 is gonna boost consumer spending. I mean I spend that much in a month just on fucking gas.
1/24/2008 1:28:30 PM
i dont donate to charityi pay enough in taxes (30K+ a year is a pretty damn good charity contrib)
1/24/2008 1:29:18 PM
that answers any other question I had
1/24/2008 1:30:12 PM
my 10% tithe to the church of scientology also has been recently ruled deductible w00t!
1/24/2008 1:33:38 PM
I donate a lot of money to charities because I believe in their cause. I don't do it solely for a tax deduction, but the reason the gov't lets you deduct it is to encourage people to donate in the first place. If I pay >30k in taxes, a good proportion of that goes to helping the "less fortunate" on welfare. If they're getting an additional $300 for "economy boosting" purposes, then I want something in return, too. My spending doesn't help boost the economy?
1/24/2008 1:35:52 PM
joenumbers, remember that we already make enough money the other argument is: the coorelation between high income and intelligence is high, and intelligent people save rather than spend, therefore why give high income individuals a refund when they are more likely to save and invest than spend it frivilously.
1/24/2008 1:44:12 PM
I really can't wait until I can start paying for universal healthcare in addition to my own personal health insurance. That's going to be AWESOME!
1/24/2008 1:48:03 PM
1/24/2008 2:18:18 PM
so, $600 for me...i mean that's nice and all, but as everyone says, the poors are just going to get further into debtain't stimulating much!
1/24/2008 2:19:50 PM
Hooray, by the context of this discussion I'm worthless! I didn't know that about myself before. As a properly worthless member of society, this check will go straight toward writing off a little credit card debt. Fuck the economic stimulus, I'm improving my own damn situation, thank you very much.

your worth in life is of course measured only by your annual salary!
1/24/2008 3:01:12 PM
the hilarious thing about this is that the money is going to the people who made money.i know they are rebates and all, but it seems like the unemployed, or really poor people need the money more. and obviously that money would be spent immediatelyhalf this money is gonna end up in savings accounts and other investments. maybe they're just trying to save the banks before the saudis own everything just doesnt make sense that they're doing it to help the economy. i'd honestly rather not have the rebate since everyone isnt getting one and its gonna cost 150 billion bucks or whatever. but i guess i'll take it and feel guilty about it
1/24/2008 3:03:33 PM
Sweet so now I get $1800 from the Gov't. w00t w00t!Plus my earned income tax credit or whatever that I get back from having the kids. And this is my first year filing with my second son. FTW! [Edited on January 24, 2008 at 3:05 PM. Reason : ]
