Carpet is fucking stupid anyway. When I build my house there will be no carpeting. Hardwoods and tile ftw.

We don't wear our shoes around the house because walking on the carpet every day in shoes means steam cleaning the carpet more often, and there's really no reason we need to wear shoes. We've never really insisted that people who come over take theirs off, but they always do it anyway. I guess our closest friends just do it because they know we do, and when we have a party or something and there's a pile of 20 pairs of shoes at the door you feel like it's what you should do.

yea it's pretty easy to tell if someone expects you to take your shoes off

either they say something, they do it first as you both enter, or you see shoes sitting next to the door

plus its good to let your feet air out every once and a while...or else they get all fungal. Shoes should not be worn all the time unless absolutely necessary, which is very seldom. Unless you want feet that are weak, prone to fungus, and smelly.

^ boots, for example, are an asspain to take on and off.

my flight boots, for example, require unlacing 1/3 of the way ( 3-4 sets of eyelets).

[Edited on January 20, 2008 at 9:18 PM. Reason : and my house up here in WA is cold as nuts. Even if it's 70 deg inside, the floors are very cold]

shoes are meant to protect your feet from shit

thus, you have no reason to be wearing shoes in the house unless you live in a hut in Zimbabwe

plus, being barefoot is far more comfortable than having shoes

I know some people who leave their shoes inside to keep from tracking filth outside.

My Japanese grandmother makes everybody take off their shoes when they walk into her house

but she has a basket of house slippers for her guests right by the door

One time i took my shoes off while visiting someone's home

when I came to put them back on I found a giant centipede, 3 scorpions, 12 black widows, and a sea urchin in each shoe

needles to say I refuse to take off my shoes when I enter someone's home again

i'll take my shoes off if i know i'm staying and we are doing something relaxing like playing ps3 or watching a movie/tv. If I'm gonna be sticking around hangin out then I have no problem taking my shoes off.

But if we are there to drink, come in come out, or will be standing and moving the majority of the time then I'm leaving my fuckin shoes on. Its not as big a deal during the spring and summer b/c i wear flipflops 90% of the time. But in the fall and winter i'm always in boots...either ropers with 4 sets of eyelits or my cowboy boots and i dont always feel like taking them off.
