Here is your argument. The best course of action is the one that prevents people from drinking and driving Something such as encouraging friends to stop them by making the accomplices. The flaw in your punishment is that it ultimately shifts the burden to someone else... cause they'll get others to drive them places etc. Also you're not really increasing the threat because they're drunk and don't think they're going to get caught anyway so who give a shit what the punishment is until you're being punished...

and the passenger is responsible for being in it.
1/10/2008 11:29:19 PM
look in case you havent noticed, there are always ways around punishmentthat bitch friend of yours got 30 days, im sure thats a great deterrenti dont see any rational basis for punishing a passenger unless it can be proven they forced someone to drive or that they did it with the specific intent of evading the law...that or your argument personally sucks and wouldnt convince a fish to swim[Edited on January 10, 2008 at 11:31 PM. The passenger did not lose control of the vehicle. It was not the passenger's fault. It was a poor choice to do that, but she is not liable in any shape or form.
1/10/2008 11:30:40 PM
actually i barely knew the driver... emily was a good friend of mine on the other hand.
1/10/2008 11:30:50 PM
SeriouslyThirty days.THIRTY DAYS.For doing something irresponsible that killed someone.Someone's life has ended forever. And you get thirty days in some minimum security prison.

I mean I always thought the red light camera was partly to blame too.I mean who the hell designs something to install in the middle of a low cut median that will become a flying anvil during a minor collision. There is a reason street signs bend so easy.......maybe someone should have thought about that when designing the red light camera. If Danielle had been a few tenths of a bac more sober everyone would be saying throw the red light camera people under the bus. I am in no way defending driving drunk, but there is some blame to go around on this one.
1/10/2008 11:36:56 PM
I think i'd kill myself first but guilt weighs a little heavier on my shoulders than othersseriously though my uncle is a prison guard .. the first 30 days are the worst anyway when you have no friends etc.
1/10/2008 11:37:08 PM

1/10/2008 11:37:54 PM

i'm done...i got trolled long enough
1/10/2008 11:43:00 PM
haha how is it getting trolledit sounds quite the opposite, to permit equal blame to the passenger is laughable...and you punitive argument blows
1/10/2008 11:44:11 PM
I was a correctional officer at a state prison. People have found their group within the first week. The rest of their time is spent just kinda hanging out with their new found friends. County jail is a more difficult thing to deal with, mainly because of the penchant for overcrowding. 30 days is a cake walk tho.More often than not, people keep in touch with their cronies once they get out. It's social like a motherfucker.[Edited on January 10, 2008 at 11:47 PM. Reason : .]

She was 20 at the time of the wreck.

You don't seem to understand that being convicted of felony anything means you're pretty fucked in life... without even having to set foot in prison.no jobs no credit nothing...unless you were a career criminal to start with then its just a networking experience..and saying it is just as much em's fault as the drivers is again my belief that you are responsible for the situations you put yourself in.[Edited on January 10, 2008 at 11:49 PM. On the topic of license revocation, permanent or otherwise...It don't mean shit. People still drive they asses to work and all around town. They still drive drunk. They still don't get their cars registered or inspected. They still speed. Basically, they still drive. It's a lame punishment that only creates more work for the state in punishing people for driving with a revoked license...
1/11/2008 5:53:22 PM
What would rather have the state do, Bridget?
1/11/2008 5:57:21 PM
^^ And if they still drive, and they get caught, they go to jail. If they're that stupid, that is.
