as long as it's lead free and your car can take advantage of the higher octane (if you can adjust the timing), i'd say jump on it.

Isn't the cost of the enzyme to break down switch grass really expensive? I saw/read a projection that when this enzyme hit the 1$/gallon for production mark in 10/15 years, then using the cellulose in switchgrass would be a great option, but right now it's too expensive. I think I saw it on the History Channel.

corn is by far one of the most pointless sources of ethanol...the only reason it's used so often is the same reason the US uses corn syrup instead of real sugar - it keeps american farmers in business

switchgrass is better, but still pretty inefficient

i think the best source of ethanol right now is miscanthus, by almost double:

"knee grow they have a fucking knock sensor

its part of OBD"

true, but that's only a band aid and a safety feature to temporarily prevent damage. even with a knock sensor, if you're consistently running bad fuel it's going to cause damage eventually. it's just retarding the timing as it detects any noise, nothing more.

they're also hardly 100% accurate at detecting exactly what's pre detonation and what's not. by the time it's loud enough for the sensor to pick it up or for you to hear it, it's really bad. the large majority of damages that occur from spark knock you never hear it.

what about it? we've already mentioned a few places around here to get it. however, it's pointless and a waste of money unless you're running a lot of boost, higher compression, etc.

just an added note to this, cat converters are the only thing preventing you from running leaded fuel. it's fine otherwise.

Here you go, this is an interesting read. Mass production of Ethanol using other organic materials in the works and could be viable as early as this year.

^ cool article...a plant pumping out 1% of the world's ethanol by 2011 would be pretty cool...makes me wonder if i should buy a diesel now or an ethanol car later

yeah, I got a kick about that. But it's still in the research steps right now. I'm sure in 5 years, it will be at least 2% Unless we can find a way to use children's laughter as a fuel source...
