thats called respecting their culture, you don't automatically gain their morals based on their laws.

moral relativism is the weakest possible philosophical paradigm. To use it means an absence of thought. To be moral relativist, you don't have to think, because everything anywhere, is ok.

^^Yes, but the idea of women walking around half naked is so morally repugnant to them that they made a law forbidding it. If abortion is really so morally appalling, won't the american people eventually demand en masse that the law be changed? That certainly hasn't happened so far. Therefore the morals of americans must be either in sync with abortion or at least not opposed to it strongly enough to legislate against it.

dumbass.

70% of americans believe homosexuality is wrong (referenced by referendums that have been passed by EVERY state who has had them), and it's not against the law, therefore, by smc logic, it is moral, but immoral according to the populace.

^^^Apparently they don't believe in it strongly enough to outlaw it, as Middle Eastern countries do.

I would call that apathetic acceptance, and it implies that their views on the morality of homosexuality don't really influence them enough to matter.

or that in order to change laws, it requires a supermajority, and not just a majority.

Well that settles it then. The right to an abortion supercedes the immorality of it.

im ok with admitting that ive made a decision with a girl before to abort a child we made, and that im sure we are both really happy we made that choice now. cause that poor kid would have been doomed.

i also know doctors and lawyers and etc etc etc that were pregnant at an early age who aborted. its gotta be close to status quo these days

Your morals were not taught by your religion, they were taught by your particular minister who is no less a sinner or mortal than you or I. Certainly you should be guided by the teachings of your particular church but don't fall victim to narrow and judgemental preachings based on one ministers interpretation of the Bible. If you morals are what you truly believe, so be it. But, don't base your beliefs on what a church taught you-- if you do you may find your views narrow and without compromise.

yes they were. and no minister influenced. it my morality is decreed by religion. it's as simple as that. my religion is a way of life, G. it influences my decisions. totally.

I'm pro-choice even though I'm conservative. My opinion is that the government shouldn't dictate what a woman can or can't do in this situation. Religion should not play a role in law-making nor should the law interfere with someones right to practice their religion. I'm speaking pretty directly to this issue. I am not saying people should be able to do whatever they want regardless of its consequence on other citizens, because thats certainly not my opinion.

who cares ? we all know abortion is fine considering it was rape, possible death of the mother, etc. in this case if Britney Spears would have aborted her children it would have been fine. it would have been in the best interest of the children.

Jamie-Lynn has to answer that question, but for some reason I could see her being a good mother and becoming the spokesperson for the "PRO-LIFE" movement. her PR people should spin it.

i'm a Conservative too, but I apply reason and logic, G. abortion is fine depending on the circumstances. that's my take on it.

it's weird because most pro-lifers think that sex before marriage is wrong, but then they celebrate teen preggos. talk about a mixed message

truthfully it is a little contradictory. i think sex before marriage is fine as long as it's defined as monogomous by both partners. my parents never had an issue of me having sex before marriage and neither did my high school gf's parents. we spent the night at each others places. she was on the pill and we used condoms (we stopped eventually though / but the pill covered us). my parents were fine with it. this was at age 16, which is sort of like an adult as long as you have an open relationship with your parents.

It's not hypocritical... it's ownership of mistakes.

Is it hypocritical to say, ok you stole that candy bar, now apologize?

Even though we believe that stealing is wrong? Would an apology be wrong?

Don't have sex before you're married. Oh shit, you did it, you're pregnant, this is now you're responsibility, now own up.

"I'm 100% sure that the kid will turn out to be a total failure."

If you're not willing to admit to a 100% fucked up kid, you have to admit that you're killing people who would not have been detriments to society, and may have actually be beneficial.

she should just have the fetus and raise it till we know if the fetus has profitable atributes and then decide whether or not to abort it. you can totally do it. it's not human till it qualifies for a boat-loan
