You think you enjoy the cold. Alot of people from the south have this romantisized vision of what winter in the north really is. It's not all "yay snowball fights! look at the pretty snow!" It's alot of, "Holy fuck I haven't seen the sun in three weeks, I have to get up at 5am to bundle up because it's fucking two degrees and has been for a week and shovel my driveway for the 3rd time this week then start my car and let it run for a bit before I can actually go to work. Oh, look it's me power/gas bill, WHAT THE FUCK did they light the entire fucking middle east on fire and charge me for it?"

Shut the fuck up. I grew up in New England. I can't wait for a chance to be back there again. Some of us do enjoy shoveling snow. Some of us do enjoy big cities. Get over it.

I like shoveling snow. It's a good trade off for actually fucking getting snow.

^^we've gotten one big snow storm here in NYC in the 3 winters I've been here. For the most part the winter is no different than parts of NC. LOTS of rain though, I fucking hate it (we average a significant amount more than Seattle, FWIW).

I moved away from NC over 2 1/2 yrs ago and while its been fun I'm looking to come back

jesus christ, that was uncalled for. Either you are crazy or you have been in the south so long that you have become one of the people who romantisizes cold weather. if you truly enjoy shoveling snow, and not just once or twice for the novelty, but all winter long, you're the only person I've ever heard of that does.

I think it's more of I miss being a kid in the snow, with your friends. When you're an adult, snow is a pain in the ass.

I know it's fun to be mean to people on the internets, but what are you talking about? I said maybe you have been in the south too long that your memory of the north is warped. I can read.

not all people in the south are little bitty people with little bitty minds that can't understand the big bad cold

and i don't want to move for the weather anyway. i want to move for lifestyle. i'm sick of teeny tiny grassy suburbia. get. me. out. (no offense, cary. <3 you.). i like big, i like fast, like cities on grids, i like walking, i like smog, dirt, public transportation, tall buildings, bums, expensive movies and beers, loud people, traffic. bring it.

I did not intend to insult your intelligence, and if that's what you're after, awesome I hope you find it and enjoy it. I'm just refering to personal experience with people who think they will enjoy "the big bad cold" much more than they actually do.

I grew up in NC. Most of my friends and family are spread across this state. I went to college here & have worked here and am very fond of the triangle area. But I do want more of an adventure.

These are a couple of cities on the shortlist.

NC: Population Total 8,049,313
NYC: Population City 8,250,567

Getting to be a part of that. That much access to different peoples, cultures, foods, and amenities does have an appeal.

Although it'll be at least 4 or 5 years before I get a chance to move. At least I'll still be able to experience living in a real city while I'm in my 20's.
