lol race card...the sample is too small, and needs to be repeated to get any sort of clear picture

I bet even on a larger sample, the numbers would have the same skew (but probably less, because this sample size is really small). But I would also imagine that it would be easy to game a test like this by picking locations based on the economic demographics. There likely would be a stronger correlation with economics than race. The other factor is that if people didn't realize the gift certificate was a gift certificate, they wouldn't feel too inclined to go out of their way to give someone back their $2. That's not even a gallon of gas. And the gift certificate does look ridiculously fake.In any case, I don't see how this if really meaningful at all, in the grand scheme of things, other than to fuel internet debatez.

I always enjoy little tests like this because it does make you think about what you would do and what you value and what is honest. You find an ad for an old car in the paper and go to check it out. An old lady's husband has passed away and she's tryna sell the car cause she needs some cash to pay for some of her husband's debts. She's old, upset at her husband's passing, and she clearly doesn't know how much the car is worth. You get it for $5000 less than it's actually worth. Is that good business? Did you just get lucky? Did you somehow "deserve" such a good "break"? Have you done something shameful? Or is this just the American way? Is the American way shameful? That old lady should have checked the value of the car before selling, right?Just like people should do a better job of holding on to their wallets...It sucks a big one, and I hate it...but this is America, baby.[Edited on January 5, 2008 at 3:01 AM. If the wallet contains $2 and no credit cards, driver's license, or other stuff that might be costly to replace why would anyone go through the effort to return it? If I lost $2 and someone called me on the phone and said "hey I found your $2 come meet me at [some location greater than 500 feet away]" I'd say "fuck it, keep the $2". This is not a real test of integrity unless they stick credit cards, substantial quantities of money and/or IDs that may be costly to replace (or lead to identity theft if lost).

i find it amusing so many people are arguing about how skewed or un-skewed the "experiment" was when none of us were there to see. no one can say for sure if it was just whites and blacks, or if there were other races involved. so just drop it.the only thing i really gathered from this was that younger people are more likely to take the wallet then the old people. But i probably could have told you that already anyways.

one time i found a purse and returned it to the owner (had wallet, phone, etc inside) and i didn't even take a "tax."one time a black guy stole my wallet from my football locker in high school.THE EVIDENCE IS SOLID FOLKS.

Has anyone investigated the average incomes of the races involved in that area? Also, has anyone realized that for the sample groups involved, the statistical significance of the racial differences (and all of the other differences, for that matter) is pretty insignificant?Just because there are more black people than white people in one place at one time in this one study with such a small sample group means NOTHING about the actual honesty of any race, age, etc.

in the 100 person sample, nobody was anything but straight-up black or whitethat seems very plausible
