he isn't terrible... at least he's pretty scrappy and can bring some enthusiasm to the court. we need it right now. oh, and he had more assists than farnold last game

I was pleased with Javi's play considering that it was his first time getting significant minutes in a college basketball game. The fact that Lowe let him run the show for 23 minutes suggests he was pleased with Javi's play as well. The guy is a freshman, so turnovers are to be expected. And we need Javi to get as much experience/confidence as possible before ACC play. He made some mistakes, but he also got 7 rebounds and made some nice passes too, like the no-looker to JJ in the post. I'm sure it was a great learning experience for him, and I predict he will eventually be better than Degand, but time will tell. They've both done better than I expected so far. Hopefully Johnson will be solid as well, but I doubt he plays much at point.[Edited on December 17, 2007 at 9:55 PM. Reason : .]

Freshmen and inexperienced players need to make their impact on defense first. The best and most likely way for them to help the team is on the defensive end. Offensive skill only comes with time. If Javi can learn to bother and disrupt the other team's PG, he will have earned his freshman PT.

i say this guy is lucky if he gets on the court for more than 5 minutes.
12/21/2007 5:14:33 PM
if nothing else, he becoming eligible means that fergy has played his last meaningful minutes here
12/21/2007 5:21:54 PM
where the fuck is this lil ngr
12/21/2007 5:31:08 PM
Wow no playing time. Marques was really highly recruited and has to be better than Javi.
12/23/2007 12:21:48 AM
I'm not really surprised that Sid didn't feel like giving a guy his first ever minutes here during a close game against a scrappy team.I think we'll see him get some time over the next few games.
12/23/2007 12:23:05 AM
Told you guys. Personally, I'm ready to see furgie get these minutes. Sure he can't create anything and may have trouble bringing the ball up or playing d but the same can be said about these "point guards". They don't even look comfortable dribbling. At least trevor can shoot it and we wouldn't have to play so much 5 on 4. I rather play nieman ball. We need a guy capable of shooting open 3s out there.

I was impressed. He's a little tenative, but he doesn't look completely terrified of scoring like Javi does.

marques johnson sighting at best buy in cary, along with fergie and big ben
12/28/2007 5:21:56 PM
^really?what were they buying?? some ipod stuff? lol
12/28/2007 6:09:56 PM
hopefully some talent
12/28/2007 6:14:59 PM
yeah they were buying some ipod things and other handheld electronics so ferguseon could occupy himself duriing games since he won't be playing at all
12/28/2007 6:15:05 PM
I must say, Johnson looked confident and I felt good when the ball the basketball was in his hands...I'm not giving him a cookie yet...but I saw some things (back door at the end of SH game, hitting free throws, ball handling) that I liked. He may be...just maybe...be the man.
12/28/2007 6:25:25 PM
he needs to start hitting some 3s before i give him the title of "da man". i know he was just easing himself back into real game like situations yesterday and probably was ordered to not try and do too much, but we really need someone to step up and become an outside threat.hopefully costner can get his shot back and looking like the shane battier type of player that we saw at the latter portion of the season.
12/28/2007 7:47:03 PM
i agree with the previousposter that he looked decent considering its his first time playing in awhilewhen he was in we scoredwhen javi was in we fell apart

12/28/2007 10:48:26 PM
^indeed
12/28/2007 10:55:08 PM
javi seems terrified when he has a wide open shot with nobody even 20' near him.
12/29/2007 12:46:10 AM
definitely outshined javi this afternoon.
12/29/2007 6:02:17 PM
I saw the ball hit javi's face while he was just dribbling. Does not exude much confidence right now.

this is the only thing he has done all year to help our basketball team score points..this pass to hickson. other than that, he has been useless
12/30/2007 7:37:01 PM
javi is getting way too much shit. honestly.
12/30/2007 7:50:44 PM
Some of you are forgetting how many steals Javi has gotten or caused simply by getting into the passing lanes or playing heads up basketball and smacking the ball out of an opposing players hands, a lot of times when it's not his man. He is still just a freshman. He's been put in a stressful situation. Most freshmen hardly even play, and have a year to develop and get used to the system. Instead he's being asked to play a significant role on the team. Ced didn't look great as a freshman. McCauley didn't look great as a freshman either. But look at how far they came from their freshman to their sophmore years. This reminds me of all the asshats getting on Grant in the past but are now kissing his butt.

12/30/2007 9:00:56 PM
yeah you guys are right. his 0.1 points per game are honestly too much to handle. let's give him the floor vs ty lawson. yeah
12/30/2007 9:25:49 PM
^ b/c pts are ALL that matter
12/30/2007 9:28:03 PM
That steal he got in the backcourt of the last game or the game before it was huge.
12/31/2007 12:05:10 AM
^^ pretty much. in fact i was giving him credit for the pass in the pic above. not his points scored.hope javi can get off a good shot or 2 before we hit the season vs unc then clemsonthat's all. i ain't hatin on him
12/31/2007 9:30:54 AM
rat, youre an idiot. PG's are supposed to be pass first / shoot secondAssists would be more important than points for a PG since he is the guy on the floor getting everyone into the right set please...shut the fuck up
12/31/2007 10:26:19 AM

fuck! you got me!
12/31/2007 10:37:36 AM
That was a pretty dumb thing to say though, points scored are one of the least important statistics for a point guard of all things.Atsur rarely broke double digits last year but he was absolutely crucial to us.
12/31/2007 10:38:43 AM
12/31/2007 10:59:54 AM
hey idiot, did i say Javi was an assist machine? I was pointing out the fact that you fucking clueless if you think that the PG's most important stat is points.its assists and assists to turn over ratio. so please, eat a dick!Thanksgunz(Z) since you cant even get that right[Edited on December 31, 2007 at 12:35 PM.
