Some will drop but they may wait till NH - at the precinct on TV both Biden and Richardson had over 10% on the first ballot[Edited on January 3, 2008 at 8:55 PM. Reason : .]

Damn. 24% in for the Democrats per MSNBC.Edwards 33%Clinton 32%Obama 32%
1/3/2008 8:52:46 PM
According to CNN. Huckabee wins Iowa Caucuses.
1/3/2008 8:58:58 PM
186 for Obama - 116 for Edwards - 74 for Clinton at the precinct on TV could end up a good night for Obama if the larger precincts are favoring him (as they probably haven't reported yet)
1/3/2008 8:59:10 PM
It's looking like a neck-and-neck race for 4th between Paul and McCain at the moment - Thompson looks (surprisingly!) poised for third. (Now, how he managed that is a wonder...)
1/3/2008 9:00:14 PM
According to Charles Gibson on ABC,Huckabee wins it, Romney 2nd-placeObama wins it, Clinton 2nd-placemy personal favorite though, "Edwards a disappointing 3rd"ha ha ha.

Given her aura of inevitability, placing third isn't exactly a stellar performance for The Woman Who Would Be President By Marriage.
1/3/2008 9:09:25 PM

Well, I'm just reiterating what I heard, of course at this point it is too soon to say anything with certainty... ... however, I think the point it that since Edwards has focused on Iowa he ought to do better there, and obviously he is not doing all that well.I don't find Thompson getting 3rd place all that surprising, he is more conservative than most.
1/3/2008 9:11:30 PM
How is Romney taking second in Iowa considered a loss?Easy. Return on investment. And that investment, for those two at least, ain't returning at anything approaching a decent rate.

It is such bullshit that Iowa and N.H. get so much more say so when it comes to choosing the candidates from each party to run in the election. Our entire presidential election process is a fucking sham and is hardly what i call a democratic institution. Insulted is what Classical Greece Athens would be if they knew our gov't compares our free democratic system to that of theirs.
1/3/2008 9:33:14 PM
^ If only those 300 Spartans knew what they were dying for I agree though, Edwards finish a major disappointment for him.
1/3/2008 9:38:18 PM
Uh... Sparta was Athens' hated rival. Maybe you knew that. (Maybe not.)(Also, they weren't even a democracy. More of a military junta.)[Edited on January 3, 2008 at 9:42 PM. Reason : also...]

Did you even bother to read the follow-up reply that I posted to that matter, or were you too busy using that eye-roll emoticon? I mean, I'm just curious and all.
1/3/2008 10:08:45 PM
yeah i read it. return on investment, blah blah blahshe was in a dead heat for the lead with like 30% reporting and you declared she was being "stomped"then tried to spin it into her being "stomped" because she wasn't annihilating everyone else. what if clinton had ended up with the plurality, with say, 35% instead of obama?did she still get "stomped" 35% doesn't seem like such an awesome return on investmen[Edited on January 3, 2008 at 10:17 PM. Reason : .]
1/3/2008 10:13:51 PM
So, you read the words, but did not process them. Gotcha. And if she'd ended up with the plurality, then no, she wouldn't have gotten stomped. She'd have just wasted buttloads of money on a fairly narrow margin. As it is, she came in behind Edwards, who basically has next to nothing to his name. Frankly, that's telling - she invested a crapload in Iowa and really doesn't have a lot to show for it. And in "reality land," we like to call that a swift kick in the ass. Kind of like the one hilariously delivered to Romney.[Edited on January 3, 2008 at 10:17 PM. Reason : .]

1/3/2008 10:22:38 PM
hahahaha selectively quote? dont try and backout now just because you deleted it. the only statement i left out of that was the fact that you said you agreed it was BS. but that doesnt mean that the mere fact you thought they were justified because he might not end up in double digits didnt change because of that so i left it out, besides it was like right above mine, wasnt trying to hide anything.one of the main reasons he ISNT as competitive is the fact that he was getting screwed over by the media left and right! the mere fact that he is in double digits at the moment with the way he was treated by the media is a victory in its own right.so if yo meant something else or you were being sarcastic it didnt come out right thats for sure[Edited on January 3, 2008 at 10:25 PM. well im sorry i read it as fox IS justified and saying "their rules are bullshit, i know, but still" seemed to further support, i agree it was stupid to leave him off in principal but in the end they are still justified.maybe im the only one that read it that way but it wasnt worded clear thats for sure.im sorry and its not worth arguing about if thats not what you meant at all then.

1/3/2008 10:35:55 PM
yeah that was awful.chances of a ron paul speech?where are the republican speeches?
1/3/2008 10:36:37 PM
^ Huckabee talking now.McCain is now in third, having passed Fred Thompson.Based on the numbers, it looks like the Democratic turnout for the caucuses is going to double the Republicans. Maybe the typical Iowa Republican just cares less about politics than the typical Iowa Democrat, but this is a 50/50 state in general elections, that is a huge difference. What is everyone's opinion on this?
1/3/2008 10:39:56 PM
Iowa is such a lame statePeople only remember they're a state every 4 yearsSeriously...who cares what Iowa thinks?
