last time I checked, West Virginia wasn't on the Atlantic coast. Kinda part of what the ACC is.. all the states have Atlantic Ocean coastlines. But yea, I would've taken Rutgers (now that they're good), UConn, SC, ECU over BC.[Edited on December 2, 2007 at 11:42 PM. Reason : ]

were you really expecting a filled stadium in FLORIDA for a team from BOSTON and a team from VIRGINIA? come on...
12/2/2007 11:45:05 PM
^^^ touche.. I guess we can also consider Kentucky isn't really in the Southeast..^ the VT crowd looks pretty good, especially knowing how many times VT has been in Jacksonville the past 10 years. Gator bowls in 94,98,02,06 (05 and 07 ACC championships)... Fans tend to get tired of traveling to the same place over and over again. The same game in Charlotte would've been 90% filled with Hokie fans.[Edited on December 2, 2007 at 11:50 PM. Reason : ]

^^ yes. if people can come to greensboro, they should love florida!
12/2/2007 11:49:55 PM
Typically teams and fanbases have more time to plan a bowl trip than an ACC Championship Game trip as well. VT and BC didn't know they were going until last Saturday.
12/2/2007 11:52:28 PM

^^ should we expect anything typical in this system if we want highly competitive teams playing for spots till the last week?no. we want drama. charlotte makes the most sense then and now.
12/3/2007 12:18:29 AM
VT and Miami were good additions. BC blows. We would've been better off going with a team geographically below Maryland, or if we went up no higher than Penn State.Move the championship to Charlotte. NC is the home of the ACC.
12/3/2007 12:46:43 AM
offtopic but where does all the money the ACC / NCAA bring in go?
12/3/2007 12:59:32 AM
to fielding winless volleyball teams
12/3/2007 1:05:34 AM
to the fund to get live wolves at Carter-Finley.
12/3/2007 4:15:21 PM
i hear that one's coming along nicely.
12/3/2007 4:18:00 PM
That's just pathetic.
12/3/2007 4:22:10 PM
wow when State played Notre Dame in the Gator Bowl in Jacktown a few years back, it was a lot more full than thatI heard something today that maybe 8 of the schools in the ACC are located within 275 miles of Charlotte...it just makes sense to have the game at BofA Stadiumi think originally Florida sounded like a good idea...I mean hey its gonna be Florida State and Miami playing for the conference title every year right? Oh wait its actually two teams whose schools are located in Virginia and Massachusetts, whoops

^ Plus they have a "national" fanbase. There aren't a lot of Catholics in northern Indiana.
12/3/2007 4:38:57 PM
i think every catholic in the country claims ND as at least their second team.
12/3/2007 4:40:40 PM
^^^Uhhh the stadium was ~80% State fans.Team running out before the game, fans still filing in.During the 4th quarter. See the corners of the upper deck.Jacksonville Landing night before the game.[Edited on December 3, 2007 at 6:14 PM. Reason : .]

^^ Yeah, I was there. But the Irish fans that were there still blew the doors off what BC brought for the ACC title game.I was a few rows from the very top horizontal with the endzone. Jacksonville Landing the night before the Gator Bowl was insane. You could hardly walk it was too many people. And then there was a monsoon after the fireworks and I had to walk all the way cross that bridge soaking to get to my car.[Edited on December 3, 2007 at 6:55 PM. Reason : .]
12/3/2007 6:52:22 PM
clearly, the 80% estimate was incorrect.
12/3/2007 6:53:26 PM
Well, it was probably still 3:1 State to ND fans. There is a substantial number of locals that you can't tell who they are cheering for, not to mention much of the ND side was local companies, etc. A number of the ND sections ended up going to State, because we bought up our allotment and then some before ND ever got the bowl bid. And the proportions say more about State's traveling than it does about ND's bowl attendance, because there simply weren't any tickets left for them. The players remarked on being shocked at it being essentially a home game for State when they walked out of the tunnel.
12/3/2007 7:07:24 PM
3:1 is 75% state fanslook at the damn picture
12/3/2007 7:09:02 PM
Looks like 75% state fans to me.
12/3/2007 11:25:42 PM
looks like a red x to me
12/3/2007 11:28:15 PM
^^ you can't be serious. there's a whole sideline and endzone that's blue.
12/3/2007 11:30:21 PM
They don't like having bowl or championship games in cold weather. The only logical alternative would be the georgia dome but the sec got there first. Basketball was great in Tampa. Tampa+ spring break= One of the best ever. It should be there often. I'm a big fan of DC as well. Great city to spend time in. Charlotte and Atlanta are also good but Greensboro is awful. Old, bad arena and horrible city. Should never be there.
12/3/2007 11:33:30 PM
12/4/2007 12:39:44 AM
^^^You mean there is an endzone and side that isn't 90% red? I see a hell of a lot of State fans on the "Notre Dame" side. I guess you are also giving Notre Dame credit for the neutral locals and corporate partners. That's fine, though. All that matters is the bowl officials were blown away by our following. And for the record I said 3:1 State to ND fans, which subtracts out the people that weren't there for either team.[Edited on December 4, 2007 at 1:24 AM. Reason : .]
12/4/2007 1:00:28 AM
^ there's also a few chunks of blue on the right sideline.i'm not trying to say we don't travel or anything, but this is clearly not a 75% state crowd.
12/4/2007 1:12:18 AM
Looks red in every section even if just a little
12/4/2007 1:58:47 AM
The Notre Dame "all-green shirt zone" that took up about 3 sections was down at the other end of the field in the lower bowl, on the left side across from the endzone in that corner. There were scattered pockets elsewhere, and their band, which was HUGE.[Edited on December 4, 2007 at 7:13 AM. Reason : .]
12/4/2007 7:01:14 AM
i was there as well, and it seriously was State Fans 3:1 over ND fans.i remember getting into it with a member of ND's tuba line when they got on the field at halftime for their show...(we were killin them at half)...ahhhh good times
12/4/2007 2:06:13 PM
well it looks like i got my wish!!!!
12/17/2007 12:10:53 PM
the ACC just continues to fuck this up. tampa bay is even further south than jacksonville, and we all saw how spectacular attendance was there. i guess they're really banking on a miami/FSU championship game for the next two years. cuz that looks real likely
12/17/2007 12:20:11 PM
ACC Football championship should permanently be in CharlotteACC Basketball championship should permanently be in Greensboro.the end
