11/26/2007 4:46:40 PM

11/26/2007 6:04:48 PM
I bet you don't even know how to sail
11/26/2007 6:13:13 PM
i actually do not that well, mind you, but i only had a couple hours to learn it in
11/26/2007 6:13:56 PM
Then you, sir, are a "navy man" in my book. I might just have to start my own "ask the (real) SAILor thread"
11/26/2007 6:26:01 PM
I mean, when I have the opportunity, I'd like to get to do some real sailing on a little sailboat of my own.But steel and engines will do for now. For me, there is no greater feeling than to have the wheel of a ship in my hand.
11/26/2007 8:08:49 PM
My father was in the Navy, He never drank Budweiser again.
11/26/2007 8:17:29 PM
I've never drank Budweiser to begin with. It's piss beer, really.
11/26/2007 8:22:48 PM
Why do battleships have wooden plank decks?
11/26/2007 8:26:51 PM

11/26/2007 10:35:53 PM
Well, if my nose starts to grow when I lie, yes.

chembob...is it true that sailors suck cock to prevent scurvy, rickets and primitive forms of STD's
11/27/2007 2:04:43 AM
dont need battleships when you are getting rail guns
11/27/2007 2:38:44 AM
^^ ^yea, i can't wait to see those in action
11/27/2007 8:14:42 AM
11/27/2007 9:06:59 AM
11/27/2007 9:12:21 AM
Have you ever been on a deployment?
11/27/2007 9:21:02 AM
^^^ I was always told that the reason Battleships had wood decking surrounding the guns was because the recoil from the 16" cannons buckled the decks when they were first running sea trials on battleships. They originally had steel decking, but switched to wooden planking because it can expand and contract enough that the recoil effects are minimized wherein a steel deck would result in constant repairs. That may not be true though.

11/28/2007 10:06:15 PM
If you just happened to be writing a paper on maritime security and unconventional forms of terrorism, that is due tomorrow... what would you think is the biggest threat?
11/28/2007 10:09:07 PM
well, to the US Navy, I would say the fact that we're not as prepared as we should be in fighting in littoral areasoverall, piracy.
11/28/2007 10:12:07 PM
Hmm, I was hoping you'd say scuba as a form of terrorism But I guess piracy is legitimate too.
