Went to leith BMW today to pick up a few parts for work and now i'm thinking about buying a 2004 325
11/25/2007 12:50:44 AM
I'll probably buy a Ferrari 360 Modena and a new toilet because I'm so full of shit.
11/25/2007 12:54:36 AM
Mine will be a 996. I was ready to pull the trigger on one that I liked a couple of weeks ago, but it sold before I could pick it up. I'm having to help my sister a bit currently, so I'm probably going to have to wait a few months.I'd love a GT3, but currently can't afford one. I'd do that in a heartbeat if I had a decent job like you guys do...PS: Don't take this the wrong way, but if you'd consider the C4 against a GT3, I suggest you drive them both, I bet you'd like the C4 better. The GT3 will probably be a bit too rough for you.Ahmet

Not that you were serious about the 360, but I have something to say...And maybe I say this because I'm jealous (I've felt this way about other cars that I've eventually come to appreciate once I spent more time with them), but I don't think the 360 is that great a car. A 911 GT3 is more involving, and every bit as capable as a 360 at a $40-50k discount. I'm just not into Ferraris, save for a few classics and the 333SP. Ahmet

11/25/2007 11:22:45 AM
planning on picking up a 1990 Bronco (full-size) this week. built 302, rebuilt 5spd, D44 front (I think), 10.25 rear, Detroit lockers front and rear, 1000W stereo, 35" rubber, pretty sizeable lift...and I talked him down to $2000 from $3500 on the condition that he gets to keep the winch that's currently mounted on the front.(the engine, trans, and axles have like 10-15k on them...chassis has 225k or so)[Edited on November 25, 2007 at 4:07 PM. probably still the d44 ttb. unless it's been swapped for a solid axle.
11/25/2007 5:06:20 PM
that new accord that is diesel and gets like 80 miles per gallon
11/25/2007 5:23:43 PM

11/25/2007 5:24:18 PM
Oh, 1 owner Florida car. Sport seats/wheels/wheel, presumably LSD/sport suspension, but it's at a dealer who doesn't... know a whole lot about the car (no surprise there).Ahmet
11/25/2007 5:25:22 PM
either e46 m3, boxster s or 996 here - getting back into the whole driver's car thing now that I don't have to use one to commute
11/25/2007 5:37:16 PM
I'm thinking about getting a new civic si when I graduate, or the new nissan GTR, but I don't like having car payment straight out of school, so probably the civic si.

^Man I've really wanted since I was 16...but now I want a black one with a lot less miles. If I am thinking practically, I should get a sedan and not a very flashy one at that. It wouldn't be good to have a really flashy car at the job I'm expecting to get. More likely than not I will just get a used Lexus GS300 and be done with it. Reliable, sorta fun to drive, great customer service and a lot better mileage that what I'm used to. I really want a late model diesel Benz but the premium you pay for that motor isn't really worth the fuel savings I'd get. Knowing my luck, when I'm 45 years old and a damn M Coupe sells for stupid money I'll wish I'd bought and kept one...

Exactly, the air cooled ones have sorta leveled-off depreciation wise. 98's are generally worth more than 99's if you see what I mean?
11/25/2007 11:57:52 PM
i think he knows thati think he is observing that a 993 costs as much or more than a 996 and has stopped depreciating
11/25/2007 11:58:39 PM
Thought it was going to be this... But now, most likely something like this...(already have it, just have to finish restoring it)[Edited on November 26, 2007 at 12:20 AM. Reason : .]

maxima/camry/accord family car. 4cylinder for ease of maintenance. Even in my sister's '92 camry 4cyl, I hardly ever need full throttle, so what's the point of going v6 260hp? I'm not saying a 4cyl camry is powerful, I'm saying I don't drive family cars like hotrods I wanted a crown vic but the wife hates them. And then I decided I'd do fine with a jap 4banger. Plus, metric >>> standard

I'm thinking I may sell the Marauder sometime in 2008 if I can get enough for it to break even on my loan. $320/mo car payment wasn't the most financially sound decision when I'm trying to pay off credit card debt and get funds together to think about buying a house. Likely replacements could be:-early-mid 80's Mercedes 300D/300TD if "good on gas" is a primary consideration-Another Mark VIII (if I can find one with less than ~75K miles and working air suspension), early 90's Mercedes 300CE, mid 90's Audi A4 1.8T, '89-'91 Volvo 780 Turbo if "semi-reliable and can be had for around/under $5K" is a primary consideration-3rd or 4th-gen ('86-'93) Accord or 2G ('88-'92) Prelude if I get exceptionally cheap and sensible (i.e. boring)[Edited on November 26, 2007 at 11:27 AM. ^^well, you should have posted here. i have a clean one for sale just like mine (99/4wd/7.3/auto/lariat) except it's red and stock.that dp and exhaust MIGHT be enough. with all the crap on mine, it weighs in a good 2-3k lbs. more than yours probably. my transmission is in pretty poor health too.[Edited on November 28, 2007 at 3:12 AM. Crown Victoria police package, probably will buy from highway patrol. My dad had a civilian crown vic when I was a teenager and I loved how it handled. First thing I'll do when I get it is stick some antennas on the trunk and scare the shit out of people on the highway.
11/28/2007 9:30:26 AM
you loved how a civilian crown vic handled?

^It was like driving a marshmallow with a V8, I loved the power when I would step on the accelerator once the light turned green.
11/28/2007 11:47:29 AM
^I can understand liking the soft ride, but damn if those things don't lean in the corners..."handling" per se isn't really on the radar. If you like Vics though, take a look at a Mercury Marauder sometime. Like a CV/Grand Marquis on steroids. Has the DOHC 4.6 V8 (85 more hp and 58 more lb/ft torque than the standard CV engine), much stiffer suspension, and a bunch of other goodies. Might be out of your price range depending on what you're looking to spend (definitely more expensive than an ex-HP cruiser) but it's the best (stock) performance you're going to get in a big car.
