Fair enough. Maybe if they had charged a little more they would add it.

So one could argue that LSD leads to a driving experience that's not quite as "pure", as both Dr. Porsche and Colin Chapman (of lotus fame) argued, an open diff car handles better. Some of the cars widely considered as greatest handling did not come with LSDs stock, such as Lotus Elise, Noble M12, 944 Turbo, current 911... There are many others. Of those 4, all but the Noble had it as an option. This isn't your trailer-mate's boyfriend's Trans Am, not all cars are meant for burnouts.

PS: LSD (two way/non torsen) increases understeer for the un initiated.

I mean, other than monkeying around on the street, only cars that are not stiff enough seem to benefit from an LSD on track. I didn't get any inside wheel spin on a sport suspension 911 (996), or my 540i sport. But a stock 944 turbo (with 100 more ft lbs) gets boat loads of it.

For me personally, I do too much monkeying around to not want an LSD, but a requirement for good handling it is not.

When i was looking at loti elise's i could have sworn it was an option to add an LSD. Maybe I was dreaming ( i was looking at cars i cant afford, highly probable).

i do believe it is an option, or at least on the newer ones.

unless its like $500 upgrade... its not worth it from the dealer, and there is no way its $500.

I sure as hell can use an LSD when autoxing the GS-R, 30 ft of spinning the inside tire coming off a turn ain't good for times

Well, it's FWD... The Hypre-R's (excellent) LSD earns it's keep on track, that's for sure.

With FWD you've got bad weight distribution, wrong wheels driven, torque steer... so on. LSD's affects on handling is hardly high on the list...

Same here. My brother has the exact same car with the same suspension as my car, but I can rape him in autocross due to his excessive wheelspin (his lack of LSD). That might also be a driver thing not FWD either.

I fucking knew it! New Car & Driver has this Hyundai coupe in the issue.

Curb weight.....3500 fucking pounds.

freaking shameful, but what you expect for the price I guess.

The price?

Its more expensive to make heavier cars dude.

You should blame your countrymen and their insistence on big motors and big features.

lol you silly gooses.

its too good to be true to come out with a 300hp car for $26K that would compete on the market.

its decent enough that it will compete against the stand.

if you expected 2500lb (or below) car. then yeah, thats a different story.

not from a company like hyundai. let them take it one step at a time.

next thing you know they will design a car to compete with the all mighty civic. and that will be the end of the world

"Hyun-Soon Lee, head of Hyundai research and development, recently told executives that the company's new 4.6-liter V8 would be massaged to 380 horsepower in the company's flagship, but the production figure will actually be 375. The Tau engine will shift through a six-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai also revealed that its 3.3L and 3.8L V6 engines will be available in the Genesis sedan, but failed to release and performance numbers or available transmissions. "

Wow, 4.6 litre V8 producing 380 hp?

Lexus LS 460: 4.6 litre V8 producing 380 hp as well.

Damn!

They need to put that engine in the new Tiburon coupe... it would slaughter cars twice its price!

I don't think such a car will be made going forward. Even this years mx5 is near that. I cant think of a car that weighs less than an mx5 that could be considered sporty. The base mx5 doesn't even have a spare tire or a powered roof.

^^Not really. An MX-5 is already well over 2500lbs.

^stop with that shit. its not asking too much for a 3000lb coupe

Oh really??! Last time I checked iron was a lot cheaper and heavier than aluminum, titanium, magnesium, etc Not to mention good engineering can save weight (but that costs more money too)

Hyundai Genesis Coupe Photos Leaked

Quote :
"With a rear wheel drive platform and the entry level engine as a 2.0 liter turbo producing 215hp, the Genesis Coupe is off to a great start. But Hyundai is out for blood and takes it a bit further with a 3.8 liter V6 making approximately 300hp."

Wow, the entry-level model is 215 hp, whereas the top model of the Tiburon was 170 someting hp. I will probably be up for this if I can get it for about $20,000 dollar bucks.

My only qualm about the styling: At the front, the left+right ends of the front lip under the top grille should extend downward to break the bottom ONE LONG ASS grille into 3 parts (as in any other car). That ONE LONG ASS GRILLE looks awkward.

Finally, it can be said:

Hyundai, you are there. GG.

Hyundai planning lightweight Genesis coupe, targa model to follow
