^^ what the fuck are you talking about?

It's a very valid point.

We ruined the ACC basketball format for money.

The ACC is a basketball conference. When I was growing up all ANYONE cared about was ACC basketball.

College football is a subpar sport and we are a subpar conference.

It sucks that we sold our soul for money and it sucks even worse that it backfired so badly. The football is actually WORSE since we started the new conference.

I'm truly disgusted to go to school with some of you idiots. Am I happy about this game? No. Am I going to sit around and complain/whine about it? No...that would make me a UNC fan.

We needed a loss to calm us down, and I guarantee that no one knows this more than Sidney Lowe. We played horribly, and we suffered for it. Sidney will bring us back to where we need to be...he did it in '83, and he'll do it now. Now move on and quit complaining.

Oh please.

The stupid motherfuckers on this board rode Herb's sac til the bitter end.

Then when we got Sidney everyone started shitting on him immediately and calling the Herb haters a disgrace.

When we started losing but looked good doing it (just didnt have the depth/talent) you idiots bashed the team.

Then when we went on a run at years end and it was inherently obvious that Sidney was light years better than Sendek everyone jumped on his nuts.

Now he botches a game about as badly as possible and you guys want to give him a free pass. It's like some people here are always two steps behind.

I'm not saying fire Sidney I'm saying get Ferguson the fuck out of the game. His inability to score, defend, and rebound cost us 10 points out there tonight. That's unacceptable.

We pulled away twice in this game and both times Lowe blatantly subbed in our scrubs to make it close.

We aren't fucking good enough to toy with teams and then hope we make a miracle shot at the end of the game. Not every game ends with NC State on the winning end of an airballed alley-oop pass and the quicker Sidney fucking realizes that the quicker we'll get this season going in the right direction.

Last season it took him 10-15 games to realize we needed to guard people shooting three pointers. I'm not willing to wait 10-15 games for him to realize we need to thin the rotation.

Maybe Engin can get a some fake passport as say, Angan Etsur (yeaahhh that's the ticket) and

come back for another four so somebody will tell this team how to win again.

The fault is more so on the players than sid, hell even Grant said that the majority of the time they didn't run the called plays. And all I can say is that Hickson better get in better shape, because we're going to be depending on him a lot.

yeah post game Grant was talking about it. Hickson was supposed to have gotten a bunch of touches down the stretch but guys were just shooting or passing it elsewhere.

V It was during the post game interview on 101.5.

Anyone who isn't fucking embarrassed right now, is wrong. It would be one thing if we lost to a Davidson or a Nevada but we lost to a bottom tier Sun Belt team. That is pathetic. We need to play with a sense of urgency and that's that. This is, by far, the worst loss we've had since I started school at State in '99 in terms of talent differential. It's unacceptable and it needs to fucking change.

Yes, this could turn out to be the wake up call the team needed or it could be that the reality is we got hot for a weekend and that's it and we aren't as good as we thought. What it actually is, we'll see real soon...

I'm hoping it's the former.

St. Johns was a bottom tier Big East team that took Duke down to the wire that year. UNO is a bottom tier Sun Belt team that would probably get bitch slapped by any mid-tier Atlantic Sun team..

I think so. They aren't even comparable.

^how do you know how bad uno is? they have the sun belt player of the year mccalleb and I thought he was their third best player on the floor tonight. We certainly should've beaten them easily but they are 2-0 and have beaten a ranked team on the road now and until they show differently i'm not going to think they are a shitty team.

One thing that hurt us was not boxing out correctly. UNO had so many second chance points, that it wasn't even funny. We on the other hand had very little. They should each game with the intensity of an ACC game. Like it's their last. That's when we will absolutely destroy teams like UNO. I wish we could transplant Hickson and Grant's motor into the rest of our guys. Those two play hard every game. I know Grant had that stupid foul, but a lot of the guys made stupid mistakes tonight. Hickson even had a bad pass that made me think "WTF was he thinking?" They said that Sid would talk to them about all these upsets that we've been witnessed to and how they can make sure they don't have that happen to them too. They obviously didn't get the message and I'm sure Sid will use this to light a fire under their asses and hopefully they will all play the rest of the season like we know they can.

I think that is too early to start a thread like this, but this is a terrible loss for a couple of reasons:

1. if we are getting back to being a program that can compete in the ACC, you must win these games; every game must be taken seriously - besides Santa Clara a couple of years ago w/ UNC, when do you ever remember UNC or Duke losing to a program like New Orleans? If we are all going to say that we are on par with those guys then we have to prove it.

2. I said last year that it is the easiest thing in the world to coach when your team is picked to finish last; if you are coaching when last is OK, then can't much go wrong. Secondly, while the red blazer was cool, it is the same type of thing with Chuck. If you are going to dress like that (as Chuck did on the sidelines), then you have to be able to back it up or it is the type of thing that gets real old real quick. I said last year that he scared me a little with that b/c it makes it look like those games are more important (which they are but a team can't think that way) and we can't play like that. Chuck beat FSU, but losing to Akron and other teams like that cost him his job.

Not the end of the world, but this was an unacceptable loss for a top 25 team that is on the rise.

^yea I thought about that too....a better way to put it would be he shouldnt have that group of personel on the court at the same time.

Also, part of the reason fergie might be playing so much is that he is playing hard even though he sucks. The other "stars" have sand in their giner so he is stealing some of their minutes.

Fix it sid

This loss will drop us out of the rankings...not that it matter a whole lot in the long run, but it was fun to see NCSU in there for a couple of weeks.

Hopefully, this loss will provide some motivation. Especially since there were several NBA scouts looking at Hickson last night. He may really be gone after this year.

Still, with the type of players and relative depth we have, unless he's on the court and is on fucking fire, there's really no reason for him to be on the court outside of taking over for someone who's about to pass out from exhaustion

oh i know. what i meant was that by wearing that stuff sometimes it makes it seem as though, to the players and the fans, that some games are bigger than others but as a coach you HAVE to make your team believe, as much as possible, that every game is of the same importance. And, also if he wears flashy stuff for big games and does not win it will have the effect after a few years of being ridiculous (a la Chuck)

^^ while this thread is a joke (it was started by rally, and sid's credibility in no way needs questioning as far as i'm concerned), the point is not that we lost, but we looked like shit. there is very obvious tension between the big men, and that is a gigantic problem.

You don't fucking need statistics to prove that fergie is awful.

Just watch the fucking game -- other guards drive by him at will, he is always late on defense, he can't shoot, he can't create for himself, he is barely a threat to do shit, he can't rebound.

He literally has to score a point a minute with great efficiency to make up for all the points and rebounds that he gives up.

Listening to 850 the buzz today, fired off this email after the opening segment:

Quote :
"Heard you ripping my Wolfpack at the beginning of the show. All I have to say is this - keep it up. Say it again and again. I want everyone to know precisely why such a talented team went down this weekend. I've said it repeatedly on this show and to my friends - the Wolfpack are best served in the underdog role. I don't care if they do have a 5-star recruit at center this year, people around the country had the Pack as a Top-25 team preseason. A team that went 5-11 in the ACC and squeaked, yes SQUEAKED, into the NIT. A team that has precisely ZERO experience at point guard, unless anyone wants to see Gavin Grant running the point, and I think the answer is a resounding NO.

I hoped that the Pack's slow play against William & Mary was just a case of growing pains. Now I think it's clear at least part of it is a lack of effort. I saw a Wolfpack team believing in the hype instead of each other. After last season, to see the Pack getting outhustled? That's just inexcuseable. Everybody should going full tilt now that we have the depth to run the floor. I am glad, yes GLAD, to see the Pack get a shot to the face in the form a 3-point bank shot. It's obvious that they need to remember what was like last year, fighting for every win, pushing themselves to the limit, and dangit... just outworking every opponent every minute of every game.

Show me that effort, and MAYBE they'll be the Top 25 team everyone including me thinks they are. "
