It should be "Fry em," but sadly our judicial system is nothing more than Mob rule. The indictment against him could have been rendered years ago, but why now? Because this year he broke the record for home runs. Had he not set the record, or had be been a popular, well-liked athlete, prosecutors would never have touched him.The steroids thing did not violate existing laws or MLB rules (Remember, the MLB did not ban steroids until 2002). Tons of other players used enhancements, steroids, etc. at the time Bonds allegedly did. For years baseball bigwigs, the players' union, and MLB turned a blind eye to this because players were getting more hits and scoring more runs, and thus generating revenue for everyone involved. So Bonds could spend as many as 30 years in prison. Without a real crime having been committed, prosecutors have to fall back on perjury. Ok, even if he did knowingly use steroids and lied about it, would he be facing a prison sentence if he hadn't broken the home run record? You say, absolutely, the rule of law dictates that he committed a crime, and thus he must be punished. Then where is the indictment against rafael palmeiro? Oh wait, he didn't break the home run record. He isn't a reviled, unpopular figure. If the law is going to be enforced here, it must be enforced fairly. Otherwise, this is nothing more than yet another chapter in the pattern of judicial abuse that runs rampant in this country.

if he didnt want to get indicted and go to jail he shouldnt have cheated and disgraced hank aaron's record]
12/7/2007 11:27:52 AM
^ yeah, seriously, it's one or the other. if you're going to cheat, for the love of god don't break any records doing it.[Edited on December 7, 2007 at 11:33 AM. Reason : that kind of thing will get you arrested!]
12/7/2007 11:33:03 AM
i mean thats the reason they're cracking down...i guarantee you that if sosa or mcgwire had broken the record they would be in the same boat as bonds is now
12/7/2007 11:33:42 AM
i think Bobby hit the nail on the head. if he's punished, he should be punished comparably to other violators. be it perjury, obstruction, whatever. just because he was more successful than other juicers, doesn't mean he should be punished more -- this isn't a progressive income tax system.

Please someone explain how he is going to be punished any worse for perjury than another person would be punished were they convicted of perjury
12/7/2007 11:45:19 AM
jeebus, 30 years in prison? Hell 5 years in prison is way too much. If I were him, Id just admit it and give back the records and apologize. Better than getting buttfucked for years and years.

12/7/2007 11:54:03 AM
^^i dont but i know hank aaron's head didnt physically double in size throughout his career
12/7/2007 12:00:44 PM
yeah, but that would still be cheating right? double head size or not!people will always find a way to cheat - the best cheaters will get the record... it's a plus if you don't get caught though (Patriots)[Edited on December 7, 2007 at 12:02 PM. Reason : ]
12/7/2007 12:01:45 PM
it would be cheating although corked bats dont help you hit as far as steroidsalso aaron never admitted to using a corked bat...bonds did however admit to doing steroidsand i dont like the patriots, but in fairness they did get caught and paid the consequences (OH NOES WE LOSE A DRAFT PICK AND SOME MONEY) although i think the pats like that bad guy image[Edited on December 7, 2007 at 12:04 PM. 12/7/2007 12:56:04 PM
well i personally dont because i personally think bonds is a piece of shitand i'm not saying that if multiple people are guilty of the exact same thing that they should be punished differentlyi just think when you're talking about the integrity of the game of baseball and classy hard working players like hank aaron, when you're talking about how we don't want kids to do steroids like their favorite athletes, and generally when we're trying to clean up a sport that has needed cleaning up for awhile, i have zero problem with the biggest recordholder also being the biggest scapegoat
12/7/2007 1:03:14 PM
12/7/2007 1:10:59 PM
^^ I also think Bonds is a piece of shit. But a bigger issue to me is the way our judicial system is handling this. admittedly, if this happened to be centered around Roy Williams or some other big UNC scandal, i'm certain my biases against UNC would trump any semblance of blind eyed justice, but just sayin'
12/7/2007 1:14:34 PM
Bonds appeared relaxed as he smiled and chatted with his cadre of six attorneys. He then stood before the judge with his hands clasped behind his back.....LOL he better get used that position !!
12/7/2007 2:06:33 PM
^^the only issue i have with how the judicial system is handling this is that they'd rather prosecute this than go after more important stuff like murder, rape, etcbut seeing as they are prosecuting, i don't see how he's getting any type of unfair treatment...and its not like he's been sentenced to anything, so do any of us even know if he's being treated fairly or not?and you mentioned at the top of page 2 that at the time steroids werent banned by MLB rules...well heroin and crystal meth arent explicitly banned in MLB rules either...but they're illegal just like anabolic steroids so i've never been a big fan of that argument

12/7/2007 2:48:44 PM
12/7/2007 3:41:01 PM
He is getting the time for "potentially lying to a grand jury......not juicing ! If he is convicted of lying to a grand jury and obstruction of justice he could get lots of time. However I believe he should just be banned from baseball....all his records erased....and not allowed anything to do with the sport ever.....Jail time for doing steroids while playing baseball....noAnd comparing A-Rod slapping a ball out of someones hand is weak[Edited on December 7, 2007 at 6:04 PM. 12/13/2007 6:57:45 PM
Today doesn't change a damm thing....Bonds is still a piece of shit. Anyone who didn't think that steroids was rampant in MLB and all sports for that matter has been living under a rock. In the end Bonds is a piece of trash....that will never change.
