it'll get you motivated when you realize you can't run more than a mile without walking for 10min after every 20 strides.

you dont have nearly enough time to get into decent shape for a 8k...

2 months can get you there from nothing just about, 1 month if you aren't a slob

I absolutely hated running when I was "required" to (thanks Army). But after I got out I used to run 3 miles everyday in the country...never felt better!

Then I discovered the internet. I don't even run to the bathroom now.

Whoever wanted to do the 8k this weekend, You'll be walking most of it. My bf did a 5k recently and he trained for a few months just so he wouldn't walk any of it.

I run on the treadmill and outside. The treadmill helps because I work 11 hour days so it's pitch black when I finally do leave and I put it on an incline.

Right now I'm doing the same distance but trying to do it better, less walking and more running.

I'll go back to doing legs too, I figured running would increase muscle mass in the legs.

I'm taking this nice and slow because I do not want any injuries!

Oh and could someone recommend a good sports bra for bouncy boobies? I ran with the bf yesterday and he asked if I was even wearing one.

the only bad thing really is that it makes your nose run, but a little pseudoephedrine takes care of that

yeah, cold air will get you messed up if you arent use to it and run a long distance.

but like ^ said, the runny nose runs faster than the actual runner

I don't run because the cartilage in my left knee is shot from a high school injury. I did a little running earlier this year and I made the full trek around the paved side of Lake Johnson just to see if I could do it, but then my knee started giving me problems so I quit.

My throat burns when I breathe in the cold air, the runny nose didn't come til I was about halfway done. It was kick ass though.

yeah, thats what I was thinking Think I should just let this one pass and try to find time to run in the mornings before work. I did meet a girl who is running this 8k, so maybe she'll be my motivation. I just wanted to see if I could atleast keep up with her (she hasn't trained in 6+ months)

did you have a soar throat after the run??

i took run conditioning a few years ago at NCSU. i missed the first day of class, where the professor said that the next class meeting is a 1 mile run.

i had no clue, so i showed up with some blue jeans, t shirt and my new balance walking shoes to run 1 mile as best i could.

well i did it in 6:57. and was out of breathe and my throat was soar for the next few days.

at the end of the semester i took my time down to 6:27.

which was pretty awesome. that class works really well

my half mile was around 3 minutes, i was real close to under 6 minutes. but it was difficult.

heh, after running for a while, anything less than 5 miles seems hardly worth the effort

there was a guy in my run conditioning class that swore the only reason why he lost 20lbs was because he ran with a girl. he's a prideful guy and said that running with a girl was great for him cuz he wouldn't stop unless the girl stopped (i guess he thought he'd be less of a man if he stopped before her).

anyway it seems like it worked out for him.

i had a friend who completed a marathon, without stopping because of the butts of women.

its not like he trained a ton for it, but he knew that if it werent for eye candy, he would have gotten bored and walked.

Yeah hopefully that'll work, with her being in a bit better running shape than me at the moment. I just need to stop being lazy in the corporate world

F'in A. Naturally I go to play some soccer last nite and apparently manage to fracture my ankle. Guess it was a bad sign even thinking about running that 8K.

Just kinda spinning behind me, ankle planted but my body kept turning. Sounded like tightly twisting some bubble wrap or something. Not a bad fracture but nasty swelling/bruising and my ankle tightened up like a rock
