^damn. i didnt know that. that sucks. also, why not put "TAMPA BAY" on the grey uni's that will be worn on the road?

What do you think about the Rays trading Delmon Young and Brendan Harris to the Twins for Jason Bartlett and Matt Garza? There were two other minor leaguers involved that I haven't heard of. I like the deal for the Twins because Harris played very well last year and Young is arguably the best young OF in baseball.I understand what the Rays are doing though. They should have a very good 1-2-3 in the rotation next year with Kazmir, Shields, and now Garza. If those guys can stay healthy.
11/29/2007 12:55:16 PM
as a Twins fan I really want Delmon Young...we need somebody to replace Torii (THAT MOTHERFUCKER) and Young is a young studoh yeah it happened, good call^http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/wires/11/29/2010.ap.bba.rays.twins.trade.0889/Bartlett is very replaceable I think, although he is surprisingly quick on his feet...very underrated base stealerI liked Garza as well as a young pitcher, but if we can get Liriano back, and Baker, Bonser and Slowey could be decent starters if/when we lose Johanalso Pat Neshek is a fucking baller as a MR/LR/SU[Edited on November 29, 2007 at 1:04 PM. I've hated the Twins since Kirby Puckett and Kent Hrbek ruined my childhood by beating the Braves in 91.
11/29/2007 1:07:50 PM
i've disliked the braves simply because a large number of my friends have always been braves fans
11/29/2007 1:08:27 PM
Tree I'm just curious...do you have any affiliation with Minnesota or did you just randomly pick them as your team since Charlotte doesn't have one
11/29/2007 1:29:34 PM
i liked Puckett a lot back in the day...basically i started pulling for them in 1987 when they were in the World Series with the Cardinals and I just stayed on the bandwagon since then...I would quickly make them my 2nd team though if we got a local team
11/29/2007 1:31:59 PM
Thats cool but you can't really blame Torii for taking 90 mil from the Angels. I never thought he was that great, I think his great catches made people think he was a great all around played instead of just a very good one. And theres no way he could have held up on that turf with his bum knees. He was probably your 4th best hitter anyway, so I don't think the lineup will suffer that much.
11/29/2007 1:36:24 PM
torii was getting up there in years...and the twins offered him a pretty fair deal...i think they offered him $15mil/year for 3 years or something like that...he's still a great defensive fielder though...not necessarily cause is the quickest or most limber fielder, but i almost see a gerald wallace type quality about him where he abuses his body to make plays...he was fun to watch...my question is does Vlad now bat DH or is it like a Youkilis/Ortiz thing where it varies based on their opponents
11/29/2007 1:47:30 PM
Well Matthews and Hunter are two of the ten best outfielders in the game, so Vlad and Garret Anderson will probably shift between the other outfield spot and DH, depending on who's healthier, since you know they're never 100% at the same time.
11/29/2007 1:52:13 PM
vlad probably spends less time as DH this year, he's younger and healthier than andersonguerrero has the biggest outfield arm i've ever seen and a matthews-hunter-guerrero outfield is probably the best in the majorsmike scioscia is borderline retarded but not even he would squander a chance at having those three in the outfield as much as possiblethat said, delmon young is a great pickup for the twinshe doesn't have the speed or the range of hunter but he does have a great arm -- and if he can turn his doubles into homeruns and learn to see the ball better at the plate, he'll easily surpass hunter's offensive output in a year or two
11/29/2007 2:32:56 PM
The 3-4-5-6 in their order of Mauer, Cuddyer, Mourneau and Young could be one of the best in league if Cuddyer rebounds from a down year and Young takes off
11/29/2007 2:38:54 PM
they said Delmon is the first rookie to hit 75 RBIs and get traded since Danny Tartabull from the Mariners to the Royalsmaybe the Angels will fuse Torii and Vlad into one player...I'm fairly sure if you gave Vlad Torii's defensive skills, or gave Torii Vlad's arm, he/they/it would be the best defensive outfielder in the MLB...its just a shame that that would be impossible to do

sounds like if he goes to the Yankees, Phil Hughes would be one of the pieces the Twins would get in return, and if he goes to Boston, the Twins would either get Elsbury or Jon Lester but not both or something like thatwe just need to get some value out of him...luckily even though we're losing a great player, we're losing a great player that had zero effect on ~125 games a season
12/3/2007 3:21:50 PM
^^ If the Mets change their minds on Reyes (which I hope they won't) they instantly become the favorites in any big trade for an ace...
12/3/2007 3:23:01 PM
yankees caved on adding hughes, but won't add kennedy or jobared sox added ellsbury, but won't add both ellsbury and lesteri don't see the deal happening unless one side gives in completely--trading reyes would be for a potential free agent pitcher, no matter the caliber, would be the worst GM decision of the past billion years[Edited on December 3, 2007 at 3:24 PM. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7525396This would set the dominos in motion. That would probably allow the Dodgers to go all in on Bedard since they won't have to keep their pieces for Cabrera. Then the A's would have some leverage with Blanton/Haren as they'd be the best left on the market... etc.[Edited on December 4, 2007 at 11:48 AM. Reason : x]

I wish the Indians would/could go after one of these big names. Miguel Cabrera at 3rd would be nice.oh well, at least we arent trading anyone away to the yanks or bosox

Skip Bayless gave NC some love on First and 10 today saying he didn't see how the Carolinas didn't have a baseball team and called it a hotbed for baseball. They were talking about the Marlins possible move and said Nashville or Charlotte or even Raleigh/Durham would be good choices.
12/5/2007 3:07:08 PM
i wish. that shit would be awesome and since i will be soon joining the work force, season tickets to a major league baseball team in the carolina's would be one of my first and top priority purchases.if there was only a way for my beloved oakland a's to switch to the east coast...Anyways, looks like the A's are going to wait until Santana goes somewhere before they start working deals with Haren. Personally, I wish there was a way for the A's to get some good young talent (Chris B. Young, Ryan Braun, Josh Hamilton, etc.) in return. I am hearing the A's are talking with the DBacks about 3 minor league prospects and not Chris Young or Conor Jackson. Typical Oakland shit...[Edited on December 5, 2007 at 4:02 PM. Reason : 1]

andruw to the dodgers, 2 years $36 million, nearly half of which is a signing bonusway too much money, but they did well to sign him to a short dealhe'll be hitting .220/.300/.350 and playing left field in two years
