predatory towing is NOT something I miss about Raleigh
10/8/2007 1:08:21 PM
Look HUR -- I'm sorry the cars got towed - I really am. But that doesn't chance the fact that they were parked on someone else's property and that gives them the right to have the cars removed.
10/8/2007 1:09:07 PM
Why would you leave your cars there, on someone else's private property? Regardless of the signs posted, common sense would dictate that if you leave your shit on someone else's property overnight, it's reasonable to expect it to be gone in the morning.Consider this a valuable lesson learned.
10/8/2007 1:09:19 PM
Sounds like you had alot of people at your house HUR !!!
10/8/2007 1:09:36 PM
Cue a page of losers posting about how stupid you are for having parties and how much cooler than you they are because they dont have parties. ]

The word you were looking for is cue.[Edited on October 8, 2007 at 1:18 PM. Reason : Or: "The losers will be queueing up to tell you how stupid you are..."]

But they didn't light it on fire. They towed it, which is the correct, lawful response to illegal parking.

lol there wasnt a sign! lol
10/8/2007 1:26:18 PM
It's safe to assume that it's not allowed. I mean, you wouldn't leave your car in the parking lot of a police station just because there are no "Parking for Customers Only" signs, would you?In any case, I'm sure they'll put up signs, and this will never happen again. Haha.
10/8/2007 1:30:20 PM
i think im going to go park in someone else's driveway tonight. as long as there isn't a sign, i should be fine.
10/8/2007 1:31:22 PM
there are laws that govern this type of towing.
10/8/2007 1:32:32 PM
10/8/2007 1:35:00 PM
nah, its cool. there's no sign!
10/8/2007 1:38:28 PM
your friends got towed because for the first week or so of classes this semester that lot was totally full of students riding the bus. i went to foodlion at like 9 in the morning one day and couldn't find a fucking spot because the lot was full. the sign specifically states wolfline riders, but it doesn't take a genius to realize that this applies to all non customers. you won't win this, nor should you. get over it and park on the out wall. and if you do fight this i can see foodlion turning the rule to absolutely no non-customer parking in the future
10/8/2007 1:39:11 PM
10/8/2007 1:40:20 PM
you should fight this until food lion says "screw it, wolfline riders can't park in our lot either"
10/8/2007 1:41:03 PM
Why don't you call them and try to deal with them like a normal person instead of an annoying whiner on TWW.Just make sure your voice doesn't crack, those cashiers are deadly man.
10/8/2007 1:46:41 PM
You should have watche dthe Simpsons last night,.
10/8/2007 1:47:16 PM
have you even talked with anyone at Food Lion to see if ACE was making up the part about the night manager calling them?
10/8/2007 1:47:39 PM
I mean it face it...you fucked up. Shoulda had your friends park on another street around you not in the food lion parking lot. Now your friends have to pay for it, get over it and move on, shit happens.

Wow, there sure are a lot of "morons" in this thread. It's almost like an entire "moron" consensus.I wish you luck and success in your quest to stick it to the man and rectify this horrific injustice.
10/8/2007 1:58:20 PM
just have them go into the store and buy something...they went to the grocery store, stopped into a friends house that was nearby since the store was closed, then returned to the store to make their purchase when it was open the next day. Then they are just delayed customers
10/8/2007 1:59:31 PM
I still love your "the world owes me everything" attitude.

heh HUR please update this thread with the status as the good fight continues - i'm sure you'll be victorious - clearly your friends were in the right i'd love to see what the argument will be that is used to try and fight this - try something like this

Dont know if this is any help....http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/115166/If they did not report the tows to police they are in violation, also if they charged over $100
10/8/2007 2:25:58 PM
10/8/2007 2:28:15 PM
I doubt you'll get them to volunteer a refund. They probably know the law and aren't too concerned about a $50 fine when they just took $100 from you. You may have had a different experience, but all the tow truck drivers that I've dealt with were total assholes.
10/8/2007 2:55:53 PM
I think HUR is justified in his complaint. Since the business was closed at the time, I think it's safe to assume that a parking complaint didn't come from the property owner. Thus, for this to be anything other they theft, there must be clearly labeled signs posted according to city ordinance. There where signs in this case, however, they only applied to wolfline riders and made no mention of parking for other purposes. Under the city's new towing laws, HUR's friends should be able to file a complaint, get their money back, and the towing company in question should be fined and/or investigated.

1) Call WRAL2)...3) profit
10/8/2007 3:07:46 PM
10/8/2007 3:31:33 PM
there is a sign, do you expect them to have 3432424243 signs for everything? Park in the outer, that is what the sign says....and it is STUPID to park in the inner after hours, just asking for it.....so, maybe they learned a valuable lesson they can use when they become adults.
10/8/2007 6:11:50 PM
10/8/2007 6:22:07 PM
you are a fool to park after hrs at a business, if I was the manager and saw cars parked in the inner I would of done the same thing(you obviously arent customers since they are closing). So, will your friends park in the inner or outer next time?
10/8/2007 6:27:08 PM
The next time i see someone park at my fraternity house who is not a member or a guest of one (happens frequently) I think I will throw a brick through their windshield. We have a "No Trespassing" sign posted so since they are on our property I can do what I want.
10/8/2007 6:31:11 PM
call ACE Towing
10/8/2007 6:32:50 PM
^^ god you're dumb. you'd be in the right to have them towed, but destruction of property =/= towing. I really hope you fight this and foodlion changes there policy to absolutely no non-customer parking. then when all the people start bitching about how they can't park at the foodlion anymore we can send them to your house[Edited on October 8, 2007 at 6:36 PM. Reason : .]
10/8/2007 6:36:41 PM
10/8/2007 6:48:10 PM
call the manager, suggest that......most people understand the sign that is posted....however, for some, it takes more....
10/8/2007 6:50:21 PM
God damn you're a fucking moron. Its food lion property, not public. Although it does not follow the same regulations as private property, its up to food lion administration whether they decide to tow you or not regardless of the signs. And for you to say that you wouldnt give a shit if they decided to make it that no one can park there makes you a huge fucking douche. Suck it, and stop acting like a little 8 year old bitch. And remember, their property, their stipulations. Fucking Ass
10/8/2007 6:52:56 PM
yes i guess i need more in big corporation fucking over the common person and tow trucks praying on college aged kids.
10/8/2007 6:53:49 PM
so, have any of the people that got towed one time been towed twice for the same thing? Did they learn where to park?so since when has the parking lot of a business not be considered their property???? So you are saying all Walmarts dont own their parking lots? lol[Edited on October 8, 2007 at 6:58 PM. Reason : w]
