Yes SIR

How far the Mets have fallen.. they've gone from Anna Benson's boobs flopping around as Santa's partner to having John Maine be Santa and Oliver Perez his elf during the Xmas party this year [Edited on December 7, 2007 at 2:58 PM. Reason : ^ is that for real? Sweet... I wonder if DWright is still on The Show.. it's a Mets monopoly on ps3]
12/7/2007 2:55:16 PM
Johan is going to be a Met and I'm not sure I like it. Martinez, Gomez, Humber, Mulvey AND Guerra is a heavy price and leaves the Mets with literally NO farm system... the only block on this is Omar is reluctant to include Martinez but you have to think F-Mart will eventually be a part of this deal to get it done..[Edited on January 10, 2008 at 11:26 AM. Someone god damn post in this thread. I know I have plenty of sacriders on here that could troll me at least...Anyway, Carlos Gomez was pulled from Winter League ball yesterday. It could mean nothing or it could mean a big trade is on the way. Buster Olney on ESPN reported this morning that the Twinkies could make a decision as early as today with the Mets and the Red Sox the two teams in the Santana sweepstakes. I would nut in my pants at work if we got Santana and kept Fernando Martinez...
1/29/2008 11:10:58 AM
i would post more regularly but its been an uneventful offseason to this point. Plus, i still have a bad taste in my mouth from last season that probably wont change unless we get santana
1/29/2008 12:43:11 PM
Santana is not going anywhere until the trading deadline. And if he becomes a free agent, he's going to the other side of new york.
1/29/2008 3:16:06 PM
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3220115^ Are you kidding me? Santana has made it clear he will invoke his no trade clause during the year. This is coming to a head and most likely today or tomorrow... Your boy Olney just posted this article.[Edited on January 29, 2008 at 3:20 PM. Reason : V 72 hr negotiating window for an extension, b... he isn't walking if they make the trade...]
1/29/2008 3:16:38 PM
He's not going anywhere. If I were a Mets fan, there's no way I'd sell the farm for a rental; that's a very Yankee thing to do.
1/29/2008 3:20:00 PM
keep dreaming. Not going to happen. They would rather have two draft picks than that crap the mets are offering.
1/29/2008 3:22:45 PM
This has to be worst-case scenario for Yankees fans, huh? The best player in the game has an outside shot at ending up with the Mets or the Red Sox. Is it too late to ramp up the payroll to $300 million?
1/29/2008 3:24:37 PM
^^ lol, you can't be serious. Fernando Martinez is one of the best prospects in all of baseball. Deolis Guerra is one of the best low minors pitching prospects in all of baseball. You think getting the 30th pick in the first round plus a sandwich pick next year is better than that? Come on... Actually even with F-Mart in there they have a competitive offer. Humber, Pelfrey, Guerra, Gomez and Martinez were all on BA Top 100 prospects list the last 2 years... and Mulvey might make it this year...^ The Yanks could have him right now. They just have to pick up the phone and say Hughes is on the table. They aren't going to do it and I don't blame them...[Edited on January 29, 2008 at 3:28 PM. Reason : x]
1/29/2008 3:27:14 PM
buster olney has never been wrong!
1/29/2008 3:28:47 PM
!!!!!! And we Keep Fernando Martinez!!http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/2008-01-29-twins-mets-santana_N.htm
1/29/2008 4:10:25 PM
Whoops, there goes the NL East title
1/29/2008 5:03:02 PM
One pitcher doesn't make a team. This is just gonna make it even sweeter when they choke again this year.
1/29/2008 5:12:47 PM
It doesn't guarantee anything but it certainly helps. I like the Braves and the Phillies rosters and they aren't going anywhere... but this deal makes the Mets the odds on favorites to win the NL without a doubt...Plus keeping your top prospect and Pelfrey is a HUGE bonus. This was a no-brainer from the Mets standpoint... Bill Smith in MIN is sure to come under some heat as to why he didn't take the Yankees offer when Hughes was on the table back in December...
1/29/2008 5:19:09 PM
fuck
1/29/2008 5:39:21 PM
So the deal is still contingent on an extension being worked out. There is hope. The only silver lining is that I'll get a chance to the guy in person. (Hopefully going 3, giving up 19 hits and 14 runs)
1/29/2008 5:43:57 PM
^^ I second that feeling. As much as I hate to admit it, gg to the Mets. They may be selling out the future for the present, but at least they are going all in to win the World Series this year. The Braves sold out the future for a less valuable player in Tex (even though Santana wasn't that great last year, he'll be dominate in the NL). The Braves chances in '08 just got a lot shittier. Here's hoping that some Mike Hampton type injury hits Santana. The Mets lose a lefty in Glavine and replace him with Santana. Fuck.[Edited on January 29, 2008 at 5:47 PM. Reason : fg]

How much is baseball king in New York City? Four days before a local team is in the Super Bowl the biggest story in all three major local papers (Post, Daily News and Newsday):
1/30/2008 11:09:14 AM
Got those grey Met pinstripes on. Good luck to your Mets, should be a pretty good NL East again..
1/30/2008 11:17:02 AM
I still can't get over this trade. I don't know much about the prospects, when when you have a chance to get Phil Hughes from the Yankees or Jon Lester from the RedSox I think you have to jump all over that. Kudos to the Mets for getting the Twins to bite on this. What a steal. Hate it that my Braves have to face that this season.
1/30/2008 2:34:38 PM
minaya ftw?!
1/30/2008 2:42:39 PM
I'd have loved to see the look on Ryan Howard and Chase Utley's faces when they found outand the Yankees offer of Hughes, Cabrera, Jeff Marquez and another minor leaguer was considered the best the Twins recieved...it was offered before Pettite said he would be back this year, and subsequently pulled after that
1/30/2008 2:44:42 PM
lol, my favorite part of this thread are the people saying he isn't going anywhere and the Mets have no chance literally a few minutes before the deal went down...^^^ Lester isn't very good... Hughes is but Lester is a 3 or 4...I'm still not sure why anyone had interest in Endy Chavez Melky Cabrera... he is a 4th OFer in the future...
1/30/2008 2:48:30 PM
the tigers hit him very well historically and we hope to see him in the WS
1/30/2008 2:51:43 PM

1/31/2008 10:26:36 AM
Still no deal?
1/31/2008 8:22:17 PM
braves fans can only hope it doesn't get done.. they have until 5 pm tomorrow... what happens if they don't reach an agreement? does he just go back to the Twins and they can try to take someone else up on a trade?
1/31/2008 8:32:28 PM
I'm sure they'll be an extension (of the deadline)
1/31/2008 8:33:27 PM

It can't not get doneOmar would be on Baseball Tonight with Steve Phillips
2/1/2008 1:32:11 PM
This trade or no the Braves had no chance of beating the Mets for this year's NL East.Ohh and another thing how about a damn salary cap so we can stop the Sox, Yanks, and Mets from simply buying their teams?
