10/26/2007 2:35:51 AM
I know the girl who was on the receiving end...Buffalo chick threw a beer and then a punch and her boyfriend didn't even go with her when she got carted away.

well put without getting unreasonable

^^ We need to put the myth of paid attendance and tickets distributed aside and start focusing on actual butts in seats. The only reason I say that is cause I watched the Florida-Carolina game last night and there were a ton of empty floorsides and the game's atmosphere was dead. 15000-16000 average attendance for the Panthers is irrelevant unless people actually fill them.By the way, here's a picture of my favorite inflated attendance. 400 when they announced 10,121.[Edited on November 1, 2007 at 9:57 PM. Reason : .]
11/1/2007 9:57:00 PM
You see the same problem at Joe Louis Arena, Madison Square Garden, and Air Canada Centre with tons of corporate seats that aren't filled. A sold out game last week in New York looked like the Greensboro Coliseum in the 1st period. Obviously no one is really quite as bad as Florida on a consistent basis, but the fact is, to the bottom line of the team, it's how many people bought tickets. If the season ticket holders don't want to show up, so be it. They'll be losing food revenue, but the season ticket holders probably aren't spending much money in-arena anyway. Not to mention Wednesday may have been the worst night in the NHL for attendance that I have seen since before the lockout. A mid week game on Halloween is just not going to do that well.
11/1/2007 10:08:30 PM
^ Well, as far as watching the NHL and it being an entertaining experience, the bottom line of the owners does not matter. So if the private media want to follow level of interest in a team, we need to follow actual butts in seats, and local TV ratings.
11/1/2007 10:12:17 PM
Nothing I was talking about really has much to do with entertainment value. Personally I don't really give a shit whether anyone goes to Panther games or not; just gives me more to make fun of them about. My beef with the article I posted was that he basically said Florida, Phoenix, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, Carolina, and Columbus are failing and will not be around much longer. I don't think this is true at all, and the only team that has big question marks in my mind is Atlanta.
11/1/2007 10:18:52 PM
I want the Florida Panthers to move to Charlotte for potential rivalry reasons. A Raleigh-Charlotte sports rivalry would be really cool.[Edited on November 1, 2007 at 11:33 PM. Reason : .]

Didn't miss a shift. Never question a hockey player's toughness. And two BRUTAL injuries in the Canucks game last night to Sami Salo (in the face) and Kevin Bieksa (achilles tendon). Apparently Bieksa is going to miss 6-8 weeks, but there was some early speculation that it could be career ending.
11/2/2007 11:18:49 PM
^ damn^^ and that won't happen.. even if it would be cool

I could care less that they beat the Flyers. It was like watching a cripple fight. Speaking of crippled, my Devils are looking like the Rags of yesteryear. At least the Canes are doing well.
11/6/2007 4:58:08 AM
You don't want to play too well against the Flyers unless you're looking to get killed by some no talent goon on their team.
11/6/2007 7:11:55 AM
every TV stat with some kind of streak that shows up always ends it right after its shownRangers/Islanders, longest shutout streak and like 150 minutes for Lundqvistends 2:30 later

wow VS reviews the 1st month of the season and the canes don't even get a mention (i think, i wasn't paying full attention, but i think i would have heard something if they said carolina or hurricanes)
11/6/2007 9:42:03 PM
They'll have plenty of chances to talk them up Monday when Carolina and Florida play on there.

11/7/2007 5:01:31 PM
No way in hell the Kings are going anywhere
11/7/2007 5:31:33 PM
^ I did not say the Kings were going anywhere. The Predators will move to Kansas City cause the prospective K.C. owner is friends with the owner of the Kings, and the Kings' owner wants his building in Kansas City to get rent money. So he will ensure all the other owners will back the move.
