^^ i was nothing, my mother tried VERY hard to make sure i didnt believe in any religion, especially catholicism. but i couldnt help it- sounds like bullshit to most people, but i always knew i needed to be a part of the church. this just happened to be the right time for it i guess
11/18/2007 7:51:02 PM
say, that reminds me, ask your brother sometime how he became a michigan fan
11/18/2007 7:52:36 PM
^ he's a fan of every fucking team. for no good reason. ive argued with him bout that nonsense (like being a rockies fan all of a sudden?) countless times. that boy has no loyalty to a team that lasts longer than a few years.
11/18/2007 7:54:32 PM
haha, we were picking on him last night hardcore about the same thinghe says he's a michigan fan because of a fishing trip lol
11/18/2007 7:55:34 PM
I am one of the Catholic raised peeps who kinda doesn't believe in the whole religion thing... but it is just easier to tell everyone you are still Catholic. My older bros marred in the girls church so I ever really knew what the rules were. But again, if you are limited on who you can marry... that is a retarded rule to abide by and you should quesion the people who believe in that rule.As far as us going atheist/agnostic: I think Catholics just tend to be more logical and realize how dumb organized religion is sooner than others
11/18/2007 7:55:38 PM

I should hope not, my last 2 gfs are catholic.
11/18/2007 8:58:58 PM
^^no, because he's not really a michigan fan. if it wouldve been the other way around he wouldve never let me forget that OSU lost

11/18/2007 10:53:55 PM
This whole religion thing is seriously fucking up my romantic prospects. No one wants to marry the atheist chick.
11/18/2007 11:36:04 PM
I'm catholic and I want to get married in a catholic church. But I don't believe in God. It's more of a social club thing.
11/18/2007 11:37:03 PM
Of course not. But still, my point stands!!!!!1
11/18/2007 11:37:39 PM
through the power of catholics i wont post for a while
11/18/2007 11:38:08 PM
I grew up catholicbut I can't blame that for my rabid atheism
11/18/2007 11:42:09 PM
^sure you can
11/19/2007 7:27:27 AM
11/19/2007 8:15:20 AM
what does it mean to have faith in the catholic church?
11/19/2007 8:16:07 AM
you can have faith in God and not have faith in any church, its a matter of believing in what the church teaches. ie: a baptist would not have faith or believe in the catholic church, but clearly believes in God.
11/19/2007 8:17:17 AM
so, if church doctrine involved something that you felt was questionable or were uncertain about, would you accept it anyway?
11/19/2007 8:20:29 AM
i was considering posting last night but i'm just curious the catholics view on oral sex is[Edited on November 19, 2007 at 8:24 AM. Reason : ie. do they view that as contraception]
11/19/2007 8:24:34 AM
it depends on the situation. ie: i am prochoice. the catholic church is very clearly against abortion, as am I, but i dont see how it is my place to tell other women what they can and cannot do. I have yet to find a doctrine of the church that i dont agree with on a spiritual level- though in a purely political or social context i may disagree with it.
11/19/2007 8:24:37 AM
^^ in general, i dunno. personally, i dont do it.
11/19/2007 8:25:14 AM
my moms "pope" name for me is "josh paul II"
11/19/2007 8:26:07 AM
haha my buddy jp has been called john paul III or pope III for years
11/19/2007 8:27:46 AM
i'm gonna call my catholic friend from back home on my way to class and tell him i'm going to church soon and see what he says[Edited on November 19, 2007 at 8:36 AM. Reason : class]
11/19/2007 8:36:06 AM
i went to a catholic school. The majority of people dont care but there are always some crazies. Most of these catholic school kids usually grow out of this and become dedicated people of the church, not insanely dedicated but when you have a family the "church" thing is always a good thing to do. Its a cycle. Otherwise there wouldnt be any members at all.and damn, I havent been to mass in over a year. Confession in over 2 years. [Edited on November 19, 2007 at 8:45 AM. Reason : ]
11/19/2007 8:44:26 AM
i was raised catholic and i didnt marry a catholic chick....but i dont practice anymore.
11/19/2007 8:45:43 AM
11/19/2007 8:55:06 AM
the only thing worse then people trying to get you to believe in their religion are the people who try to convince you that religion is a farse.
11/19/2007 8:57:40 AM
yeah, i'm sure you'd know all about Catholicism, you know, with you having all that recent first hand experience and all[Edited on November 19, 2007 at 8:59 AM. Reason : ^^]
11/19/2007 8:58:28 AM
^yeah, cause you can't have knowledge of something without first-hand experience with it you guys can get off your circle jerk nowI'm not trying to convince anyone of anything, I'm just speaking my mindso fuck offyou see where I said "I you ask me"?well no one fucking asked meI'm just saying what I feel likeIf I were trying to convince anyone of anything, do think I would be so preachy about it?gawd
11/19/2007 9:11:06 AM
Wasn't there already a religious discussion thread?I was raised Catholic, as are my children. I think that religion forms a good basis for moral beliefs. Yes, I know you can have good morals without being christian, or bad morals while being christian, but I think in general, the fundamental teachings of any religion help build on what I do as a parent at home. That said, the Catholic church isn't as bad as it used to be. They have realized they are losing members because of archaic laws. So yes, now you can marry someone of a different faith in a Catholic church and get away with it. They do expect you both to go to classes beforehand and generally want more money for letting this happen. And Catholics are okay with oral sex if it allows the man and woman to climax together.
