I am thinking that we score maybe two field goals and Matt Ryan makes our defense look like child hookers
9/4/2007 6:47:41 PM
if matt ryan shreds our D, then Brohm will probably embarrass us like we're a peewee football team.

How would you all rank the conferences? I think the SEC is clearly the top conference. I think the ACC could be one of the top conferences if there wasn't such abysmal QB play across the board the last few years. There are some exceptions obviously, i.e. Matt Ryan. Perhaps Beck, Taylor Bennett (GT), and Cullen Harper (CU) and others may change that in the next few years. The ACC had what 51 players drafted in the 2006 NFL Draft and the SEC was second with 37 iirc. There's definitely a lot of speed in the Southern states. Perhaps it's the diet, the weather, etc. The Pac 10 is also stepping it up some even without USC. They've got Cal and Oregon that are legitimate national powers, then there's UCLA, Arizona State, and Oregon State that are looking like they may step it up in the upcoming years. And never count out Washington either. Tyrone Willingham knows the Pac 10, having coached at Stanford prior to leaving for Notre Dame. The Big XII only has Texas and Oklahoma, with Nebraska back on the way up. I'm not saying that the play is bad in the Big XII, but TAMU have been pretty weak in recent years. Colorado has almost fallen off the map. Kansas State seems to be getting rejuvenated under Ron Prince and should have won that game against Auburn this past week. Texas Tech despite having a powerful offense are never contenders for the Big XII South. Oklahoma State despite proclaiming to have "the world's most powerful offense" got thumped by Georgia who only allowed them to score 14 points in their 35-14 win.The Big East has two national title contenders this year in Louisville and WVU, with Rutgers and USF being pretty tough too. But after those four the rest of the conference is absolutely terrible. WTF happened to Syracuse? Pitt, who lucked into the 2005 Fiesta Bowl, continues to underachieve greatly. UConn, while better than Duke, is still UConn. Cincinnati did okay last year, but Dantonio has left for "greener" pastures (I know terrible pun on MSU). They may be a pretty good conference this season, but I'm not sure if the conference will continue to do well or sink back to being the Big Least of years past. Now we come to the Big Ten. Having pulled for Michigan in everything (especially ice hockey) since I was a kid, I was at first disappointed in the App State loss, but was happy for App State. Later I was actually glad that App State won, b/c it exposed how weak the Big Ten is. Some have been talking about how the Big Ten has been weak the past couple of years, but it's fell on deaf ears for a long time. Case in point, Ohio State goes undefeated last year, but gets ran out of the stadium last year by Florida to the tune of 41-14. And Florida didn't exactly dominate all the time in their SEC wins. Auburn, LSU and others probably could have beat tOSU last year, perhaps less soundly though. tOSU's record against SEC teams is pretty bad by the way. Michigan loses one game all year, and gets destroyed by a 2 loss USC team. Purdue fans are screaming how good they are after an 8 win season, but they didn't have one win over a bowl team last season. They also got beat 24-7 by Maryland in the Champs Sports Bowl. Penn State who won the Big Ten in 2005 and went 10-1 barely squeaked by in three overtimes, in the Orange Bowl, to an 8-4 FSU team that despite winning the ACC was very mediocre. Wisconsin only lost to Michigan last year, but in their OOC schedule they played such powerhouses as Bowling Green (4-8 in 2006), Western Illinois (a D-IAA team), San Diego State (3-9), and Buffalo (2-10). They did beat Arkansas (10-4) 17-14 in the Capital One Bowl, which was a good win. Now I'm not saying that a team should go and schedule a bunch of powers in their OOC schedule, but you do need at least one good OOC team on the schedule. That may have kept them out of a BCS at-large bid.For this season I'd have to say:1. SEC2. Pac 103. Big East (they get the nod over the ACC and Big XII b/c they have two very legitimate national title contenders despite weaknesses in the rest of the conference)4. ACC (a lot of competitive teams, outstanding defenses (#1 Defense in the Nation: 2004 NC State, 2005 Virginia Tech, 2006 Virginia Tech; Miami, FSU, Clemson and Georgia Tech also have very notable defenses in recent years), and a lot of talent as seen by # of NFL picks the past few years, but offenses that don't match the defenses and no legitimate national title contenders)5. Big XII (could leap to as high as 2nd or 3rd if Texas and Oklahoma emerge as legitimate threats for the national title, and other teams such as TAMU, KSU, CU, Nebraska, etc. pick it up this year).6. Big Ten (I never thought I would ever have the Big Ten this low, but I'm gulping down the "Big Ten is weak" kool-aid; they have strong athletes, but just don't have the speed of a lot of conferences)One thing we did learn over the weekend is that Michigan is at least the second best team in Div. I-AA. Sorry for the length.

You know what all our QBs after Rivers have lacked? Laser eyes. If any of them had laser eyes we would be awesome. Think about it, Beck looks down field sees Dunlap double covered by a safety and cornerback. Beck throws the ball and while it's in the air he incinerates the safety with a laser blast from his eyes. Dunlap then only has man coverage to deal with. I think I've solved our QB problems. All we need to do is have Beck go to the Vet School and get his eyes replaced with some laser eyes. We'd be a sure Top 10 team.

how can I go about getting two tickets for this game?
9/5/2007 6:12:37 PM
if BC has as few fans as I hear, you should be able to get some for face value outside the stadium. then again. they will be going up against their former coach for the first time so it may be a sellout

Happy Gilmore, nice.A lot of students that don't have cable in their rooms watch the games in the dorm lounges that have the big screens. When I lived in the dorms, my RA organized a viewing party to watch the 2003 tOSU game. We watched it in the underground lounge in Lee Hall, even though we lived in Sullivan. We cooked up some food (which was free for all attending) and had a great time. Sucked TA's butt hit before crossing the goal line. [Edited on September 5, 2007 at 7:09 PM. Reason : ]

Ok well I told you guys I was glad BC got rid of uncle tom but i was a little disappointed that my school resorted to picking him up and now he's still pulling his same ole' tricks i hear. Thats that i guess and now we will see first hand an offensive genius at work. Or is he really? the guy ran a brett favre offense how hard could that be? or did he make favre good? now he along with the rest of the boston media says that matt ryan is proportionally much better than favre in the nfl and will be that type of guy on the next level. who cares if its ryan or jago doing it its great and we just put up all kinds of numbers on wakes immortal defense that was the best last year and returned everybody. I missed the wake game I was on vacation (how many girls dread going on a trip with their b/f because they'll miss football???) but 38 points on the acc champions is sure impressive?and there were like 3 "tribbles and picks" he's being compared to champ bailey by scouts maybe he'll be part of the pats crush some day. poor wake. i guess we know who the acc champions are now.to the point ryan is mad about last years game and he will be out to prove a point and solidify his heisman last year i promised you ncstate would keep it close and i was right but this time i'm sorry i can't say the same but I do hope they don't make ncstate look TOO bad.I will be there in secion A somewhere with my brothers but i may move to the superfan section with some old buddies. either way I can't wait to be part of the best college football atmosphere, tailgating and such for my first (but not last) time this season.disclaimer: i know i know bc could win the bcs championship and nobody in boston would notice since its typical with all the great teams in boston these days so don't yap about that when ncstate wins a hockey game its the biggest thing to ever happen to the south.i truly want my school to do well and have school pride but boston's where my home is and i'm not going to lame about weak ncstate football. basketball will be different this year and i will be there to support the team now that my long time boy and beer pong buddy farnold is running the show. with him out there the sky is the limit for our team.

The funny thing is, unless they win the ACC Championship, BC will still go to a crappy bowl because of their lousy fan following. Of course, the "BC rule" will keep them from dropping quite as far.
