Is it not possible to do as mentioned a bit above. Encrypt all files. Then to run them, decrypt -> exec the batch that is unearthed.

Im not tryign to protect the nations most important data here guys. im trying to keep otehr it people out of my shit, in 5 seconds or less. I asked if anyone knew of a tool to do X, a very simple thing, frankly if i got no response i was just going to say fuck it. THIS HAS ZERO impact on "REAL" security.Hell i could carry them around on a AES encrypted thumbdrive, in a locked breifcase handcuffed to my fucking leg, but that would get aroudn the point that I USE THESE THINGS TO MAKE MY LIFE EASIER.

don't you work for the government? I've gotta agree with a lot of people that this is fundamentally insecure and going to get more and more annoying the more machines you have to do this with. you need a directory system, AD or otherwise. if you really want to do this obscurely/quasi-securely, turn telnet on on all of the computers and execute everything on them remotely without putting a file on them.
8/30/2007 3:18:06 PM
You guys still are missing the point.Like people somehow don't use batch files in AD/domain controlled environments. please. This is neither a security risk, nor a terrible thing to ask. It's never being exposed to system users.

The point is that bat2exe isn't going to help you.End of story.

LOLYou won't have to deal with people like "me" if you didn't come to TWW asking people for help on how to do your job.

YOUR MISSING THE POINT FOLKSWE HAVE ADI COULD FUCK WITH THE PERMISSIOSN OF THE FILESTHEY COULD JUST TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THEMITS NOT REALLY IMPORANTLets say we have 2 groupsGroup Aand Group BLets say we have certain accounts to run services on a machineGroup A and Group B both have their own account to do thisLets say group A has account Agroup B has account BNow honestly if group be really wants to know service account A's password they can get itHell there are many reasons where they might need to know itbut frankly they dont have to know itthe same thign goes both waysIm not trying to protect againts domain escilation, im not worried about some fucker taking over the network, or all computers.Im not worrie dabout sombody with a sniffer on the network (the network guys are pretty quick on that).Im not worried about some 17 year old black hat. If you can even touch these machines youve aready compromised much more valuable things that what these passwords would let you do.Im just trying ot make sure that if Group B, really wants accoutn A password they either have to work a little for it, or come up with a half decent justifcation.Them konwing the password effects SHIT, because they are admins over the same machines, Hell group B people can add themselves into Group A if they want.these people are buisy, they wont sit there all dtryign different decompiling tools to really find out wahts in the amazin teslstar.exeim not calling the files. PASSWORDCHANGE.batI didtn ask people how to do my "job" I asked sombody if they knew of a tool to change a bat file to an exe file.Just like im not asking sombody how to do my job if i ask them if they have a preference of Wise or Installshields repackaging products.THIS ISNT FUCKING CRITICALNothing in the job description listed "KNOWS HOW TO CONVERT .BAT FILES TO EXE FILES"They did have something in there about fucking intelligence, and a fucking intelligent person wont spend fucking hours wasting on soemthign so simple, especially when they know a tool exists that sombody aready knows about.Inside our IT structure we have this thing called Information sharing, we do it because we all cant be masters of everything. While I might be very strong in blackberry support, somebody else might be a lotus notes expert. So they might "referr" me backberry questions, and i might ask them notes questions. Congrats...I assume you're going to accept it?Didn't know it was something you'd have to write .NET code for.lol

wow. i answer the OP in the first reply, and you guys drag it out to 2 pages? pathetic

Yeah blame me tooI just can't stand when someone comes up and talks like they're the ultimate authority on something...which is why I restrict myself to threads I am knowledgeable on.
8/30/2007 4:07:13 PM
i take third blame, i just cant stand when people take problems out of context
