It's not a fucking library, it's a MUSIC store. Best check yoself before you wreck yoself!

^x7 Note well: I changed that because somebody here tried to get me in trouble at work. BTW, I didn't get in trouble, so. . . .^x6 Despite what some here may think, I'm not trying to be a dick about this--but the guy behind the counter was. I just wanted to browse for a few things, which I did after he turned the music down. But I actually had to threaten to leave the store--and keep in mind that I asked him very nicely to turn the volume down just a little. And there in nothing wrong with old funk music or even the music that was playing at the time I was in the store. But I get the sense sometimes that employees at Schoolkids are playing certain music not because they like it, rather those employees are playing it because they want others to notice them playing it. And I happen to think there's a difference.

GODDAMN KIDS AND THEIR MUSIC IN MUSIC STORES
8/29/2007 2:36:51 PM
what the fuck is the problem with blasting music in a music store at GASP 11AMthat's almost fucking lunch timehis music might draw some kids in between classeswhat the fucking shit?do you live above the music store or something?
8/29/2007 2:38:01 PM
and so fucking what if they're playing trendy music that they don't ACTUALLY likeits a music store... its not like its a fucking music church
8/29/2007 2:39:25 PM
^^^^ Thank you.^ Then that's hipster bullshit, Snoot.BTW, some of you oh-so-smart people here haven't managed to figure out something important. There are only two options concerning your life: (1) You can die young, or (2) you can live on, which means you, too, will get older. (Gasp!) [Edited on August 29, 2007 at 2:47 PM. Reason : .]
8/29/2007 2:39:28 PM
you're expecting a salesperson to be 100% genuinegod damn you're naive
8/29/2007 2:46:36 PM
you never told me why 11 AM on a wednesday is an inappropriate time for loud musicalthough i once got in trouble for playing otis redding and solomon burke at noon on knc because it was "off-format"...nevermind the fact that i had a dozen people call in and compliment me on quality lunchtime listening
8/29/2007 2:48:41 PM
^^ Does Otis Redding need a snot-nosed kid to push his music, Snoot? And you're being stupid.^ I haven't answered because it's a ridiculous question. Why does one person like Lucky Charms and another Cap'n Crunch? Is either wrong? To each his or her own. [Edited on August 29, 2007 at 2:59 PM. Reason : .]
8/29/2007 2:49:00 PM
^ Need? No.But why wouldn't he play Otis Redding? I mean, who (besides you) actually gives a shit?[Edited on August 29, 2007 at 2:53 PM. Reason : the music in the store shouldn't have to depend on the likes of its employees, regardless]
8/29/2007 2:52:20 PM
^ JUMPIN' JESUS PALIMINO!!!1 I never, ever posted that I don't like Otis Redding, goddammit! I asked the little motherfucker to turn the music down "just a little," and he was a dick about it. What's so hard to understand?
8/29/2007 2:56:17 PM
it's not a ridiculous question...there are bad times for loud music. 4 AM in an apartment complex, for example. but why in god's name would 11 AM on a wednesday be any worse than 3 PM on a friday?
8/29/2007 2:59:08 PM
KNC sucks balls because they try to run a "format"the format is fucking college radio, assholescollege is an exciting place full of a multitude of varied perspectives and experiencesSURPRISE! this might include an eclectic mix of music

hello. this is thomas, the schoolkids guy that is the subject of this post. i am using rich's name to comment. all other comment's under this name are rich's. this thread has been pretty funny, but i'll clear a few things up.1. i am not a "snot nosed kid", i am 25 and the new manager of schoolkids in raleigh.2. i welcome anyone's musical preferences in my store. i know what i like and respect that you might like something else.3. otis redding is rad.4. would you walk in a restaurant, mall-store, bestbuy, etc., and ask them to turn music down? no. so don't think it's socially acceptable here, hooksaw.5. i'm just trying to have fun at work at play something i really like. after this incident, i will never turn down my music again. find another store to shop at. everyone else, come on in!

ROB You just drove a fucking customer away, Barry. I don't want you talking to our customers like that again. BARRY "Our customers?" You think that Mr. L.L. Bean out there is going to be a regular? ROB Barry, I'm fucking broke! I know we used to fuck with anyone who asked for anything we didn't like, but it's gotta stop. BARRY Bullshit. The guy was going to buy one record -- which we didn't even have -- and leave and never come back again anyway. Why not have a little fun? Big fucking deal.

8/29/2007 4:24:30 PM

if teh newspapers said so than it must be truegoodbye schoolkids, goodbye
8/29/2007 5:04:48 PM
^^^ haha what the fuck does that article have to do with anything? do you think that music stores are in decline because their employees play loud music?[Edited on August 29, 2007 at 5:05 PM. Reason : ]
8/29/2007 5:05:16 PM
might just be a trend in general
8/29/2007 5:07:16 PM
8/29/2007 5:13:24 PM
you could've definitely been like "hey this music sucks, put something else on"but going into a music store, i'd expect to hear music...regardless of the time of dayunless it was literally hurting your ears then i wouldn't really feel like i had a valid complaintkind of like going into a bar and complaining about people smoking...its kind of to be expected
8/29/2007 5:14:30 PM
Happy Birthday hooksaw
8/29/2007 5:20:05 PM
I was just at school kids and i must say i found the music quite relaxing. Now to see if the new Hopesfall album was an improvement over their last two meh albums.
8/29/2007 5:43:50 PM
aha indie music stores are declining because of cyber piracy, best buy and the internetnot hipster behavior
8/29/2007 5:47:37 PM
How in the fuckballs did I miss this thread? As if i needed a reason to hate hooksaw and love Schoolkids more.
9/1/2007 6:31:53 PM
So he still never answered why 11 am on a Wednesday is a bad time to be playing loud music. And when some user (vinyl?) kept on badgering him to answer, he said he wouldn't because it is a "ridiculous question".WTF???
9/1/2007 7:32:08 PM
Wowo...some people actually listen to music that isn't top 40...
9/1/2007 7:38:20 PM
9/1/2007 8:21:49 PM
11am is not early by most of the standards of civilized society. You're just a fucking slacker ass college kid who probably slept in past his English 230 class because you were up too late last night jacking it to exploitedteens.com.[Edited on September 1, 2007 at 8:28 PM. Reason : eng101]
9/1/2007 8:28:31 PM
^ spook says he's in his 40s.
9/1/2007 10:58:29 PM
to answer an earlier question, places like fye and suncoast are owned by the same people as best buy, they charge more specificly to drive you to best buy where they hope you will end up spending a boatload more on multiple items, plus the sales they do make are much higher profit margin so they can still handle doing less business and are often convieniently placedtake it from a former retail employee
9/1/2007 11:07:07 PM
^that's pretty fucking interesting, actuallythat will be busted out in conversation sometime
9/2/2007 1:17:40 AM
Me? I just leave the indie, emo, and other music snobs to their record stores. If it can't be downloaded or borrowed, I don't care.
