okay, here's what went down.

i went and bought a bottle of the aunt jemima syrup

moved the bookshelf in the syrup room to the center of the room, took one of the desk lamps out of my office, put it on the floor of the syrup room and pointed it towards the top of the bookcase so it illuminated the syrup

i put a post it note on the syrup that said "DO NOT MOVE" and shut the door

at lunch i brought up the syrup room in conversation with some of my friends from work

apparently i peaked their interest

by the end of the day i saw a shitload of people walk in and out of the syrup room (i can see it from my office if i leave the door open) including my manager. i even heard a dude talking to someone on a cellphone about it while walking down the hall.

back to my manager, he sends out an email every week or so that's like a newsletter

in the "Finance" section he included the following:

"Please note that a Syrup category has been added to PeopleSoft, please use this category when tracking your syrup-related expenses. Syrup may be stored in A201. Place on the syrup bookshelf."

no one has been able to figure out it was me yet, and i never plan on telling anyone.

all in all, this was fucking hilarious.
