Just my personal take.....I own a Wii, and although it finds use when i have people over all the time with like warioware, rayman, stuff like that....it otherwise sits around and collects dust.I liked zelda and RE4 port over to the controls (really works awesomely), there isnt shit out there. It really sucks, I was expecting all these original games, didnt care about graphics expressively, just fun unique IPs and stuff but it's been like drought city. Just minigame bullshit. So yeah, although I think I've paid 3/4 of its price off in group fun, it's still a very barren landscape out there for it. Mario Galaxy and MP3 are a damn nice start, but it needs more fuel consistently. Let's hope it gets it.

Don't worry Kainen, when Samurai Waggle Warrior 32X comes out , it's going to revolutionize gaming as we know it!!!!!
8/18/2007 10:24:52 AM
yeah i was kinda disappointed. i only own wii sports current, which i played a good amount but teetered off. i was hoping paper mario would fill a slot, but it didnt so my wii sits in the other room most of the time. i now use it just for party fun and 90% of my gamefly rentals are for the 360.that said, my other complaint is that my TV position makes it hard to play the wii in my living room. i have a 37" lcd mounted above my fireplace at a 15 degree angle. no matter how i position the sensor bar, it just doesnt register like you would hope it to, making games that require a lot of precision difficult. even warioware was difficult at times. kinda sux in a situation like that so it is in my other room on the 27" crt.

i'm really enjoying strikers charged, and there's actually a pretty long list of games comin out that i'm lookin forward to. whether they'll end up bein good or not remains to be seen, but i think the games that have been in production since the initial success are finally startin to make their way to the market. i think by this time next year, i'll have several games to choose from on a boring day instead of just strikers or wii sports.i too am not a fan of the mini games, and its too easy of an out for a lot of company's just to make a game to use the controls rather than make a game that implements the controls into a real story. i think a lot of companies did this off the bat just to capitalize and get somethin out there, but as time passes, they'll start to put together a full game.games i'm lookin forward to:metroid prime 3super smash brothers brawlmario galaxynba live 08battalion wars 2guitar hero 3wii fitness (jury's still out on this one, but it could be good. if nothing else, the balance pad opens itself up to some pretty cool possibilities. skateboarding or skiing games could be very cool)there's a few rpg's and on-rail shooter games comin out that i cant remember by name that sound promising as well.oh, and medal of honor: heroes 2.......i think thats the name of it. supposed to feature 32 player online matches, no friend codes required.[Edited on August 18, 2007 at 10:52 AM. Honestly, fuck HD for another couple years. Yes it looks damn pretty now, but until the majority of tv stations start showing stuff in HD then theres really no point. I don't like watching normal tv on hdtvs.

Shrike, you have Sony so far up your ass you are gagging. You got burned by esgargs. That deserves a big el oh el.You keep asking what Wii owners would have bought the Wii if it was $400. The real question is how many of us would have bought the XBox 360 if it was $250. Not I.And in terms of HDTV . . . Best Buy just took down all the non-HDTVs from their stock. In 2-5 years it will be standard. Until then, it is a limited market.[Edited on August 18, 2007 at 1:11 PM. Reason : ]
8/18/2007 1:05:58 PM
I think it's safe to say that the people who can afford consoles and games are the people who can afford HDTVs. So the point is moot.I'd even say that about 80-90% of 360 owners are also HDTV owners. The number is definitely higher for PS3 owners simply because you have to be a rich retard to buy a PS3.
8/18/2007 1:06:19 PM
^^That's funny, seeing as how I've mentioned Sony once in this entire thread. It's not my fault the #1 thing Wii onwers can say is "LOL, it's outselling the PS3!!!!". And how did I get burned by some moron who spent $800 on a party games?
8/18/2007 1:08:42 PM
Quinn's reason not to buy an hdtv percentage:turn on your set top boxCount the number of standard definition channelsCount the number of higher definition channelsApply this formula [(standard def)/(higher def + standard def) ] *100That is how much of what you pay for monthly, looks worse.[Edited on August 18, 2007 at 1:09 PM. 8/18/2007 1:09:06 PM
$800?Are you like hell bent on proving yourself to be a total retard? And, no...The PS3 sucks for more reasons than 10. The Wii's success has nothing to do with the PS3, although Sony did try to copy and got burned.

Blah blah blah, whatever dude. I'm not the one saying that Nintendo has somehow ushered in some massive revolution in game design that will cause game developers to focus on cheap gimmicks from here on in, and not back it up with anything. I've pointed out that every game thus far and upcoming from Wii, short of 1st party, are extremely weak and unimpressive. Again, not my opinion, but the opinion of the overwhelming majority of the gaming community.I've pointed out that nothing impressive have been shown from 3rd party developers thus far, and nothing has thus far even been announced. You counter with "But they said they are going too!!!!!". I could care less what they say. Show me screenshots, show me videos, show me gameplay demos, just like the vast number of extremely impressive showings for 360, PS3, and PC games coming in the next 2 years. Resident Evil 5 is still 2 years away, yet we have some very impressive video evidence of it's progress. All you've done so far is point to sales figures and think that means anything. You know, Pokemon and The Sims have been the best selling games for the past 5-10 years. I don't see developers abandoning all other forms of gaming to focus strictly on shit like that. Finally, you act like I somehow hate Nintendo. I LOVE Nintendo. Zelda is probably my favorite franchise of all time. I bought a Wii before any of the next gen consoles so I get could play Twilight Princess. Hell, I bought it twice, so I could play it on my Gamecube before I got my hands on a Wii. My only gripe is this insane line of thought that the Wii has somehow changed everything and game developers are going to completely focus all their efforts on creating games for a console with antiquated hardware, all the while, abandoning their hardcore base that has supported them for the past 20 years. I have seen nothing to that effect, and until I do, the Wii will be nothing more than a cheap fad.

I still don't think the Wii is affecting the sales of the 360/ps3 that much. Serious gamers who would buy a 360 or ps3 are going to buy one, they will not buy a wii to replace one of those systems if they want to play the best games.More people are going to buy The Sims than Fallout.More people will watch American Idol than Futurama.More people will listen to Nickelback than The StrokesAnd more people will buy the Wii than the 360.
8/18/2007 4:05:22 PM
wtf is a serious gamer?someone who just plays FPS all day and loves buying the same rehashes of Doom/Quake month after month?I am confused.

I didn't say any of those things suck, but they are more directed at casual fans, and will thus sell more.
8/18/2007 4:12:55 PM
I dunno about you, but there's nothing casual about Mario or Matroid.
8/18/2007 4:27:42 PM
Out of curiosity...how many people on here can afford to be "serious gamers" and sink more than an hour a day on video games? I like long in-depth games like Zelda, but often I'd rather just get in about 30 minutes on something casual like mario kart, strikers, etc
8/18/2007 4:29:34 PM
I often play Gears of War for 15 mins...does that make it a 'casual' game?
8/18/2007 4:30:25 PM
A casual game is something that girls like.normal girls, who suck at real games.
8/18/2007 4:32:31 PM
I'm serious, whats the difference between a casual game and a serious game
8/18/2007 4:34:28 PM
I think that summed it up pretty well. A casual game is a game that someone who usually wouldn't enjoy or be any good at games would enjoy. Pick a random girl and give her a choice between Gears of War or Mario Party 45, which is she going to choose? Not to say casual games suck, many are very good, or all hardcore games are good, but they are marketed to different people. You can't fault Sony or MS for targeting that market, because although they are smaller, they buy more games and are more dedicated.http://www.megagames.com/hardcoregamer.html
