8/9/2007 7:02:26 PM

8/10/2007 9:58:48 AM
If I had to rate the 2 albums in question, it'd be:Illmatic - 9Reasonable Doubt - 8Also, It Was Written - 8Since then, I haven't liked much by either of them.IMO, Nas by a margin.
8/10/2007 10:06:09 AM
It Was Written has some of the best rhymes ever put to paper as well - try I Gave You Power or Take It In Blood, for example. One of Jay-Z's first ever recorded verses was on a Big L/DITC track - Da Graveyard - and it's like the worst fucking verse on the song. Reasonable Doubt was a classic, but give me Showbiz, AG, Big L, Lord Finesse, any of those cats any day.

8/10/2007 9:49:50 PM
tree u called reasonable doubt a "solid album" when most consider it classic wtF?? i enjoy the blueprint more than reasonable doubt so i think that should be listed as a classic as well. even if you rate illmatic as better than those 2 combined nobody considers any of his other albums worth a damn let alone a classic. if you have any more questions please reference verse 3 of the take overI know you missin all the - FAAAAAAAME!But along with celebrity comes bout seventy shots to your brainNigga; you a - LAAAAAAAME!Youse the fag model for Karl Kani/Esco adsWent from, Nasty Nas to Esco's trashHad a spark when you started but now you're just garbageFell from top ten to not mentioned at allto your bodyguard's "Oochie Wally" verse better than yoursMatter fact you had the worst flow on the whole fuckin songbut I know - the sun don't shine, then son don't shineThat's why your - LAAAAAAAME! - career come to a endThere's only so long fake thugs can pretendNigga; you ain't live it you witnessed it from your folks padYou scribbled in your notepad and created your lifeI showed you your first tek on tour with Large Professor(Me, that's who!) Do I really want to jump in this argument...nah...
8/10/2007 11:07:41 PM
thank godlol j/k
8/10/2007 11:12:25 PM
8/11/2007 10:06:07 AM
and the black album had more than 2 good songs on it
8/11/2007 11:15:50 AM
there might have been a 3rd but its debateable....that cd made me hate jay z cause it was supposed to be his "last" album and it was such a let down
8/11/2007 5:42:01 PM
8/11/2007 6:34:00 PM
8/11/2007 6:35:15 PM
^^^you cannot say that the black album was a let down. So many good beats/lyrics on that shit. OK, so a few of the songs might seem a little too commercial, but damn the others are so solid.
8/12/2007 10:51:14 AM
oh no no no...i can DEFINITELY say it was a let downi know this cause i listened to it...and was let downput it this way...the only song i burnt to a cd was moment of clarity
8/12/2007 11:06:46 AM
put it this way, jay-z is garbage
8/12/2007 11:37:43 AM
he aint garbage but hes overrated like a mf
8/12/2007 12:11:22 PM
If I had to be total garbage or completely overrated at what I do but still be worth a few hundred million and fucking Beyonce... I think I'd take it.
8/12/2007 3:33:41 PM
hypnotized minds is your favorite record labelyour music opinion is mootbut i digress
8/12/2007 3:47:35 PM
no offense but the black album was such a big let downi was like wtf, you gonna end on this? prolly why he came back, cause he knew that album was such a let down
8/12/2007 4:29:22 PM
ahah why is it an offense, i didnt make it
8/12/2007 4:42:34 PM
lol cause your name is "j_hova"
8/12/2007 4:45:27 PM
i'm not knockin on the women he pulls or what he's worth or his good business sense...but with most of his albums he didnt even seem like he was trying
8/12/2007 6:27:43 PM
for the sake of arguing, define an album where the artist is tryingcause, as keeping on topic, Nas came off the same way after a whilei meanSHOORTTYYYY SAY WHATS YO PRICEgive me a break, thats bout worse than anything jay-z has done
8/12/2007 7:03:24 PM
dont want to sound too cliche, but jay seemed to put the large majority of his shit out as a product to make money off of...nas seemed to put a higher percentage of his shit out with heart and soul and effortand he's just a bette emcee]
8/12/2007 7:07:12 PM
well he is half man half amazing. what do you expect?
8/12/2007 7:08:48 PM
^^ hahah this argument has been done to death, you can't help but sound cliche'lets say we agree to thisNas is the better MC on some introspective, deep thought, smoke a blunt to type shitJay-Z is the better MC on getting clubs/parties rockin, a lil introspective/deep when he wants to be, and get drunk and holla at some skee-os tooplus jay-z is a BUSINESS, man, hahahthey were both at the top of their game at one point, but ask kids nowadays and lil wayne and jim jones blow em out the water, so any of this to those types of folk is all a moot pointone thing that killed me that i never expected you to say tree is that
8/12/2007 7:13:16 PM
8/12/2007 7:16:52 PM
jay did too in an interviewthought nas is a far better storyteller, he's far from wack as you call him out to beand why is it that other rappers say "best rapper alive since the best rapper retired" and shit like that, when they aren't saying "the best rapper alive since biggie and pac died" that isahah and if your story about your boy is true, then ya boy is a stan for tryna buck on a spilled glass of water. but lets keep this argument rooted in the realms of reality for the sake of those that didn't get their glass knocked over by jay-z[Edited on August 12, 2007 at 7:21 PM. Reason : .]
8/12/2007 7:19:46 PM
cause those rappers are trying to get down with jay and get paid...doesnt have anything to do with his rhyme skillsand i dont blame them for wanting money cause everybody does but theres a difference in skills and successand nah that shit with the water happened in like 98...and jay was rollin with a big crew...course if you think hes actually some kind of gangsta...........[Edited on August 12, 2007 at 7:23 PM. Reason : .]
8/12/2007 7:20:40 PM
now when you argue the difference between skills and success the points become skewed because you got kids like soulja boy and dj unk going off the charts, and ill be damned if you lump him in with that crowd
8/12/2007 7:22:54 PM
8/12/2007 7:24:59 PM
now you're just taking it and runnin with it, and I remember why I stay away from these threads, hahah[Edited on August 12, 2007 at 7:27 PM. Reason : .]
