I would've fallen out of bed if Hank would've said"It is a great accomplishment which required skill, longevity, determination and steroids."

My two cents... as read by David Glenn on 850 the Buzz yesterday ~4:00pm.Thanks David for the read... even though you were in the middle of discussing ACC football...
8/9/2007 8:50:45 AM
fuck the steroids era and all the cheaters in it.

^correct me if i'm wrong...aren't there 7 paragraphs and aren't the first 5 the disclaimer?not that it matters and it was obviously good enough to be read on the air...i just had trouble understanding what was the disclaimer and what was the topic...seemed the "its NOT about" were the disclaimer and the "it IS about" was the topic...but again, its not really important[Edited on August 9, 2007 at 12:45 PM. Everytime anyone says the record is tainted, you get the following responses:1) He never flunked a drug test!2) Bud Selig never did anything about it!3) Everyone was doing steroids!4) You just hate him because he's black!5) He was a great player BEFORE taking the roids!...hence the disclaimer. Simple fact - the homer run king took steroids. That's all you have to know to realize the record is tainted. When people get off topic, get back to the basics.
8/9/2007 12:51:26 PM
i agree with all of thatalso hopefully A-Rod and Pujols have long healthy careersbut seriously...the disclalimer was longer than the "point"]
8/9/2007 12:52:30 PM
its racist ncsuapex because mostly white people dont like him and want to throw steroids and *** in the conversation. Give the man credit.
8/9/2007 8:18:39 PM
i dont have statistics in hand, but i'd say the fanbase of baseball has a white majority, and thus people following the sport and realizing how tainted the record really is are mostly white. it would only make sense then to say its white people hatin on bonds, but it does not make sense to credit that to racism. in fact, its insulting to think someone cant have a moral-based opinion without being slandered.
8/9/2007 8:34:15 PM
^^how is saying he took steroids racist? mcgwire obv took them and i hate him just as much[Edited on August 9, 2007 at 8:35 PM. Reason : d]
8/9/2007 8:35:12 PM
the only reason Bonds takes more heat for roids than McGwire, etc is because:- he is still playing- he has the most homers in MLB history, and before he broke Hank's record he had more than McGwire, Sosa, etc- boo hoo lets feel sorry for the mutli millionaire asshole
8/9/2007 8:49:54 PM
8/9/2007 9:13:40 PM
^haha have they shown that episode recently? it was great how they made fun of all of the prevalent roiders like bonds, sosa, mcgwire...you'd think they'd show it again soon after barroid hit 756]
8/9/2007 9:52:34 PM
I don't know. I've had that in my gallery for some years now, but it still comes in handy.
8/9/2007 10:02:15 PM
thats a pretty awesome uniform though..."BONDS" on the jersey with a "B" on the hat
8/9/2007 10:03:52 PM
Bonds used steroids, oh no!If Bonds hit home runs off pitchers using steroids, does that make it a legit home run? Because lets face facts, the second that McGwire and Sosa started their home run chase everyone in the league probably started shooting up knowing that no one would say a word.
8/9/2007 10:15:41 PM
i guess the only way to know for sure is to go back in time and give Griffey roidsand no it doesnt make it a "legit homerun"...i see the point that you're making...its just not a very good one]
8/9/2007 10:18:20 PM
Griffey still would have broken himself. Steroids don't affect shitty luck.
8/9/2007 10:20:27 PM
8/9/2007 10:22:41 PM
^^no but they help you recover from injuries fasterit reasonable to think that not only would Griffey have more homeruns in his current number of games played, but he would probably have played more gamesstill though...i fully believe Clemens, Gagne, and other pitchers juiced...wtf does that matter to Hank Aaron? If steroids could make you throw a 110mph fastball kind of like how they can help a power hitter hit a 500 foot homerun you might be onto something]
8/9/2007 10:23:23 PM
8/9/2007 10:34:43 PM
he's still the spokesman by default because the majority of people relate steroids in baseball more with hitting long balls than pitching even though i think you'd have to be naive to NOT think lots of hitters and pitchers juiced...and he has the most long balls...i GUARANTEE you that if McGwire was the one who was going for 756 the same shit would happen...hell he might get it worse since Canseco was his teammate in Oaklandbut the reason I say steroids can't make you throw a 110mph fastball is the fastest pitches ever thrown to my knowledge arent more than 100,101,maybe 102the relative speed difference of 110 to 100 would be absurd and a ton of people would notice...they say you can tell a big difference in a 92mph fastball versus a 98mph fastball so i'm sure we'd have an idea if juicing gave pitchers the same tangible power advantage that it gives hittersplus pitchers still have a lot smaller target (the strike zone) than hitters (the entire outfield wall) so it certainly seems to me that hitters benefited a lot more than pitchers]
8/9/2007 10:46:02 PM
I realize why he's essentially been made the posterboy for it, I just think it's dumb.Even if steroids can't have you reaching 110, who knows how many 90 mph fastballs they turned into 100 mph fastballs. Like you said, it makes a big difference. I'm sure not all juicers were going in with intention of making it blatantly obvious they were on steroids and throwing 110 mph fastballs out of nowhere would do just that.Lets put it this way, if I were looking for steroid users, it's a lot more feasible (in my mind, at the very least) for Barry Bonds to hit 73 home runs in a season with steroids than it would be for Roger Clemens to start throwing 110 mph fastballs without them. Bonds was always an amazing hitter, so him hitting a groove one year isn't completely out of the question after watching McGwire and Sosa do it. If Clemens were to pick up 7 mph in an offseason, people would be real curious.
8/9/2007 11:05:17 PM
trueand in regards to pitchers juicing Gagne was an offspeed location pitcher when he came into the league and all of a sudden got big and started throwing in the mid to high 90s when before he was barely reaching 90...just seems like if a joel zumaya or randy johnson (and obviously he is as skinny as a beanpole) were juicing, their already 98-99mph fastballs would go way up...who knowsi just dont have any problem with bonds taking the blame more than any other player because no other player was threatening any coveted record like bonds was]

who gives a fuck... the steroids didnt give him that unnatural hand eye coordination, pitch selection, all around great batting instincts.
