8/1/2007 12:17:23 PM
i wanna see them pulled out... display how cool the hidden ramps are is what i mean you crippled fuck.
8/1/2007 1:27:57 PM
ah... i pulled them out at the dealership. not too crippled for that. they look just like any other angle iron trailers ramps, and hook onto the round bar on the back.
8/1/2007 1:51:18 PM
Demo derby hauler...with half the trips.
8/2/2007 12:32:17 AM
so weird to see a trailer without a single scratch. Nice purchase!
8/2/2007 9:52:26 AM
nice fuckin trailer
8/2/2007 10:15:23 AM
where the hell are you gonna park that thing? in the street like that?
8/2/2007 10:24:11 AM
I know your parents neigbours love all those vehicles there don't they
8/2/2007 10:51:05 AM
^^i've got a big back yard at my house, ~0.75 of an acre. that's one of the main reasons i bought it, for the big fenced in yard and detached garage.^eh, they're used to it by now between my dad, my brother, and me over the years. the trailer isn't staying there anyway, i just made a stop to get my camera.
8/2/2007 12:31:35 PM
freakin sweet trailer.... it sucks having to pay to put weight on shit these days... i got 9000 on mine... price goes up a good bit for anything over that... it's already 90 bucks a year for mine and the "specialty" tags... but it beats the large fine if you go over. I have found that calling ahead and scheduling an appointment for the different licenses works better. The old license agency over off blue ridge used to do class a and class b cdl and non-cdl's like nobody's business. I think there's only certain license places that will even do a class b or class a test these days.
8/2/2007 2:51:22 PM
ordered up some straps:and a tekonsha prodigy v2.6 electric brake controller:next up is a winch and some sort of box to mount/store everything.
8/6/2007 3:44:01 AM
i need two trucks hauled
8/6/2007 8:22:39 AM
gimme a holla when that controller gets in, and i'll come supervise Jeepman putting it on
8/6/2007 9:20:03 AM
The Prodigy is supposed to be the Mac Daddy of brake controllers...I couldn't afford one, so I bought a Hopkins Impulse for about 85 dolla. I don't know how it works because the fucking trailer I was hauling had brakes so out of adjustment, it was like not having brakes at all.Going back down Beech Mtn with that 18' tandem axle trailer and Matt's Jeep on it, with no trailer brakes and front pads on the truck that were damn near shot...well, let's just say it's a miracle I didn't fill my shorts.
8/6/2007 9:44:18 AM
cool trailer
8/6/2007 9:58:07 AM
nice trailer but if its gonna be for auctioning id invest in a wench
8/6/2007 11:16:33 AM
^^^scored the controller for $61 off ebay. supposedly the p3 software is a bit nicer than v2.6, but only noticeable if you spend LOTS of time behind the wheel towing heavy loads. i can't see paying the extra dollaz for one.yeah, knowing the owner of that trailer ya'll used it doesn't surprise me a bit.i'm going to see about scoring another harness so i don't have to buy a whole other controller for my f350. just swap the box between the bus/truck as needed. on a side note, the factory controllers in newer fords work pretty nice (what i used to pick it up). slight hesitation on initial input, but otherwise smooth once you get the gain dialed in.^a wench huh? wtf would i do with one of those? scream at her to pull harder? stay out of my thread retard. i already said it's getting a winch, more than once. even what brand.
8/6/2007 12:24:43 PM
^ i can obtain whatever kind of quick connects you need to make it swappable i'm assuming its a standard 4 wire, should be easy to find some heavy duty duestch plugs for that
8/6/2007 12:29:18 PM
I've never seen people so excited about a trailer.
8/6/2007 12:31:25 PM
8/6/2007 12:45:10 PM
that trailer is fucking money
8/6/2007 12:45:14 PM
but it doesn't have a damn wench yet
8/6/2007 12:46:58 PM
^^^^^cool. yeah, it's some sort of flat 4 wire plug. it comes with a plug and play harness for late model gm trucks, you can have that if you want it.^^^^didn't you ever haul stuff in your tonka toys, tie a wagon onto your bike, etc. when you were little? this is like the real life grown up version of that.^gg
8/6/2007 12:55:21 PM
^ mine doesn't have the factory tow harness, i have to run wires all the way back looks like they would just put it in there anyway instead of having two completely different chassis harnesses for the same damn truck without the "towing package", it's just so they can charge an extra $370 for 4 wires and a hitch
8/6/2007 12:58:53 PM
8/6/2007 3:26:16 PM
aha, i didn't even notice that.
8/6/2007 3:31:10 PM
^^
8/6/2007 3:47:25 PM
8/6/2007 3:54:28 PM
I like the prodigy, I've had one for a couple years now. The boost feature is nice for that initial stab of the brakes when needed. Very smooth and easy to dial in. I've got mine set where its B1 for empty trailer, B2 for hauling a car, and and B3 for hauling skid steers / tractors. I usually don't have to adjust it very much after that.
8/6/2007 6:21:29 PM
yeah, being able to preset settings was a big attraction for me since this will see a lot of varying loads. empty, one car, two cars, heavy trucks, etc.
8/6/2007 6:25:26 PM
seriously i have at least one truck i might need hauled by the end of the week, maybe two...
8/6/2007 7:14:34 PM
hey man congrats on the new trailer, I own two kraftsman trailers and structurally they're great, paint and wiring decent, but I've yet to own a trailer w/ decent wiring, the one above I order w/o lights and did an led kit myself instead of the factory stuff. But i just wanted to suggest that instead of the tape strips for grip try what I do on the above tilt trailer (came like this from the factory for grip) put down some paint and before it dries throw some sand down. Works like a champ. I haul several rubber track machines and they really need the grip w/ wet or icy and the sand in the paint works great, though it'll wear off.
8/6/2007 8:03:21 PM
^yeah, i've already accepted that wiring will probably be an issue at some point. i heard of no manufacturer that does what i would consider a good job. supposedly kraftsman's is decent, it's just their grounds that require work eventually.
8/6/2007 8:09:16 PM
damn, nice truck...
8/6/2007 8:11:08 PM
And I was just wondering how I was going to get a Piper Cub to and from the paint shop?
8/6/2007 8:14:13 PM
^^yeah it is. thread on it here: ?topic=366369^i'll be coming to get a trooper with it sometime also.
8/6/2007 8:24:33 PM
The sooner the better.
8/6/2007 8:47:39 PM
my old straps are out back in the shop. Far right, in a box towards the back. The crappy ones cut through, but the heavier ones are still in good shape.Did somebody say Trooper? I need one. [Edited on August 6, 2007 at 9:02 PM. Reason : trooper][Edited on August 6, 2007 at 9:03 PM. Reason : .\]
8/6/2007 9:01:19 PM
yeah, only one of those is any good. the other one snapped on the way to charlotte from uwharrie back in may.[Edited on August 6, 2007 at 9:57 PM. Reason : .]
8/6/2007 9:57:19 PM
agri supply ftw
8/6/2007 9:58:34 PM
Ahhh, ten dash four. I guess strapping across ragged-assed bare metal on piece of shit cars takes it's toll.Should be 2 axle straps back there as well. Not sure if you've found them yet. [Edited on August 6, 2007 at 10:01 PM. Reason : .]
8/6/2007 9:59:26 PM
shieeet how much are straps? i mean we will go to northern or afrosupply and ill buy you some straps instead of paying a towing company
8/6/2007 10:21:32 PM
about $35-40 for a 30' 3" wide 7k# ratchet strap, anything smaller is crap
8/6/2007 10:26:25 PM
8/6/2007 10:28:56 PM
^ who is that nig passed out in the back on top of the futon mattress?
8/6/2007 10:30:57 PM
I used to be a strap man, but now I'm a chain man. Not because of safety necessarily, but I destroyed 5 agri supply straps over the last 18 months. I was even careful, I carried some cardboard strips to put on edges and stuff. If what you're hauling is something you haul often and you have good strap points (especially w/ those locking metal hook deals you picked up), thats one thing. But when I haul all kinds of random crap from ag equiptment to junk vehicles, I don't have that luxury. When i had the 4runner (big, tall, and flexy), I'd chain the front, back, and use a strap through the cab to cinch the suspension down to control roll. The screw type binders are great.
8/7/2007 12:29:47 AM
^ i damn near broke my arm with a lever lock binder before when it snapped back open on me
