calvin and hobbes is definitely the best comic of all time, for a very good reason. As a kid, i grew up reading both C&H and Garfield. Both were entertaining, but I never really understood a lot of the big ideas of C&H until I grew up. Going back and re-reading them, the comics are on a whole new level. The ideas that are now clearly conveyed along with the humor make it much better now than it was when I was younger, which is really awesome, considering how a lot of things talked about in the comics are still prevalent to this day. Garfield has never really grown like that. It is just mere "entertainment", and not something you can really look deeper into.

The snowmen, along with the other snow sculptures, and the alter egos are some of the best parts of C&H. One thing I really like about Watterson is how he never allowed his creation to be commercialized. Calvin and Hobbes is strictly a comic, and always will be a comic, no matter what. He never allowed any TV shows, movies, dolls, or any other merchandise to be made, which makes the character that much better.

Just ordered the Complete Calvin and Hobbes for my boyfriend for Christmas!!It's listed as $94.50 on their website, and I had a 25% off coupon. So it's to the door $78. I went in to their store to get the deal and try and save some time, and they wouldn't even honor their own online price. Oh well, it's free shipping online anyways.
