O ya i forgot, midtown is like the biggest tourist attraction in the world so it sucks. Its just full of trailer trash. My bad.

^Just because the most people go there doesn't mean it's the best. People who aren't familier with NYC tell you to go to Timesquare. It is the most visited location in the world, and it's funny the only non-american place on Forbes list is London's Trafalgar Square. I had no idea 4 out of the top 5 most visited places in the world were in America. Midtown is alright if you wanna see a bunch of tourists, but after a while, most travelers "grow out" of that phase, and find better places to visit. Plus you already used the argument "it's the most popular so it's the best!" in regard to Myrtle Beach. Think of another argument why Midtown is the best. I try to avoid it when going to NYC. Theres no need to think of another argument because its just common knowledge. Everybody else already knows midtown is the best.you've got more stuff to do. tourists aside you've got the garden, broadway, radio city, all the shows, but midtown is more than just the major tourist attractions you've still got cultured neighborhoods like little brazil and korea then chelsea to switch things up.

Actually,I didn't go to any of those places this time. You just have a serious complex with anything that seems to be popular. I know all the best neighborhoods aren't in midtown but in general overall it is by far the best as opposed to downtown, uptown or some other section or borough. Its not even close. I've been all around all of nyc except most of the bronx. How the fuck do you think places become the most popular in the world anyhow? And for the record the statue of liberty is not located or viewable in midtown. What part do you think is better and why?

Funny how the same people backing downtown are the same people in the other thread saying banking makes charlotte better than raleigh. Whats so fun about a financial district? Wheres the personality in banking? Arts, shows and entertainment is where the personality is.
7/25/2007 3:07:36 PM
have people really spent such minimal time in charlotte that they just say "blah blah banking blah blah"? fuck banking...its good for the economy but bankers are often douchebags..if you associate a whole city with that well I guess NYC is cool...for stock traders! if you're not a douchebag wallstreeter NYC sucks! ^btw...what "personality" does Myrtle Beach have? It's the personality of a fat northern redneck]

^Umm not really. If you look into the history of broadway, history of museums, and history of any type of art you'll find it strongly subsidized by banks and various sponsers. For example the highschool i went to in Charlotte got 30,000-40,000$ a year for musicals from the Bank of America. This allowed us to put on musicals uptown at the Blumenthal performing arts center. No other magnet highschool in the state has that type of oppurtunity. Oh and those "rich people" you speak of who care about art, like art collectors and show sponsers are usually stock brokers or bankers. All the money has to come from somewhere, and it usually doesn't come from ticket sales.[Edited on July 25, 2007 at 9:09 PM. Reason : .]

Ive been thinking about Midtown and I guess you could say everything between 14th and 59th is midtown but thats too silly. So I think Poetrickster is just bein a dumb bitch.but honestly pretty much everything above 14th street is worthless

^All we're saying is that the majority of people we know (besides you) don't really enjoy or have any desire to visit most of midtown. You're the minority in regard to traveling i guess. In regard to NYC and Myrtle beach. The posts on tww have proved that. You can't argue with a general consensus.

McDonald's is the best restaurant in the world...most sales, makes the most money, most customers... due to the "general consensus of the logical world" McDonald's has the best food in the world, isn't that right Poetrickster...man I've eaten at a McDonald's in Myrtle Beach...best experience in my life

I hope you guys are just trolling out of desperation from losing the thread and aren't seriously this dense. I've drilled this before. You can't compare something thats popular because of its low price to midtown manhattan which is popular and also happens to be one of the most expensive places anywhere. 2000 dollars per square foot in times square is like a big mac costing 150 dollars and still being the #1 sandwich. Theres nothing cheap about midtown.

As soon as it becomes cheaper than all alternative destinations[Edited on July 26, 2007 at 12:53 PM. Reason : its not teh #1 in the world but its #1 in the area and one of the best in hte us for sure]
7/26/2007 12:52:46 PM
so only when myrtle beach is cheaper than ALL OTHER BEACHES will you admit that its not the best in the region/country? wtf kind of sense does that make? i'll tell you what kind of sense it makes...none

Alright Poetrickster i'm going to be stuck up with you in regard to traveling. I've been to my fair share of places in the world and almost every major city in the United States, but growing up I had those crazy friends and adult friends who pretty much went everywhere there was to go in the world. I wasn't even close to them in regard to a world traveler and i've been to quite a few places. I'm talking like friends who have houses/condos in over 10 countries and who travel weekly for international buisiness. I met these people during fundraisers/sponsered art events/gallery openings etc, and i'm only 21. I know i'm being stuck up here, but if you asked any of those people what thier favorite places to go in the world were, Myrtle Beach would obviously not be on the list, and Midtown would be a overnight stop visiting relatives on the way to Tokyo. If you want to argue expensive, Myrtle beach is horribly cheap. These people would laugh at you if you said Myrtle Beach was expensive. There's hundreds of other beaches in the World and plenty in the US which cost 10-20 fold more than Myrtle Beach. I'm talking 10-20 grand a night to stay in these places. So don't talk expensive, because Myrtle Beach is dirt cheap compared to the really nice places on Earth. If you really wanna be a traveler, of course you don't have to be rich, and there's plenty of places in the world you can go that are free, and will put Myrtle Beach or Midtown to shame. I'm defin in the "Middle class" designation in terms of family income, but i find plenty of great places to travel. Not a single point you've ever brought up makes ANY sense in regard to a smart, intellectual traveler. You're falling into the same catagory that most americans fall into. You get suckered into popular tourist destinations that are well advertised and have tons of people. Well, you need to learn that these are BY FAR not the best places to go, and usually the less people there, the better the place is. Remember, the best places on earth are usually closely guarded secrets which you'll only find in those travel guides, and word of mouth. Again sorry for being stuck up in regard to giving you a little perspective. You're welcome to criticize my openness all you'd like, but the fact remains, the more you travel, the less you enjoy places like Myrtle Beach or Midtown, NYC.[Edited on July 26, 2007 at 1:12 PM. ALTERNATIVESplease readobviously myrtle is not an alternative to somewhere you would hop on a plane to go to. Alternatives are beaches in sc, nc, va, md, deleware, nj, etc. Myrtle is on the high end of that list and stil the most visited dispite the fact that it is not convient to the major cities like ocean city, and atlantic city. It is actually the most isolated from the group people that are choosing from these beaches yet it is still BY FAR #1. Theres no other explanation other than it being #1.And i don't want to here you talk about your filthy rich buddies that pay for insane services because at the hotels in midtown you really don't get jack shit and you still pay more than you would in most hotels.

The reason why people who live in new york hate to go to midtown is because of all the tourists.whats not to understand about that?shit I dont like even going to manhattan because of all the tourists on busses.the reason why people live there is because its where the majority of office buildings outside of the Financial District are. It just so happens that Time Square, which used to be filled with XXX movie theaters and hookers, is now a giant mall filled with chain stores. No fuckin wonder everyone who visits wants to go there. Tons of people go to ground zero as well, does that make it the best place in new york? Hell no, you normally go once and thats it. Manhattan in general is just retarded expensive so pulling out sq foot numbers is absurd. Fuckin 400 sf studios rent on average around 1,900 a month. so in closing, people with maps from asia go to midtown. When you live in new york you end up going when your gf drags you to H&M.....
