7/15/2007 5:52:49 PM
I saw all three seasons of AD at Target for 20$ a piece now. A fantastic investment.
7/15/2007 6:24:50 PM
i think I saw in the best buy ad this morning that they are 15 this week.
7/15/2007 6:42:13 PM
shows like this are better because they were cancelledit's just like Nirvana or Sublimeif they weren't forced to stop then their stuff wouldn't be trapped in a bubble and praised the way it is
7/15/2007 10:46:37 PM
i disagree on one part and agree on the other. if youre trying to say people liked them/idolized them mainly because they were cut short then no i disagree. i for one think that both of those bands would have just gotten better.its hard to say with TV shows. but while AD was on it was still one of the best tv shows i have ever seen, and all that before it was apparent it wasnt going to be around long, ie that didnt play a factor.

maybe I should have used Guns N Roses in the analogy

I only saw a few of the episodes when they came on, but it wasn't until I saw 3 or 4 episodes back to back that I really got into it. I think that had a lot to do with the lack of an interested audience. The running gags are what makes it and if you don't get them it's a lot less funny.
7/16/2007 12:25:38 AM
just added season 1 to my netflix queue, hopefully i won't regret

Isn't it in the pilot?
7/16/2007 10:59:24 PM
It's definitely in the pilot, but that's not the only one.The song is "Gonna Get Together" by Leroy.
7/16/2007 11:32:29 PM
Although I will agree the third season is probably the weakest, partially I would blame it on them trying to cram so much in. And in S3's defense it does contain my personal favorite single episode: Mr. F. It's a great ep solely for the payoff at the end with Tobias as a "Mole" in tiny town. Also it has the funniest four characters at their best: GOB, Buster, Tobias, and George Michael.
7/17/2007 1:01:38 PM
yea i mean part of it i think had to do with having to FORCE the show to sort of end. its like tolkien having his whole idea for the hobbit and LOTR trilogy and then telling him after the hobbit he has to wrap the rest of the story up in one book the size of the fellowship. i forget tho how the timeline went down as far as writing the shows and knowing they were going off the air, so i could be wrong. still a funny season

I rewatched all 3 seasons in the past month and I was struck with how recent they were. Or…. how they dealt with subjects that in my own mind were very recent, while it feels like the show was on the air before those events. That is - it feels strange that the entire series aired while we've been at war with Iraq, and so much of the series had things that were happening in the US or Iraq in the past couple years. For example, it doesn't seem like that long ago when we pulled Saddam Hussein out of the foxhole in Iraq. But they made several references to it in "Good Grief", which aired in December 2004, when they pulled George Sr. out of the foxhole, then Michael did the examination on him. That episode aired a full year after they did the same to Saddam. Then in my mind, Katrina didn't happen too long ago (almost 2 years now), but GOB's black puppet Franklin wore a "George Bush does not care about black puppets" t-shirt in episodes in early 2006. It feels like it was much longer ago than early 2006 that those episodes aired.[Edited on July 17, 2007 at 2:54 PM. Reason : .]

so possibility that with the huge following and dvd sales...bring series back?they always seem to cancel the good ones anyway for some reason
7/17/2007 4:13:23 PM
^ Absolutely not. It's way too expensive. The whole reason they didn't go to Showtime is because they would've had to either cut out the location shoots or trim the cast.
7/17/2007 4:24:39 PM
eh, i dont think the family guy effect is gonna happen with this show, unfortunately everybody else kinda just moved on anyways and getting other roles
7/17/2007 4:25:13 PM
7/17/2007 5:28:00 PM
I'm a fan of GOB's magic showsthe music makes it

Things may be different now, but its worth a shot. Makes me wish I didnt have the series already.
