What? Polymers don't usually have estrogens of any sort embedded in them, nor are they likely to be broken down into parts even close to resembling estrogens. So please, back this up for me.

bisphenol A, a know estrogen/toxicant, is a compound that exists in plastic.

"bisphenol A was shelved... until polymer chemists discovered that it could be polymerized to form polycarbonate plastic. Unfortunately, the ester bond that links BPA monomers to one another to form a polymer is not stable and hence the polymer decays with time, releasing BPA into materials with which it comes into contact, for example food or water."

there was a group of scientist who stumbled upon this fact when doing estrogen research and learning that their closely guarded control samples were testing postive for estrogen compounds. They threw everything out and started again, thinking it was contamination. After months of checking and double checking they traced it to the bottles (plastic) they were using. They started researching plastics in general and found that they could detect estrogens.

Here's the problem. She posted that it was in things like soda containers, which are generally made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET, #1 plastic), NOT polycarbonate. Polycarbonate plastics are the kinds of plastics used to make Nalgene bottles.
