I think Liverpool wanted to make a statement this transfer period to show that it's commitment to winning is still firmly in place as far as the financial aspect goesResigning Gerrard, Carra, and Reina were necessary stepsand now the signing of the two Hungarian kids, Torres, et al is the club showing that it doesn't want to remain stagnant, 21 points behind ManU at the end of next year
7/5/2007 2:59:14 PM
^ yeah and they need to continue that committment by getting a winger
7/5/2007 3:29:51 PM
yeah, zenden and pennant are serviceable, but not top flight by any stretch

1. Nobody ever suspected Veron was going to be a flop until he fell flat on his face. Tevez has proven himself in the EPL by single-handedly saving West Ham from relegation.2. Tevez playing in Carrick's place? .....what? Do you even understand how the game works?3. I would hate to see Smudge go, but I think at some point he may. Honest truth is he's a fringe player at ManU, but he's really not any higher up the ladder if he goes somewhere else. Unfortunately the only way he'll see that is if he does end up somewhere else and is still riding the bench.4. Liverpool overpaid for Torres. 15 goals a season in La Liga? He's hit a plateau. They would've been better off getting a younger player from the Eredivisie like KJH, Alfonso Alves, or Jefferson Farfan.5. Bolo Zenden is OLD.

This morning Liverpool signed Ukrainian striker Andriy Voronin, formerly of Leverkusen
7/6/2007 7:39:27 AM
^ I believe they signed him to replace John Arne Riise.
7/6/2007 8:14:04 AM
wow, that was some sneak shitlooks like Tevez will be playing at Old Trafford from now on, once they wrap this whole Joorbachian (sp?) third party bullshit upI had a feeling he would go for United, too, after the way he sought out Rooney after the final game of the season and they looked like they were getting chummy. Hopefully this will keep Gaby H. around.[Edited on July 7, 2007 at 8:50 AM. Reason : Argie invasion!]
7/7/2007 8:47:37 AM
I wouldn't have a problem losing smudge if he was part of a package for Owen
7/7/2007 9:32:32 AM
Liverpool announces they will play in an airport in a couple of years:what a horrible design for a stadium... inside looks okay with the steep endzone, but damnAll the bigger pics here: http://forum.football365.com/index.php?t=msg&th=373875
7/25/2007 8:37:21 AM
i like it - i mean, you're not ever going to build another stadium like Anfield in 2008-->The steep Kop on the end will certainly be a sight to behold, and is going to produce a mind-numbing wall of noise
7/25/2007 9:45:20 AM
i think this got lost in that waste of a beckham threadanyhow, brilliant performance by van der sar in the community shield
8/6/2007 7:49:56 PM
he was dialed in big timenow i can't wait for the season to start
8/6/2007 8:08:10 PM
Smith to Newcastle, big mistake. If he thinks he's going to get any PT sitting behind Owen, Martins, Luque, Ameobi, and Viduka.Even if they plug him into the midfield he'll sit behind Emre, Barton, and Dyer.

Arsenal's comeback win over Fulham this morning was sicktwo goals in the last 7 minutesbest game I've seen in a while (well the last 10-15 minutes of the game at least)p.s. here's the free kick http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_KQlJuNQ30[Edited on August 12, 2007 at 9:41 AM. Reason : asdf]

^of course bocanegra had to be the one to concede the penalty for fulham so arsenal could tie it upand way to go mr gerrard, that's why you are the man, gg Liverpool a few narrow escapes on weekend 1 hereand united had better win this match by at least 2-0 the way they've dominated (that said, i hope reading still pulls one out of its hind parts)[Edited on August 12, 2007 at 12:28 PM. I am a West Ham fan so I taped their game and watched it. I was actually pretty impressed with Spector's play. He had a few nice long balls and was relatively tight at the back. Upson was horrible and himself led to a few chances and he should have done better on the first goal.Good to see Ashton back playing in a real game again finally.. hopefully he can pick up some of Harewood's goals... still don't know how Zamora led the team last year in goals..[Edited on August 12, 2007 at 12:28 PM. Reason : does anyone think ManU won't take 3 from this game.. come on.]
8/12/2007 12:27:06 PM
Hanhemann played the fucking game of his life there. Hard to score when you're playing all 11 in the box, though.
8/12/2007 1:10:51 PM
and fucking Rooney broke his goddamned foot at least we've got Tevez.
8/12/2007 6:14:20 PM
I would just like to go on record as saying that my Reds will not be in the title chase this year unless:1) Xabi Alonso removes his head from his ass2) Jermaine Pennant decides to return to his CL Final form3) Rafa finds a real left backWe will be better and will hopefully challenge for 2nd, but after seeing Liverpool's performance against a mid-level side like Villa, I'm less than convinced.
8/12/2007 7:27:06 PM
^^is this the same foot he broke last year before the world cup?
8/13/2007 2:25:26 AM
he broke his right i believe...iirc correctly he has broken his left on two previous occasions
8/13/2007 2:35:08 AM
^ actually he broke his left this time, the right one was the one her broke twice.I knew selling Smudger and Rossi was a mistake.
