everyone bitching about health care should go to Canada and stfu
6/16/2007 5:51:01 PM
^^ fair enough, but there are countries which do not provide any care unless you prove you can pay first. I think offering emergency care w/o proof of payment is quite generous, but I would rather not go beyond that because I would like to see the government mind its own buisness and not have too much of a say in my healthcare.

the Swedish health care system isn't all that spectacular. i know a girl who accidentally cut herself while cooking and spent something like 7 hours waiting in the emergency room queue. also, you can only buy drugs (even OTC medicines like tylenol) in state-run pharmacies.not to mention the taxes are super high in Sweden.
6/17/2007 12:48:52 AM
^ Well yeah, you have to get the money from somewhere. I don't see higher taxes as such a terrible thing if it'd help more people be able to afford health care. I guess Americans are too cheap to help each other out on that. Also, she cut herself cooking? Call me crazy, but that doesn't sound like a serious injury.
6/17/2007 12:52:29 AM
call me crazy, but a real women knows how to cook and not cut herself

i think it was bleeding pretty bad, but i'm not sure (i wasn't awake at the time).although the taxes are high, Sweden undoubtedly has the highest standard of living i've seen anywhere... i want to live there one day.

Moore like "Jowl sicko"
6/18/2007 10:06:10 PM
Good movie. watched it tonight. brought up some good points.
6/19/2007 5:02:28 AM
^^^^ He never claimed to want the government to spend more money. Certainly, there is a lot wrong with our healthcare system, but putting it on the government to provide healthcare is not the answer. I think the VA healthcare system is proof of that. And then there's the false belief that healthcare is a right, which is just more evidence that americans have a delusion-ally overdeveloped sense of entitlement.
6/19/2007 6:41:22 AM
Of course I don't want the government to spend more money. I'd like to see us get rid of medicaid and medicare while we're at it. The only people I think our government should have to be responsible for is medical coverage of wounded veterans, and we seem to be doing a really half-ass job of that at times.

Those nurses need to shut upwe need fewer MOUTHY nursesand more of these kindAm I right?
6/25/2007 3:14:46 PM
I'd like to show this to my undergraduate Health Psychology class. Could I get myself or my university in major trouble by showing a version that I acquire from the internet? I might just have students go to the theater to see it and give them extra credit...
6/25/2007 3:15:55 PM
of course you'll get in trouble you fucking left wing pinko brainwashing our youth.no, go ahead and steal copywritten material from the internet and then have public performances of itGood Idea![Edited on June 25, 2007 at 3:17 PM. Reason : l]
6/25/2007 3:17:09 PM
^ haha... yeah, I quickly came to my senses after posting that. The theater it is.
6/25/2007 4:31:10 PM
Michael Moore publicly said that he isn't against pirated copies of this movie spreading to people as long as they aren't profiting from it.
6/25/2007 4:41:46 PM
Yea but those JEWS the weinsteins will come down on anyone's ass to make a $no matter what moore says, studios own the rights to the movie
6/25/2007 4:46:34 PM
^^ thanks, that is helpful. I think I better still eer on the side of caution so I don't get my ass fired. Someone could say that I am technically profiting since I am being payed by the University.[Edited on June 25, 2007 at 4:47 PM. Reason : .][Edited on June 25, 2007 at 4:48 PM. Reason : ..]

I just watched it.I take everything Moore says with a grain of salt.but it does make me want to do more research about socialized healthcare.

man i saw half of this on videosift, then it got deleted, anyone got a link?
6/27/2007 10:46:29 PM
I'm guessing this movie will bomb, it has NO marketing for it going on
6/27/2007 10:48:36 PM
Yeah I forgot about the huge marketing schemes for Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11...
6/28/2007 12:31:48 AM

SiCKO is opening tomorrow at Galaxy Cinema in Cary.Showtimes:1:154:007:009:35We're having the California Nuses Association give a talk after the 7:00 show on Friday, so that should be pretty cool. I'd recommend buying tickets in advance--it's gonna be pretty busy this weekend.
6/28/2007 1:28:38 PM
what i think is funny is all these conservative videos coming out, all the attacks already on the film without anyone having even seen it
6/28/2007 4:57:19 PM
People have seen it. It's all over the internet, and there have been a few screenings.
6/28/2007 5:01:46 PM
I saw it yesterday, it was very good, but there were no earthshattering new informations, just a way of looking at ourselves, its more like a really good 20/20 special
6/28/2007 5:26:25 PM
Just got done seeing it - definitely the most revealing Michael Moore film to date. I was a huge fan of Bowling for Columbine but thought Fahrenheit 9/11 was too preachy. This tops both.Just remember to show up early tomorrow as we'll be swamped all day. And I'd advise coming early for the night shows. And to reiterate:
6/29/2007 2:30:22 AM
better than Roger & Me?
6/29/2007 2:37:25 AM
^ I can't say, I only had Roger & Me described to me. All I will say is that I think the relevance is probably more widespread.
6/29/2007 2:45:57 AM
Roger and Me is hard to beat but I'll check this out when I get back into town Tuesday night. I'm glad this weekend is part of my vacation.[Edited on June 29, 2007 at 11:05 AM. Reason : VACATION]
6/29/2007 11:04:12 AM
Everybody loves this movie, but if one more person tells me I look "JUST LIKE MICHAEL MOORE" I'll tear their fucking eyes out.Showtimes at Galaxy this week are 1:15, 4:15, 7:10, and 9:35.
