its cute

I'm a Florida alum, so I'm a bit biased toward the SEC on this. The Swamp certainly is loud, because of the design (and having ~27,000 students at each game), but LSU is probably louder at a big night game. Tennessee had the best "game day experience" of any place I've ever been, but Neyland wasn't especially loud (although that was before the last expansion there). Around the SEC, Kentucky has the nastiest fans, South Carolina the most loyal fans, Georgia and Alabama the friendliest, but none of those stadiums are particularly intimidating.Clemson and VT top the ACC, well ahead of FSU in my mind. Around the country, Texas A&M is well-organized & loud, and Nebraska is always packed with red. PSU, OSU, the Coliseum and the Rose Bowl are all so big that they're intimidating. Wisconsin can be crazy sometimes. The Carrier Dome was loud when Syracuse was decent. As an opposing fan, I would be really scared to go to Morgantown, WV. The Orange Bowl doesn't really impress me that much, since it's half-full (or less) for most games.

6/11/2007 1:50:13 PM
Georgia and bama have the friendliest fans?
6/11/2007 3:38:05 PM
Bama fans are fine, but Georiga fans are the biggest dicks ever
6/11/2007 4:19:37 PM
You can't have PSU ahead of OSU and UF... that's just irrational.
6/11/2007 4:21:11 PM
and the weird thing about Neyland is that its SO vertical, and completely oval shaped, no flat surfaces at all, so all the sound is just channeled straight down, the lower you are the louder it is. I have sat directly behind the band and you can even hear them...
6/11/2007 4:25:57 PM
6/11/2007 9:01:25 PM
that would be amazing! but alas it will never happen.
6/11/2007 9:21:09 PM
^^Great comparison: road game vs. bowl game. OMG I went to Carter-Finley for a HS State Championship one time and it was NOT LOUD AT ALL!
6/11/2007 9:36:09 PM
hahahahahayeah, bowl games, at least real bowl games are hardly ever the loud, rowdy fans

1. Florida's Ben Hill Griffin Stadium aka The Swamp - Official capacity: 88,548, Largest crowd: 90,7162. Ohio State's Ohio Stadium aka The Horseshoe aka The House Harley Built - Official capacity: 101,568, Largest crowd: 105,708 3. LSU's Tiger Stadium aka Death Valley aka The Nation's Most Dreaded Road Trip - Official capacity: 92,400, Largest crowd: 92,6644. That Rose Bowl game from what I remember was pretty loud all the way through.
6/11/2007 10:00:07 PM
that a&m is some steep shit i never noticed that... they should think about seating the other end zone
6/12/2007 10:47:15 AM
onthe college football games, NC State is the hardest place to play ( but only after I won 25 championships in a row)
6/12/2007 3:46:47 PM
I really wish someone would build a modern-day equivalent to the Maracana Stadium.200,000 seats with a full roof would be unstoppable.
6/12/2007 5:05:59 PM
^^^ they are. the future expansion of Kyle Field will result in it being the largest american football stadium with 115,000 seats. hold on and i'll find the photo and story.http://www.theeagle.com/aandmnews/091804kyle.php[Edited on June 12, 2007 at 5:12 PM. Reason : there ya go]

Ok the next ones I would like to nominate to be considered for spots 6-10 are Clemson, FSU, VT, Oregon, PSU, Michigan, Nebraska, and Auburn. How do you think they should be ordered? Do you agree that these 8 should be the main ones in consideration for placement in slots 6-10.
6/12/2007 5:19:22 PM
Then they need to put a roof on it. Azteca's got 115,000 seats and a full-circumference roof. ]

6. va tech (due to the fans) 7. penn state (most beautiful stadium and enormous)8. oregon (location, fans, and colors will get you)9. clemson (structure and fans get them this spot)10. michigan (basically the size of this place is all you need to intimidate the opposition and if the game is tight enough, the largest crowd in america shows up despite usual quiet consistency)
6/14/2007 1:02:08 AM
Since your list has turned into which stadium is the tough/loudest per se im still contemplating how you have osu over lsu, have you been to both? obviously not, lsu at night makes your ears cry for mercy and I hate LSU and OSU.
6/14/2007 1:13:12 AM
wtf is goin on in that auburn picture?? All the fans are outside, and the ones that are inside, are sitting in some of the shittiest seats
6/14/2007 1:38:30 AM
general admission student section mayhaps?
6/14/2007 1:39:30 AM
Ohio State's overall record in Ohio Stadium is 350-101-20. LSU's record is 354-138-18. Couple that with the fact that LSU only does well at night, a 19-22-3 (.432) record during the day. They're abysmal if they play day games. OSU wins whenever the game is played. Ohio Stadium is loud too. I'll bump them up to #2 though since you and another poster would like it.[Edited on June 14, 2007 at 7:16 PM. Reason : ]
6/14/2007 7:14:13 PM
put Ohio State in the SEC and that record would plummet
6/14/2007 7:20:09 PM
yea but if you put lsu in the big ten that record would plummet tooyou take any team out of conference and they arent going to perform as well
6/14/2007 7:27:27 PM
I somewhat agree that they would have a tougher time in the SEC, but the Big Ten has some very capable teams too. Just b/c they got destroyed by Florida in the national title game, doesn't mean that they couldn't compete in the SEC. Give credit where credit is due, Meyer had the boys from ol' Florida ready, and OSU never seemed the same after Ginn left. Let's look at it further. In terms of major national football powers the Big Ten has Michigan, OSU, Wisconsin, Iowa, Penn State, Michigan State (despite being the biggest underachievers out there they routinely are in the Top 25), Purdue. The SEC has LSU, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and sometimes Arkansas. It's all about the SEC's speed versus the Big Ten's strength. If there was a Big Ten/SEC challenge in football, I'd predict the SEC would win, but it would be close.
6/14/2007 7:29:49 PM
^^what???that makes no sense.. oh you are a michigan fan... we dont have to go through a best football conference argument do we? You wont win.Conference A = harder conferenceConference B = easier conferencetake a team out of A and put into B, they will have a better recordtake a team out of B and put into A, they will have a worse recordHALF of Tenn's scehdule was in the top 10, not top 25, top 10 when they played them last year.^ as for you... first off, Michigan State and Iowa are no where near national powers yet, hell Wisconsin isnt even yet, you have to win your conference a decent amount of times to be a power, and thats just a start.second, its not just florida, Ohio State is 0-9 against Bama, Tenn, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina[Edited on June 14, 2007 at 7:41 PM. 6/14/2007 7:31:05 PM
^ i disagree... so now what???ok good job hahaand why arent those teams national powers?? cause they lose to teams in their conference... GASP!!! must be a strong well rounded conference/this argument

I PRESENT TO YOU THE HARDEST PLACE TO PLAY ON THE PLANETThe Stadio Giuseppe Meazza..."San Siro"...home to italian soccer teams AC Milan and Inter Milan (also the best rivalry on the planet)...capacity of 85,700...watch the videoshttp://youtube.com/watch?v=mqusgVk4xREhttp://youtube.com/watch?v=pl2dfeUsByIhttp://youtube.com/watch?v=h9R3Ku31mlM

Unlike Italians and many other soccer fans, I like to be able to see the game instead of looking at the back of a banner, and breathing smoke in from flares all game long. What's the point of acting like an idiot and hitting a player with a flare, then your team just has to forfeit, so then you lose.Besides 85,700 is weak when you consider there are a lot of other soccer stadiums that are bigger and louder.[Edited on June 14, 2007 at 8:59 PM. it isn't too weak when all are rabid, borderline insane, supporters of their team...75% of the people filling these football stadiums are beer sipping old timers

The SEC leads the Big Ten with a 69-61-6 all-time record. The SEC has a .529 winning percentage versus the Big Ten. Since 1990, the SEC leads with a 30-23-0 record and a .566 winning percentage.and ohio state is 0-8 against the SEC in bowl games

yeah, kind of suprised, thought he was a Ohio State homer haa
6/15/2007 12:00:59 AM
Is Oregon really a tougher place to play than USC?
6/15/2007 4:41:40 PM
based on the crowd and stadium, yes. Based on the team, no.basically if you took USC and put them in Autzen with Oregon's crowd, they would be even better
6/15/2007 5:05:54 PM
Ive been to the VT, FSU and Clemsons's stadium and BY FARRRRR..Virginia Tech has the toughest stadium to play in, in the ACC....i love My Wolfpack..but when those damn hokie people get going and taht uneven stadium gets hopping up and down in unison...it's FUCKING CRAZY!! That's why it was such an awesome victory when we went to Blacksurg and beat them on taht missed field goal hehe..GO PACK!!
6/16/2007 5:54:04 PM
^ I WAS THERE!!!! it was amazing, and the fans were actually classy though. but what a win, 10 effing sacks
6/16/2007 5:56:02 PM
I was there with freinds and sitting behind the goal when it went wide right..but from teh angle I was sitting in I couldnt see the ball coming down until it had started coming down..the NCSU fans went crazy...I was sitting so high up and at such a high angle..my buds and I fell down like 2 rows from jumping up and down and yelling, and drinking(hehe) once we realized the Pack had secured the victory...GO PACK!
