6/12/2007 11:12:25 AM
because they are silky and comfortable
6/12/2007 11:17:15 AM
Real golf is expensive. Disc golf is cheap.Plus the old school players give you weed.
6/12/2007 12:33:06 PM
I can't smoke weed anymore Plus if you made as much as Hershculez then $20 shouldn't matteronce every 2 weeks

sign up starts between 5:30 and 6:00, go to the picnic tables to sign up, youll see the guys to talk to at the far table. bring 3 dollars to pay, puts you in the ace pool. assigning teams will be between 6 and 6:20, usually all the info you will need to hear will be yelled out around 6:20 when teams are made and you are assigned to start on a certain holenot sure if youve played this course when its official, but there are out of bounds: the parking lot, the tennis court, the road, the creek, and the baseball field...you will prob have a partner who wont throw it in these areas so prob dont have to worry. if you need any more info ill be online for about 20 more minutes
6/14/2007 3:38:00 PM
to add to ^'s post: You can sign up as Amateur, Advanced, or Pro (write your name on a slip of paper and put it in the correct bin). If it's your first time out, sign up as Amateur, even if you're good enough for Advanced. They start the pairings by randomly drawing an Am to be paired up with a Pro. When they run out of Pros, they start Am/Adv teams.

Played at Cedar Hills today, shot a -4. Is there a disc golf club at state?
6/17/2007 10:09:57 PM
Jay Pontier (a local pro) brought this by my job (Play It Again Sports Glenwood) the other day. If you're interested, email him.
6/18/2007 7:23:04 PM
^^ Yes, there is a disc golf club, but it isn't very active.
6/18/2007 7:48:01 PM

Kentwood Summer Doubles has been a Raleigh tradition for over 20 years! From May through August, doubles are run every Thursday night. Registration is from 5:30 to 6:00, followed by the draw for partners (seeded by division, so there are no pro-pro teams), and play starts around 6:15 or 6:30. The format is the usual best-shot doubles. Price is $3, which is $2 toward prizes and $1 toward the ace pool. Roughly the top 1/4 of teams win discs; on a typical night it takes -14 or -15 to get a disc, and -17 is a typical winning score. If there is no ace, the ace pool doesn't carry over, instead there is a CTP throw-off for it.KSD is where a lot of local disc golfers get introduced to competitive play. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and you can meet a lot of the local advanced amateur golfers, as well as some pros. If you're not familiar with all the rules, more experienced disc golfers will help you, without being a jerk about it. Playing along with, and perhaps getting some tips from, better disc golfers in a fun environment is a great reason to go.

i'll be back in raleigh thursday night. anyone trying to play this weekend?
6/20/2007 7:01:37 PM
I'm either going to play kentwood, east wake, or the power plant this weekend. Quick question; I don't have any champion discs and I'm wondering whether or not it's worth it to buy a champion driver or not, given the fact that they are twice the price of a normal disc.
6/21/2007 12:48:02 AM
buy the double stamped/X out discs from play it again sports. They are half the price of the normal champion discs and according to the innova website, are no different then the normal discs.
6/21/2007 3:07:23 AM
^ all true. play it again sports glenwood sells reg. champion discs for $14.99, and x-outs for $9.99.
6/21/2007 11:29:38 AM
I don't have hockey tonight, so I'll probably play Kentwood.
6/21/2007 11:36:16 AM
champ discs seem to be a little more overstable than their dx/star/pro versions
6/21/2007 10:45:07 PM
6/22/2007 1:51:07 AM
yea i wasnt gonna say anything, but the questions hes asking screams noob, and just seems sketchy that he shot -4 at cedar hills
6/22/2007 2:15:09 AM
^could be legit if he played the holes as the pars listed on them and not all par 3s...
6/22/2007 8:03:47 AM
^ That's what I was thinking. There are quite a few par 4 holes and even some par 5 holes on the posts if I remember correctly. ]
6/22/2007 8:13:34 AM
ahh, yea true, i dont even pay attention to the signs as i just play them all par 3
6/22/2007 1:01:23 PM
You're right, I didnt play them all par 3's, just whatever the hole said. I Figured something was wrong because I never get that close at kent or east wake. I did, however have an extremely lucky day. I have been playing for almost a year, but am no where close to being sick enough to hit a -4 on par threes at cedar.
6/22/2007 1:19:06 PM
I've hit -4 (50 shots) on Cedar Hills regular tees before, but then again I've been playing for 6 years. -4 was practically impossible for me to hit up until 2 years ago, and even then I've only done it 2-3 times.
6/24/2007 10:55:29 PM
I'll have to go back and see what I shoot on par 3's. I'm going out to kentwood today to try my luck.
6/25/2007 2:57:20 PM
I was at Buckhorn the other day and a friend of mine lost two champion drivers to the drink. Then these idiots were there trying to fish a floating disk out of the middle of the pond for a good 20 minutes. They used everything from a giant log to just throwing rocks at it.
6/27/2007 11:45:04 AM
hah^ mad leeches in Harris Lake, yo....Anyone play Zebulon before? Are all of those par 3's?
6/28/2007 8:54:37 AM
i consider it a par 56..holes 3 and 9 are par 4s
6/28/2007 9:43:28 AM
It's either 56 or 57...certainly #3 and #9 (both around 600') are par fours, and #16 (roughly 470') is either a tough par 3 or an easy par 4.
6/28/2007 10:11:00 AM
hmmm... I played out there earlier this week and a local guy we ended up playing with said they were all par 3's. He was putting with a "Wizard", some kind of crazy hard putter and approaching with a "kite", some kind of crazy dome shaped disc. I've never seen those discs before but he made them look pretty badass.I agree 3 and 9 are definitely not par 3's. Except for bogey/double bogey on #3 and #9, I need more than 3 on any of the rest. Fun course overall.
6/28/2007 12:06:35 PM
anyone have a Jaguar they want to sell?
6/28/2007 12:08:13 PM
ive got a kite, i dont throw it much, but its basically a fairway driver. innova classifies it as a midrange, it can really work as both. its a bit flippy if you are a power thrower, and definitely glides a while.
6/28/2007 2:21:49 PM
6/28/2007 2:29:08 PM
hey retards, if you're gonna spend all that cash for a disc, put your damn name and number on it. If I find a disc with a phone number on it, I'll go to the ends of the damn earth to return it. If I find one without, it's mine, motherfuckers.I came out of last weekend with a Champion Beast, 10x KC Pro Cheetah, and a brand spanking new Star Teebird. Not a single one had a phone number. (charlotte, charlotte, and jefferson for the 3 discs)They're mine now.
6/28/2007 2:29:34 PM
yea if i find a disc with a number on it on land, ill call the number, if i find it in the water and it still has a number i usually keep it, since i went through the trouble of getting it in the water
6/28/2007 2:37:37 PM
that's def cool of you guys, i hope you guys aren't the minority when it comes to this but I know how most people are. AKA Finders keepers^^did you find all of those on land???? I will look for a disc for quite a long time before giving up
6/28/2007 2:49:03 PM
^^^^ The lake at Buckhorn (Harris Lake) on holes 9, 10, and 11 isn't bad at all. As long as you return the discs that are marked to their owners, no one will hassle you for wading in to get them. However the pond on holes 15 and 17 is just nasty, and very murky at the bottom; I know of at least one case where someone got stuck in that mess, and had to have help to get out. It's illegal to go in the pond at Cedar Hills, and that is enforced if there happens to be a cop in the park. Also, the bottom is full of rocks and assorted garbage, so it's dangerous to go in without good shoes. About five years ago, someone got hurt pretty bad after stepping on a broken bottle.
6/28/2007 6:30:09 PM
^not to mention that you are bright green when you get outta that pond... probably nuclear
6/28/2007 9:20:57 PM
If you're ever in the mountains, check out ashe county's course. 600 foot hole off the side of a mountain and two water holes out of 9 total. It's also a very beautiful hike around the course.
6/29/2007 12:46:22 AM
so playing random doubles at kentwood today and my partner throws an ORANGE disc on number 10, griplocks, and it goes off right into the ditch or creek or whatever you want to call it, flies right over 11 teepad and into the brush...search for like 15 minutes, some other people search, find a different disc, but could never find the orange disc in therebasically what im gettin at here is that ditch has gotten ridiculous, its pretty much a jungle that you dont ever want your disc going into...i dont ever recall that ditch being as crazy with brush as it is now, and its creepin up almost high enough to affect drives on 11
6/29/2007 1:05:32 AM
yeah....i understand the restoration project they are working on there but really don't see a point if disc golfers are going to be trampling around where they want shit to grow and what not.......

http://www.pdga.com/course/courses_by_city.php?id=626anyone ever play here? I'm going to Nags Head for the 4th, and this is the closest course, even though it's not close at all.It is along 64 though, so I might have the chance to play either on the way there or back.I don't know about this "trash pile" that figures into the course.^at times, I like the overgrowth around holes 3, 4, 11. it helped me work on my side arm throw, but I dunno about copperheads up in there, that's sketchy.[Edited on June 29, 2007 at 1:05 PM. Reason : .]
6/29/2007 1:02:16 PM
Never played it, but I've heard it's really swampy and full of snakes...a great place to lose discs.
