If anyone wants free tix to the PRE-Grand Opening VIP party let me know. Tickets are limited and need to be filled out for each guest... So we'll see how many responses I get. It will be Thursday the 21st. The public grand opening is Friday the 22nd (those tix can be gotten from the website) but the Pre-Opening is for friends, family, & other vendors... with a completed VIP ticket from staff. Free food and all that good stuff.. PM me and I'll see what I can do.

Hey guys - to clear up any confusion - there won't be a cover for the first bit so it won't cost you $10 to get in, however, it is not going to be ANYTHING like Jillian's. It is not a "clubby" atmosphere and no one under 21 is allowed in. Period. We may do special events and allow over/under, but as of right now, no major plans for that. Our primary market is late college/recent grads/young professionals and we don't want to head down the Jillian's path, that's what causes bars to close. It's also got a great layout going for it so conversation is definitely possible. We're having one room dedicated to pool and billiards (not a Jillian's game room, a real MANS game room) which will be a ways away from the live bands (which mildew is correct, ARE AWESOME and very crowd responsive) so that'll be a great place to socialize. We have multiple bars across the complex and lots of beer tubs so getting a drink isn't going to be the long process it is at a lot of other place - that's actually one of our big goals - fast service. The majority of TWW'ers that I've met are good fun, so please do get Friends & Family tickets from one of us on here associated with Buckhead and please do go to: http://www.buckheadraleigh.com/grandopening.php to request your membership (free before we open, legally a minimum of $1 after we open... you have to have it because we don't serve food) and grand opening tickets which I am spending hours mailing over the next few days For those who think we're just mooching off the message boards - do look for an ad closer to grand opening... coming from me Any questions, mildew and brownie have been pretty right on the money or feel free to PM me (although email or IM is better, I'm rarely on here anymore)... a special thank you to everyone who said they enjoyed Charlotte so much - we hope to have that great of an appeal in Raleigh.I hope to see you all out there... it's going to be a good time. If you have any problems, questions, etc. please don't hesitate to let me know. Also, as a shameless plug for my department, we can accomodate groups and private parties of 10 to 1000. Your first event/rental fee is on us if you're a company/business and we've lined up just about the best options for food (lots of local restaurants!) and catering to do our in-house events. Please don't complain... I'm working on getting the ads together now Ok, I think that's plenty. If you read all of that... I'm guessing we'll see you June 21 and June 22!

Thanks to everyone for coming out last night! The entire evening was a blast!
6/22/2007 11:12:54 AM
did it turn into a TWW LAN party?
6/22/2007 11:43:08 AM
How'd it go? Lotsa people?
6/22/2007 12:22:59 PM
Thursday night was absolutely ridiculous how many people came - but it was a great time!Last night didn't seem to me to be as busy, but I could be wrong because I wasn't on the floor as much.Hope you all enjoyed yourselves! I'm going tonight to actually play instead of work if anyone else is
6/23/2007 10:29:27 AM
what was the obnoxious meathead vs loud girl ratio?
6/23/2007 10:51:13 AM
Pretty even I'd say, most of our bars usually run 55/45 (w/m) last time I heard. We're a very guy-friendly bar but also boast the title of Bachelorette Party HQ's in our other established cities.
6/23/2007 6:28:00 PM
i heard that it was one in one out with a one hour wait so i never even wentbut im also really confused about the purpose of tickets if you can just print out as many as you want
6/23/2007 6:31:07 PM
^ I know, it was all screwed up last night because of a lot of random stuff, but tickets are no longer needed since our two grand opening nights are over and lots of people should have memberships now so it shouldn't take an hour to get inhope you can make it out tonight or next weekend and enjoy it :-)We also don't do one-in-one-out ... if it's really crowded we let folks in with their groups and wait a few minutes to let the next in[Edited on June 23, 2007 at 6:46 PM. it was packed, pretty fununfortunately I had to work the following day, couldn't drink much
6/23/2007 7:40:39 PM
so this joint is a country themed club? what makes it different than whatever Banana Joe's is called now?
6/23/2007 10:03:09 PM
^(city limits)
6/23/2007 10:03:35 PM
No ... a lot of people have likened us to City Limits but only because it's the most comparable. We do play country and cover regular bar country songs but we play a lot more rock, etc. And there is NO bull (riding). If you're going to say "like city limits" then you have to add "but a lot nicer"... "and more rock and roll".The only thing about us that I think has at all been like city limits is last night our miller girls came and walked around in bathing suits all night... reminded me of the bikini bull riding... but we're really not trying to be like that(and i say all this with the most respect for city limits, i go there myself, but we're really just a different concept)think ski lodge and sportsmen (+ fun girls) not so much cowboys and bull riding

its a high volume bar...thats all anyone can say about it. if you want to be around a lot of people, go there.if you want unique drinks, great specials, and live music every night, come to blue martini
6/24/2007 2:19:56 PM
^uh oh, there's gonna be a fight!I like Blue Martini because it is much more adult and sophisticated.I like Buckhead because there are a lot of people (i.e. college girls) and it has a party atmosphere. MUCH better than City Limits.[Edited on June 24, 2007 at 3:00 PM. Reason : .]

i went two of the nights and its a cool place. $2 beers is nice too. They really did make a fine effort to ensure the place doesn't get overrun by the element that ran Jillians out of business. They play the OCCASIONAL r&b but not enough to make it ghetto. If the place turns, it won't be because they didn't try their best. The two things that need to be tweaked:1) The air conditioning. Its like the fucking arctic in there. I felt like i needed a sweater.2) The volume. I dont wanna sound like a grumpy old man but damn its really too loud in there. I know its a party bar but you'll do a lot better if you stick to more "chill" dance music than obnoxious bass volume. Let the people who wanna sweat/bleed from their ears go to the office or some other shithole. You should be in the business of attracting a slightly older crowd that has more money to spend and less drama/fights/drugs to deal with.Other than that, it has a lot of potential. The place is nice, the beers are cheap, and if you have money on the game you can easily keep up with the action on the big screens without being that guy who's glued to a 17 inch tv above the bar all night.[Edited on June 24, 2007 at 3:34 PM. The AC was toned down last night (saturday), it was definitely a much more comfortable temp.. Granted I loved it when it was cold in there because I hate when places get really fucking hot.. cold is so much better. But like I said last night we had it just about right.[Edited on June 24, 2007 at 4:09 PM. Reason : oh and guys make my life easier, don't get on the stage... girls only ]

i definitely want to check this place out... is it good for a 25-28ish crowd?
6/24/2007 5:44:26 PM
^I'm 26 and had a blastIt would have been cool had they kept the downstairs part of Jillians but made it into a dance floor. And yes, it can be too loud to talk.[Edited on June 24, 2007 at 6:23 PM. Reason : .]
6/24/2007 6:22:02 PM
I had no voice for the first few hours each day after we opened... but it could be b/c I was working and had to talk all night tooI've been told our AC couldn't be modified until we had new codes this week... trust me - we knew it was cold (i brought my fleece for after-close clean-up) so maybe we'll get that worked out this week before Wednesday :-)[Edited on June 25, 2007 at 12:46 AM. This makes me think that tons of douches or cowboy hats and redneck sluts will be hanging around here...I keep it low key. I'll take the quiet life...sophisticated fun!
6/25/2007 8:47:34 AM
just wondering about the people posting that work there - are you getting paid to advertise or just doing it to up the hype so that you don't end up working somewhere lame or something else it's not something exclusive to this place - it seems like at some companies the employees who are mainly part-time employees that typically don't have a long-term plan with the company put energy into the success of the company and end up getting very little compensation for it other than maybe some cool points - this happens a lot in the retail industry
6/25/2007 9:04:26 AM
^^^ yeah I know right! That made me mad, it happened THAT afternoon as I came in.. got a nice call from corporate telling us to do cover. I'm not a fan of it and I'm hoping we do better member discount nights, drink specials, etc. to make up for it. IMHO, it is a BAD idea to charge cover so freakin' early in opening.^^ not really, I can't really tell you anything to prove it. You'll just have to come see for yourself instead of assuming.^ No - we do not get paid to be on here. It just so happens that quite a few of our opening staff happened to be NCSU'er (for obvious reason) and a few of them happened to be TWW'ers. We all just really like it and want State people to come out and enjoy themselves. I can honestly say almost all of us came in on nights we weren't working (I worked Thursday and Friday and partied Saturday). We're not trying to hype it up... it's just a nice welcome addition to the downtown nightlife.Anyone who was charged cover this weekend or who may be thinking of coming out to check the place out please PM me your real first and last name and email and I'll see if I can't take care of y'all the next time (or first time) you come in. I can bring a few friends with no cover each night I come and I'd like to extend that to TWW'ers so everyone can see that we're not a bunch of toolbags (or atleast, that I'm not )
6/25/2007 1:37:29 PM
yeah, if i had any advice to give it would be to not do a cover charge unless there was a special band or DJ playing. Raleigh is not really a "cover charge" kind of town. there are a lot of bar options that dont charge and for most people that wins out over a lot of other factors. just my $.02
6/25/2007 2:14:51 PM
^ completely agreed! The issue comes in here, we have a band every night. We have about 12 bands who travel around the country playing for our bars... they're all really awesome, really entertaining, and incredibly crowd-interactive. They do almost all cover songs of just about any kind of genre and every now and then throw in something original. Our owners think that warrants cover... but my thoughts are that not a lot of people REALLY know them, so they're not really coming to our bar just to see the band... no matter how much we enjoy them.
6/25/2007 2:28:48 PM
i've gotta imagine that the people running the bar - the same ones that have run the other successful ones around the nation will get rid of the cover if they think it's going to hurt the bottom line - doesn't seem like that's the case so far though...
6/25/2007 2:34:28 PM
If your club is good enough then people will pay the cover. 5 bucks ain't much to spend to go to a bar if you have live bands. If all you have is a DJ then a cover shouldn't be charged unless your going to charge only the under 21 crowd.
6/25/2007 2:36:10 PM
^ 21+ only
6/25/2007 2:44:04 PM
another stupid bar that my stupid ex will be slutting it up at
6/25/2007 2:51:25 PM
well it all depends on what kind of club that this will be. Longbranch and City Limits are country so don't go that direction.[Edited on June 25, 2007 at 3:04 PM. Reason : ry]
6/25/2007 2:53:29 PM
^ what direction? country?
6/25/2007 2:55:08 PM
we welcome your ex and her sluttiness... but we welcome you as well 250... you can and should come slut it up also
6/25/2007 2:56:48 PM
^ hahahahah, oh my
6/25/2007 3:05:56 PM
This place was hoppin all weekend.....but I must say.....Chewbaca playin the electric guitar Saturday made my night. Oh yea, and peeing next to JJ Redick in the bathroomand about the cover - its 5 freakin dollars...relax
6/25/2007 9:39:13 PM
bars are in the business of making money. If the place is going to be packed regardless, then they'd be stupid not to charge a cover.I dont think $5 is the least bit unreasonable given the relatively nice facility, live band, multiple bars, tub girls, big screen tv's...Just do something about the air conditioning and at least consider turning down the volume a LITTLE. I mean damn you have to at least be able to say 10 words to a girl to get her to go home with you...Make it a little easier to hook up and you'll get more repeat business. Available pussy drives bar performance, period.
