Actually I highly doubt they could have gotten more than a 4th round pick for Moss.If they could have gotten more for him they probably would have taken another deal instead. Think about that for a second. I really doubt they were like "well the Packers are offering a 2nd round pick but i think we'll take a 4th round pick instead". Remember Marshall Faulk in his prime was traded to St.Louis from Indianapolis for only a 3rd round pick. They freed up a lot of cap space and got rid of a malcontent. Getting a pick in exchange was just icing, not the main reason for the deal.

I think they could have gotten more than a fourth rounder for him if he was willing to restructure his contract for other teams but he was only willing to do it for the Pats so the Raiders took what they could get for him.

^^It was more than a 3rd round pick. 2nd and 5th.[Edited on April 30, 2007 at 9:02 PM. Reason : .]

Yeah, I mean look who some of the teams got in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. You are telling me they would rather have some of those players than Randy Moss. No fucking way.If Randy Moss was in the draft. No way in hell he goes in the 4th round.[Edited on April 30, 2007 at 9:26 PM. Reason : .]

What are the Pat's paying him, between 3-4 M, that's a steal if his head is on straight
4/30/2007 9:27:25 PM
Yeah, he took around a $6mil paycut to go to the Pats.
4/30/2007 9:32:58 PM
okay a 2nd round pick is a little more valuable than a 4th round pick. But at the time Faulk was in his prime and was about to become the NFL MVP and win tons of awards and dominate the league for the next few seasonsMoss is on the downside of his career and is more of a malcontent than Faulk (who was a prima donna but not NEARLY the distraction that Moss has been)

Reche fucking Caldwell??? at best he is a SLIGHTLY better than average WR... on a scale of 1 to 10, he is a 6. Which is a disappointment based on what he did in college. Ike Hillard - sucksJabar Gaffney - sucksTaylor Jacobs - sucksTravis Taylor - decent for a few years, but now sucksJacquez Green - really really sucksReidel Anthony - sucksDarrell Jackson is the best one I can think of

NE was a championship contender...Moss makes them a Championship favorite. Moss gives this team a reliable and solid receiver...I don't know if he catches 15 TD's (very possible) but I think he spreads the field and opens up the field for Watson and Maroney (sp??) III
5/2/2007 2:58:17 PM
god i dislike the pat's...
5/3/2007 1:28:30 PM
This makes Brady a top 3 fantasy QB.He was already top 6, but this moves him up.1) Manning2) Palmer3) Brady
5/3/2007 2:41:31 PM
(^ thats actually pretty interesting for us fantasy players.)And it will continue along side of his new gangbusters teammate Merriweather. Thanks for the East, New England. Enjoy your slide. ~the Jets, Bills, and Fins.

from his former OC in Oakland:
5/16/2007 12:29:13 AM
I love how every year people look for reasons why the Pats and/or their players will fail. Last year I recall the general consensus was they wouldn't make the playoffs after losing Dion Branch, and as it turns out they were a play away from making the SuperBowl.
5/16/2007 1:33:27 AM
They were extremely lucky to even make it to the AFC championship game. The Chargers not only shot themselves in the foot, they shot themselves in just about every other body part as well in that game.Right now the Patriots appear to be the team to beat. However, the Chargers and Colts will have something to say about that. Overall, the Chargers are more talented, but the Patriots have better coaching. Week 2 should be interesting. I'll be up in Foxborough to catch that one.
5/16/2007 11:39:53 AM
I cannot agree that the Chargers have more Talent than NE. Chargers are younger, but the experience and game IQ and talent goes to NE. III

^as huge of a rivers fan i am, and i hate tom brady more than anyone.....you cannot consider phil to be equal to brady.....
5/16/2007 2:32:19 PM
Phil was a Pro-bowler last year, Brady wasn't.He had better numbers than Brady, and was much better in clutch situations. I think a push is fair if you judge them based on last year's performance.
5/16/2007 3:31:08 PM
^ Obviously I feel that Phil will show himself to be of the same talent level as Brady, but ya really cant put him there just yet.... In my mind.... yeah... but not to the rest of the non NCSU world... Id like to see how many chargers fans think he is a push with Brady....Brady definitely has better recieving options as of this year. He will NEVER have LT though
5/16/2007 3:40:48 PM
Anyone who even speaks River's name in the same breath as Brady's is seriously.... an idiot.

Anyone want to venture a guess as to how many Pro Bowls Phil will be elected to over the next 10 years versus Randy Moss? 10/10 vs. 0/3 ?[Edited on May 18, 2007 at 12:54 PM. Reason : nn]
5/18/2007 12:54:27 PM
brady sure did win some championships tho...
5/18/2007 12:56:15 PM
WOW III
5/18/2007 1:33:05 PM
You honestly can't be serious.I mean, I know Rivers went to NCSU, but....He has one good season, one in which he was carried by one of the greatest players of all time. I am not taking away anything from Phil, but....I mean Brady is like 8-2 in the playoffs (I think) and 3-0 in the Superbowl, with 2 SuperBowl MVP's. Phil is 0-1. As of now, you can't even compare the 2. Maybe someday, but not now.
5/19/2007 2:04:37 AM
WOW, we do have some of our fans on with the red blinders..........dude I hate tom brady but phil doesn't even come close at this point.PERIOD.
5/21/2007 12:17:40 AM
Yeah, Brady is way better than Phil. Brady is probably the best QB in the league. Manning might put up numbers, but Brady is a better big game player. Brady is the QB you want in the playoffs -- more than phil, more than manning.
5/21/2007 1:43:10 AM
I'd put Peyton Manning squarely ahead of Tom Brady now that he has led his team to a Super Bowl victory. Brady has nothing to prove and he is a future hall of famer. I'll go ahead and retract my statement that they are a push. Rivers still has some work ahead of him to be considered on the same level, despite having a better season than Brady last year. PS I forgot the tight end position.TE - Chargers
