TreeTwista10, I freely admit that my characterization was a stereotype. Stereotypes are over-simplifications, yes, but this particular stereotype happens to be a fairly accurate one. It certainly fits with the poll data described in the original article. Now I'm not saying *all* Fox News viewers fit the stereotype. Of course there are some variations. For instance, we see here that some of you here on TWW are fairly intelligent, reasonably informed, college-educated conservatives who for some reason choose to get your news from FNC. But it's apparant from my experience, anecdotal evidence, and scientific poll data, that you are the exceptions rather than the rule.Look, I'm really sorry that it embarrasses you and makes you mad that your fellow Fox News viewers are so amazingly ignorant of current affairs, to the point that they cant name the sitting Republican Vice-PresidentAnd it's admirable how dilligently you try to rationalize this away, and show that these people are being misrepresented somehow. It really is touching. But perhaps you ought to check your premises.

I mean, media matters is no less biased than fox news
4/17/2007 10:32:59 AM
Is an Annenberg survey of 100,000 people any more or less biased than either mediamatters or fox news?[Edited on April 17, 2007 at 10:40 AM. Reason : ^^ you wanna try adding anything to the thread other than that bullshit?]Wait, it was only 19000 or sohttp://www.ou.edu/policom/1501_2005_winter/roundtable_kenski.htmI'm not aware of if OU is extremely conservative or liberal, I guess if I knew, you could more easily confirm or deny the message they have without actually having to read it.

Did you even read anything posted in here TreeTwista? There are two polls referenced in this thread done by two reputable nonpartisan agencies that show TDS/TCR viewers are more educated and informed than those who get their news from fox/cnn/msn/****. There is a third poll that shows that TDS viewers are more educated than viewers of other comedy shows. Why are you even trying to disagree with this?[Edited on April 17, 2007 at 10:57 AM. Reason : read wrong]
4/17/2007 10:55:57 AM
^Did YOU read the original source of the poll? cause TDS and TCR are hardly the most important aspects of it^^You called this a study? They called up 1500 people on the phone and asked them some questions...whoopty fucking dooHowever if you take so much faith in it, I'm sure this will just kill you
4/17/2007 10:56:17 AM
4/17/2007 11:01:34 AM
Yes actually I did read it. That quote you posted did nothing for you. It just says the different formats as a whole have no substantial differences. Yes well-informed audiences come from every type of group. But on average people from TDS/CR answered questions better than people who watched Fox news. If you had actually read what you put in your post you would see they included TDS/CR in the well-informed audience list while Fox news was in the less informed list. What it is saying as a whole cable (with informed TDS/CR and uninformed Fox viewers) is not more well informed than people who get their information from the internet (smart people from major news websites, dumb people from blogs). Thanks for proving my point for me.

4/17/2007 11:06:17 AM
^^truebut does it say that the watchers of TDS/TCR are more informed because they watch those shows??[Edited on April 17, 2007 at 11:07 AM. Reason : asdf]
4/17/2007 11:07:17 AM
^^here, do yourself a favor and actually look at the Pew Group's own website instead of some half dozen paragraph summary...I know you depend on summaries to understand everything, but here is the actual poll details, questions, results, etc...if you don't roid rage and smash your computer, you might learn somethinghttp://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=319Course if you want to continue to treat a telephone poll of 1,500 people as fact, go right ahead and make yourself dumber]
4/17/2007 11:14:22 AM
Thats the best trolling that you have in response to getting owned hard core yet again? How long before you shift your comments into the "i'm innocent, and all these people are trolling me, and they should be suspended" language that you normally do right about now?Try again.
4/17/2007 11:20:26 AM
^^ Or he could just watch Fox news to make himself dumber (statistically).
4/17/2007 11:21:45 AM
^^Well even though you didn't have time to read the poll, at least the fact that you just posted showed you didn't have another maniacal steroid rage fit and smash up your PC...good job, I guess you're finally beginning to get a grip on your anger management problemNow if you could just find the time in your schedule to work on your stupidity problem^or any cable news channel, according to the poll]

4/17/2007 11:50:34 AM
how about i add thisgosh the 54% of TDS and TCR viewers who are informed sure is a lot more than the 54% of major newspaper website visitors!
4/17/2007 11:52:18 AM
54 significantly greater than 35 which is where you get most of your news.

The 8 consecutive posts above mine actually.I'd expect that tripe in chit chat, but TSB used to be a place where you can have at least somewhat civil debate instead of two man-children exchanging 3rd grade insults.
4/17/2007 12:21:29 PM
Sorry TrollTwista, I already called it
4/17/2007 12:21:34 PM
I read the intial story and was skeptical that TDS/TCR audience was necessarily more informed than people who followed the news for reasons other than comedyInstead of just looking at the headlines from the intial summary article, I actually looked at the Pew Group's website and the specifics of the pollI then posted this gif (http://people-press.org/reports/images/319-14.gif) which showed that not only did the audience of "Major newspaper websites" have the same percentage of people in the High Knowledge Group, but that the TDS/TCR audience was only more knowledgeable about identifying Scooter Libby. The audiences of "Major newspaper websites" on the other hand were more knowledgeable about naming Sunnis, being able to identify Vlad Putin, and being informed on the number of US deaths in Iraqyour only retort to that pwnage (pwnage pertinent to the thread topic btw) was to start claiming I watched Fox News...yet I'm the problem
