I just talked to a lawyer today and he told me that the officer pretty much screwed me over. Even he said that it was obvious it wasn't my fault. The police report places no blame on the other vehicle. I'm about to head over to the PD right now. If anyone saw me out there...please I need your statement. That's the only thing I got going for me right now.

i think in this case it would be ok to find someone (a witness) to lie for you

So I talked to the officer and his sergeant yesterday. And to be honest, I've lost a lot of respect for NCSU PD. I normally hold law enforcement in high regards if they're doing what they do correctly. But this just adds to the stereotype that many police officers enjoy screwing over the innocent. Not gonna badmouth the guy though. It's whatever.

What is wrong with the report?? I just glanced at it and from the way the report is you were coming up from behind the guy... you attempted to stop and slid into the guy. I assume he put that you failed to reduced speed or something. I know you said it was all wrong so Im curious as to what really happened. how is the sketch wrong or the narrative wrong?? lookin back again what you said happened and what the pics says are two different things

^Yup, its the responsibility of the person merging to do so safely. However, I guess what the report says is that Prime First had time to stop, but failed to do so.Basically in NC, whoever has the last chance to avoid the accident is the person who is at fault.

Yeah, the diagram on the report has my car in front of Unit 2. When I asked the officer about this, he said that it was our final resting place. But I disagree with this. I wasn't going fast enough to shoot in front of his car after hitting him in the side. It also has part of my car in the oncoming lane. To back this up, the officer said that the image is not drawn to scale. But the last time I checked, scale has nothing to do with where you position the cars on the diagram. That should at least be accurate. Also, the other vehicle is not placed in the bus lane. He was in real life though. There is a code on the right-hand side of the report. 27- means that I swerved. I didn't swerve at all. When I told the officer this, he argued with me and told me that I did. Finally, he agreed he said that I skidded. No shit, I skidded. That shows that I tried to stop. But I didn't swerve at all. He said that since there is no code for skidding, he used swerved which is "the next closest thing." Anyone who thinks this is a dumbass. Skidding and swerving are two completely different things. The narrative also states that Unit 2 was stopped in the southbound lane attempting to turn into a parking space. I asked the officer, how he came to this conclusion. He said he included this because I didn't say anything otherwise. But how the hell was I supposed to know he was going to include this. That isn't a fact that can be proved. He hit me before anyone could see what he was trying to do. I told him that this was my word against his. The officer was not there and therefore cannot determine this and include it in the report. He basically came up with some BS that meant tough luck. I told the officer that he included the other guy's statements, he could include mine too (about the bus lane and merging - which are pretty obvious if you saw how our cars were stopped). Again, he and the sergeant gave me a ton of bull shit. Those are some things that are wrong with the report. I could go on with some more things, but this post is already long enough. But here's the kicker: I talked to the other guy on the phone. And he's blaming me for at least $4500 in damages to his '88 Maxima. He says that the scrape on the side of his car will cost $2500. He barely has any visible damage. All the damage to my front end and rear-quarter and alignment is barely $2500. He also said that I broke his strut assembly and wheel. I asked him what he was doing on campus over the phone. He said he was trying to go to the "student union." At the scene he said he was just passing through. He isn't even allowed to park in the spots facing Derr. They are DE spaces. Now the lawyer that was helping me says that there's pretty much nothing I can do now with the police doing what they did. My only hope now is that I can find a witness, which I haven't.

That's pretty unbelievableBut i guess it's not the cop's duty to determine fault free reign for the cop to say it's who ever's fault he feels like.
